LFG/DM for MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing)

Throwing this back out there, as I know there were a few interested. I was hoping that there are folks here interested in playing the old MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) system done by ICE (Iron Crown Enterprises). Anyone familiar with this old game? I scored a 2nd edition rulebook recently and it made me realize how much I liked the mechanics of the game, especially the Critical Tables. It's a bit like Rolemaster Lite, for lack of a better definition, but still good stuff. Thanks in advance! Scotty

Wow, I haven't heard of MERP in probably 20 years. I still remember those crit tables.
Yeah, it is in fact, a subset of Rolemaster. All the people I know that play or have played LoTR themed games recently do One Ring, by Cubicle 7.
I'm not familiar with that game, Felix -- I'll look it up. Yep, Shawn, that's why I love(d) it -- the Crit Tables. "Trip over an imaginary deceased turtle and break neck." Heh. A silly example, to be sure, but proof that no battle outcome was a sure thing, regardless of the odds.
I still have some MERP stuff somewhere but I don't think I have any of the rulebooks. I'd be interested in playing depending on schedule.
Has anyone used something similar to scribd.com to upload rules too? Would this be a copyright violation or infringement? I want to make old MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) rules from Iron Crown Enterprises rules available to others, so that we all have access to them.
I love the MERP books. They had very nice cartography, and although they took liberty with much of Tolkien's source material, they did so with style. I'm not sold on the actual game system, but it's not bad. And yes, I still have about two feet of MERP books on the shelf :).
It would be intellectual property infringement, since ICE is still around, having come back some years ago. You might be able to get a license or limited license from them. here's their I.P. page: http://ironcrown.com/ice-ip/ A lot of those guys are around on various facebook RPG groups.
Didn't want to brake any rules, I was just unaware that ICE was still around. Riddle me this; why isn't Rolemaster one of the options for the games on here?
Probably because the last time I saw a fellow owner of RM was circa 15 years ago. It's not a well-known game at all anymore.
That's a sad, sad statement indded, patrick.
