Kimberly P. said: Hey Simon, given Bryn's interest in poisons (where she's always looking to see if she can find the poison that killed her mom), I'd like to work up to the point where she can make some / collect ingredients (hopefully more successfully than with the giant centipedes, blast them). I see this list here: https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Poisons#content Any advice on how to find actual recipes? Do I just need the Herbalism Kit or do I need a poisoner's kit as well? It looks like there are no hard and fast rules & it's mostly up to the DM? https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/rules-game-mechanics/13614-crafting-with-poisoners-kit Hi Kimberly - with Poisoner's Kit proficiency you can craft poisons. You likely want to go Assassin at 3rd level. The XGTE crafting rules are at https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Rules:Downtime%20Activities?expansion=6#h-Crafting%20an%20Item (you should be able to access if logged in to Roll20 I hope). Basically 50gp worth of crafting per week. Usually your best bet is to extract venom from dead monsters, but if you want it to keep you need to turn it into a poison by adding stabiliser & preservatives... I'll work out something reasonable for the time needed, prob divide time & cost by ten for the more expensive ones so eg crafting wyvern venom poison 1500/50 = 30 weeks, divide by 10 = 3 weeks, 150gp worth of ingredients per dose, and at higher level allowing multiple doses to be worked on at once.
