Cody's video is very very old. For NPCs at least, I would recommend this solution. Takes five minutes and affects every creature in the game (at least for 5e—it could be re-written for other sheets) NPC Statblock Chat Menu for D&D 5e sheet — No API required! This approach could be adapted for PCs, but PCs are far more complicated with a lot more edge cases.
