Introduction Welcome to the world of Ceres ; a large, lush moon orbiting the Forgotten Realms planet, Toril . The surface of Ceres is a vast ocean-world of countless scattered, small continents of diverse biomes and civilizations. The adventure takes place on the continent of Unedoa ; a chilling landscape enveloped in black clouds and hidden beneath nearly endless storms. Unedoa remains isolated from civilization on the other side of the Cottlegue Sea , as powerful waves prevent even the strongest vessel from breaking apart on its jagged coast. Beyond its shore, Unedoa rings true as a land of isolation as sunken swamps hiding ruins of conquered kingdoms past and twisting forests shrouded in endless darkness act as barriers between small villages and decrepit cities relying on thick stone walls for protection from prowling beasts and lurking monstrosities outside. Background For only one month out of every year, a relentless storm that darkens the skies of Unedoa passes and is replaced with quiet tranquility and warm sunlight; its wandering monsters retreating deep into the land’s dark forests and barren swamps. During this time, its humanoid inhabitants make quick plans for trade and commerce; carving routes throughout the land, harvesting food and supplies, and preparing once more for the returning Gruelstorm . This year, as cities and villages across the dark landscape prepared for the Lightfall Harvest , the skies only grew darker and panic began to set in, supplies dwindling and fear rising across the fortified villages and cities of Unedoa. As the days pass, beasts and monstrosities become more bold and bloodthirsty and humankind huddles in the darkness, surviving and awaiting the end.
