Nameplates always defaulting to showing to players

I have changed the default in my game to not show nameplates and to not have the players have the see/edit permissions on the name by default, but it still seems to be showing the nameplates to players by default when I add a new token? Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Fix what exactly? If that screen shot is what you find on any new token, it is correct. If the players are still seeing the nameplates, either the players have control over the tokens, the players are in GM mode, or you're bringing out a previously-saved default token, not a new token with the new parameters.

That also appears to be a non-standard token settings display. You might want to try turning off whatever extension you are running. Otherwise, it's likely what Dakota H said as the third option. Changing defaults does not affect saved default tokens. Changing defaults outside of game will only affect new compendium drags and creations. Also, if you want to affect existing tokens on maps (again, not default tokens), you will need to apply defaults to existing content (in the in-game settings tab, at the bottom). It will likely take a few minutes to run--the progress bar is there, but thin and easy to miss.
