Creature Tokens Keep Resetting

I've been having a lot of problems with tokens lately.  But let's focus on one: I recently purchased Tome of Beasts and love all the new creatures available to fill campaign adventures.  Lately, I've noticed ToB tokens that I have placed no longer represent those ToB characters.  Sometimes the creature gets moved to a different typical D&D5e compendium creature -- or no longer has any creature selected in the Represents Character field of the token settings.  This has become very frustrating.  I often setup a map in a different game and have it imported over via transmogrification.  Last time I did this, about a week ago, nearly all the ToB tokens were messed up.  I took time to fix them at that time.  However, this morning I checked, and they are all messed up again.  No transmogrification this time, but it is the same map and tokens.  Note: Sometimes the creature isn't listed in the Represents Character field and I have to delete the token and pull it back out from the compendium search.  Sometimes when I have to repull the creature from the compendium, it won't load the character, or even the token art, at all and I have to try a few times before it works.  What's causing this? And how do I prevent it from happening? It's very frustrating and takes time to search through a dungeon map to keep fixing these.  Thanks

One thing that might be good is to not just delete the token you are having trouble with, but also the sheet/journal entry as well.  The compendium won't overwrite anything that already exists by the same name in the journal.  Deleting both tokens and sheet will make sure you are dragging in a completely new instance.  Any tokens representing the deleted sheet that exist on other maps will be "orphaned" and no longer have a sheet to represent (because the specific one they represented is gone), so you will need to replace all tokens on all maps that represent that creature.

It is also possible to overwrite a creature if its sheet is open while you are dragging out another creature. That used to be a big problem. I tried just now however, and was unable to get it to happen. Interesting.

You can rename an existing journal entry instead of simply deleting it, if you are unsure whether you really want to delete the journal entry.
I have seen this before also; though not in a while.  keithcurtis said: It is also possible to overwrite a creature if its sheet is open while you are dragging out another creature. That used to be a big problem. I tried just now however, and was unable to get it to happen. Interesting.
Thanks, I'll keep this in mind.  Kraynic said: One thing that might be good is to not just delete the token you are having trouble with, but also the sheet/journal entry as well.
