Hello again Roll20, today I'm looking for another player to join my group of players running through my homebrew campaign. I'm only looking for one person, and will update the thread when I'm not taking applications anymore. You do not have to know anything about World of Warcraft or this particular expansion in order to play. I have a few paragraphs of important lore for the players in my group, but that's it. Some of my players have never played the game, and some were only around for Warcraft III. Knowing the game is great, but not required. I made this game not just because I have a love for WoW and D&D, but also because I wanted to run an experiment. Making my game less like a sandbox and more like a faster paced adventure. It won't be a word for word copy of WotLK, as in I won't copy every quest and story line, just the ones that feel most important to me, like dungeons and raids. I will be throwing out a number of encounters relevant or thematical to the areas in Northrend, and the party can choose to go with that, or explore, possibly finding other content or a mini-dungeon of some kind. Rules & Expectations https://docs.google.com/document/d/11QuCD14vokGFTb2XX2ZBPuP5XX5_NJYrfJgMgXENWjY/edit?usp=sharing This document covers all of the basics, but I will go over some specific details with the game below. If anything in the document conflicts with the game details, the latter will override the former. If there are any questions or concerns, I encourage you to ask with your application! Being transparent is very important to me. Game Details -Setting is Northrend, during the Wrath of the Lich King campaign. I allowed a Pandaren and a Monk to be playable. -Playable races come from a homebrew pdf I have, and will send it to interested applicants. The party has already chosen Horde affiliation, so it is locked to that side of the conflict as far as races go. -The party is currently level 2, and will level via XP for now. This may change to milestone later, depending on how things work out. -Classes are unlocked across all races, and I've already let one player play an Oathbreaker Paladin in order to capture a "Death Knight PC" sort of feel. -Game will run 3 hours, might run shorter but more than likely won't run later. Every session will have the feel of a one shot, as combat encounters will not be difficult, and I will stimulate roleplay with social encounters or prompts for character interaction when I feel it is required. In addition, when sessions are running late and the planned content is not finished, I may give the party a buff to help them move quicker through the material, or if that doesn't help I might offer an out. "Your night hasn't been going so well, rolls are pretty bad and you're nowhere near close to finishing the dungeon. In character, the party probably feels worn out after being downed repeatedly, they may want to come back another time with better equipment and/or planning. How do you guys feel?" If the party chooses to forfeit, they can leave safely and start next session either trying again with a different plan/tactics/gear, or they can move onto other things and deal with the repercussions. -Lore will be as close to appropriate as I can, but I will take whatever liberties I feel like. I've already let a panda and a monk join the party, with very minor reasoning. But I will most likely keep to basic themes in Northrend. -Dungeons/Raids: Dungeons will be 1 session long, start to finish. Raids will be multi-session crawls, like your old fashioned dungeons. Mobs/bosses will have similar feels in both; mobs will be easy to kill, very quick encounters, while bosses will be tougher, but have specific gimmicks to them that make it fun to fight them with your team. -Loot is abundant. I've already told my players they will likely receive a plethora of magic items and materials to make more. -Crafting is a thing, sometimes quests might reward the party with materials to make them. You can either make it yourself or give it to a crafter in a major city to do it while you're questing. Keep in mind, since each session is self contained like a one shot, you will only have time to make it yourself between sessions. So if you don't have enough time to make the item yourself, as stated with Xanathar's, you may want to consider a professional. I've given everyone a free tool proficiency in regards to this. Application Name? Are you 18+? How much WoW knowledge/experience do you have? How much D&D knowledge/experience do you have? Have any character concepts in mind? What is my most important rule (to you)? What matters most in a game (to you)? Do you have any questions? Closing Thoughts If you like WoW, D&D, and faster pacing in your tabletop RPGs, then this is the game for you. I encourage you to add me on Discord at Capo#9044 in order to apply.
