Looking for 1 player for a weekly Saturday Pathfinder sandbox game. 7pm EST weekly for 3-4 hours per session. Emphasis is on RP and character development. Setting Two hundred years ago, magic disappeared from the land, which resulted in general peace. One day, a magic chalice washed ashore. Rosamund Stormrook, the rightful heir to the kingdom of Wheldenbluff, happened to be in town for its discovery. She traveled with a party to unravel its mystery. It turned out to belong to the Snowdens, another fallen noble family. As they unraveled the mystery, it became clear that this chalice pointed to where the magic was sealed away and that Snowden was going to use the power for himself. Rosamund Stormrook rushed to get there first, joined by the barbarian Keva and then the southerner Al-Din, who was serving the Great Khan of the south lands. Each had their own reasons for beating Snowden there, but all agreed they needed to get their first. Unfortunately, they were too late. Snowden got their first and brought magic back. They killed him, but now dealt with the problem that the Great Kahn had taken everything he could and was drunk on magic. He was raising a great slave army and was preparing to make the world bow to him. They headed north to find the one scholar who knew anything about magic, the gnome Twinkletoes. Though doing this under the auspices of the Great Khan, Rosamund Stormrook and Keva switched allegiances and brought the gnome to King Ecbert of Sturmgard. This displeased al-Din, who was loyal to the Great Khan, and he was captured by Ecbert's forces and imprisoned. Slowly he learned that he had been brainwashed by the Great Khan and that the Great Khan was an imposter, so he rejoined Rosamund Stormrook and Keva to stop the Great Khan from invading. To prepare for the Great Khan's invasion, they have helped Ecbert deal with their war with Freeport and went north to the Dwarven citadel to seek assistance. While there, they managed to prevent an invasion from the Darrow Dwarves and get troops pledged for the coming war. And that is where the world now stands. Magic has returned, and everyone is scrambling to get a hold of it and control of it. People have come into possession of magic items, weapons, and powers and don't know it and don't know how to use. A pretender in the south, the Great Khan, is amassing a colossal slave army to conquer the world, and Ecbert's kingdom will be the frontline where that battle is fought. The great heroes, Rosamund Stormrook, Keva, and Al-Din are running around the country, gathering support for the war and proving their bravery. Kingdoms are in chaos as they fight each other and nobles struggle for their own power while the common folk are crushed under foot by forces they cannot control. War is coming, and it is now time for more heroes to enter the stage. The group has 5 characters, and could use a front liner for optimal balance. The game is played on Roll20 and via Skype. Mic and headset required with crystal clear connection and reliable internet. Pathfinder "rules as written". Character - Preferably a front liner for optimal balance - 15 point buy - 2 traits - 2000 XP on the medium XP track (putting your character at level 2) - 600 starting gold to buy whatever - Any archetype, any Paizo full BAB class. No 3rd party materials. - Any good or neutral alignment - Roll d10 for race: 1-5 human, 6 elf, 7 dwarf, 8 half-elf, 9 half-orc, 10 exotic race table roll The Fit Of the hundreds of Pathfinder players out there, I'm looking for the chosen one among you that's the right fit: - Weekly attendance on time, you only miss due to dire RL circumstances (ie - the game is a priority for you). Weekly attendance must be available for the foreseeable future. - Heavy emphasis on roleplaying. My definition of RP means adding value to the game, and content to the storyline. Your character helps advance and enhance the plot, not simply riding the loot train saying, "my character does X" all the time. When you talk, it's your character talking. - A new player is welcome provided the player is mature and can think sufficiently - ie. not asking me "Can I do X with Y" every 2 minutes. Read SRD, don't ask the group to babysit you. - Can accept that the GM doesn't owe him/her an explanation for decisions, interpretations, rulings, etc. The type of player I want doesn't have an axe to grind, except for grinding orc faces. - Optimizers are ok if you're not using the game as a platform to test your new character idea. That's what PF society is for and one-shots. It is possible to RP a min/max character successfully, but I am looking for someone who will develop a character concept with backstory and build a character around that, not vice versa. - Is capable of staying with the original character for the long haul (provided he/she stays alive). Must not have ADHD when it comes to character concepts and continually wanting to change class/archetype/feats/etc. I want someone who will go in-depth into their character. - Should enjoy challenging combat as well as ample RP time. - It's a sandbox game, which means the players determine the story direction. That said, you must fit within the existing long-time group that's playing. - Must be easy going and communicates well, respectful of others while contributing to the group. PM if interested.
