Hello
there, I am a newbie DM who is seeking ananother player or two for an
online long campaign. A player recently had to drop out due to irl
obligations moving to our gametime so I am looking to fill her seat and
possibly one mormore if there's just too many good players. Group right now: A Kobold Bard, A Genasi Cleric to The Wildmother, A Fighter Dragonborn and A Conjuration Wizard Hobgoblin. A
bot about me: I've run a number of one shots for a group I'm a player
in when our Dm's been unavailable and now I want to give an actual long
form campaign a chance. This game is about 10 sessions in but dont feel
intimidated this group is really welcoming and seems to enjoy rping. Newer
players are encouraged to join over "veteran" players as this table is a
looser one; im still learning how to DM something long form and thats
not a prewritten module. We do more theatre of the mind and i draw crude
maps to give a visual when theres combat. A bit about the campaign:
So I'm running Ghosts of Saltmarsh set in Critical Role's Wildemount
using GoS as a "skeleton" to build my own campaign out of. Here's a
"movie poster pitch": Saltmarsh was once this sleepy backwater
fishing town but with the rise of the once fallen land of Dranconia to
its north Saltmarsh now finds itself the del facto port of this nation
of Dragonborns. The return to relevance has renewed The Dwendalian
Empire's and Krynn Dynasty's intrest in securing trade and political
favors with Draconia. Saltmarsh now finds itself on the verge of
becoming this new thriving port with ships from the world over and all
types sailing the same bay waters and dicing in taverns dry or dreary.
The same old planks line the piers that once fisherfolk only stepped now
pirates and slavers walk the same boards as privates and politicians of
the highest esteem. Some relish the changes, others yearn for a return
to a quieter time. None know what secerts or riches Saltmarsh holds or
hides for you, the only thing for certain in this town is: change is on
the winds. I've been playing 5e for about 2years now and DMing for
just this past summer. I think that my DMing style would best be
described as improv narrative focused, I plan to try to incorporate PC
backstories as we go on with the campaign. So setting stuff:
Exandria's a high magic setting, there's the beginning of flintlock and
clockwork firearms being made by tinkerer's and cannons; it is a pirate
campaign after all. Lets see what else have I been asked in the past...
idk, think I've covered alot. Respond with the following: Name: Pronoun: Can you, reasonably, commit to the scheduled time for the foreseeable future (next 2-3months): DND EXP: Please let me know what kinds of dramatic events, if any, you don’t feel have a place in a game that would be fun for you: A
very basic concept of your PC; Class Race and general idea of the
character (what do they want, what is driving them to adventure, maybe a
character from Pop Culture that's a good template to help give me an
idea of who they are/what they want). Don't give me their whole
backstory we can work on that later together. As far as "whats allowed" i
say just run your idea by me if its outside PHB and ill let you know
(more likely than not it'll be fine, ive just been taken advantage of by
granting blanket ok's to sourcebooks)
