text displays light

i'm sure i am just missing something trivial but when i put labels into the GM Layer, they type in looking normal but when i hit enter, the text goes to such a light shadow that I can barely see it. Is there a way to make it display brighter? I have played around with different colors and that can definitely help but still, would like it to be bright and easy to read for my old eyes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Everything in the gm layer is greyed. If you move it to token or map layer, they become black or whatever color you choosen.

Everything placed on the GM layer has a translucency applied to it. Some colors are easier to read than others. Try swapping out colors for the text until it's legible on the GM layer. You can also draw a filled in box to sit underneath the text to help readability too.
