I'm looking to release several new dungeon tile sets, and I figured I'd put this out there for folks to weigh in on prior to their release. What are the most essential props map creators like to have access to when putting together their dungeons?
tables, chairs treasure chest 10+ different things that look like different kinds of traps, or things hidden in stonework that you're unsure if it might be a trap (ropes, gears, pits).
I'd like to see a set of dungeon wall/corridor tiles with transparent floors. So you can overlay them onto whatever floor type you have in mind (stone, dirt, water, whatever).
Fallen weaponry, thematic furniture (bookcases for mad wizards, shackles for mad despots, etc), rubble, small and large plants (bushes and trees), Giant mushrooms, broken glass, Food & Drink. I think a good idea for brainstorming something like this is to try to make a map yourself, and note down all the little bits and pieces you used the most.
Those are some great ideas. Brett, I hadn't even considered the idea of a floorless dungeon set, but you know what? I think I can easily accommodate that.
That would be great if it can be done, I've come across great tile sets before with perfect corridors or cavern walls. But the floors were nothing like what I really wanted. Meanwhile, I've got a big collection of various ground tiles which are just plain squares. The ability to combine the two would be perfect.
