D&D Next LFP: Fallcrest Journey: The Dread Ronin's Hideout - One Shots

Hey there folks, I'm looking to test some of my Pirates/Oriental themed content by running some 1-shots throughout the next few days, starting July 6th at 5pm MST. If you or your group/guild is interested in running it, please post here or PM me. I will be running a game Tomorrow (July 6th) at 5pm MST, but after that I am willing to negotiate time & date. Experience is not necessary, and i can help players through Character Creation. As for the actual game, we will be using the Alpha Draft of the D&D Next rules, which is the expanded version of the rules that were just released save for a few bits and pieces. We use Skype to communicate before and during our games, Mics are required . Player Characters will start at level Seven, and you should assume your PC is both competent and adept at adventuring. PC's have 1,500gp to start with. The theme is Oriental Pirates; so I'm looking for Samurai Captains, Ninja Smugglers, Sumo Brigands, Ronin Pirates, etc. (Apologies for only putting Japanese examples) Most common races are available, and if you would like to use an unusual race you should confirm it first with me. Human and Elves are the most common races in this part of the world and choosing a Human or Elf as your Race will give you 2,000gp Starting gold instead of 1,500gp. All Classes are available. I will generally allow a minor magical item for 1,000gp, and you should discuss with me what properties it would have. Gunpowder is available, but highly regulated due to its power (As it overcomes both Dexterity and Armor) so although guns cost as much as a Crossbow, the powder itself costs 50gp a shot and takes one minute to reload. Armor on boats is generally Light or Medium, as heavy armor is difficult to take off in a hurry. If you cannot breath underwater, taking heavy armor is ill-advised. I will be Streaming the games, and most likely be putting them on Youtube. Although these games are One-Shots, it is likely that there is too much content to complete in a single game, and a second game will most likely be required for the full experience. If you have any additional questions or wish to post your interest, you may PM me or Post Below. -J

Last game ran great (Although, since it's a two parter, we won't know if they survived or not until next week). Looking to run another one tomorrow, July 8th, but i'll settle for Friday if people need more time. *wink*
Make sure to PM me your Skype handle too! Makes it easier for me to talk to you.
I'm new to Roll 20 and would like to join. I have a basic charactor created and would be willing to modify him to fit this campain.

I wont be able to play the 8th (that would be tonight my time), but Friday should be fine. You already have my Skype :)
I'm interested but I have a question: when you say the Alpha Draft, do you mean the Basic Rules PDF that Wizards put out for free?
Would love to get in on this either July 8th or friday. Still haven't had a chance to try out dnd next. Let me know!
The "Alpha Draft" is the alpha version of the Player's Handbook that is not yet released. It was the continuation of the last October PlayTest documents. The Alpha contains more information than the Basic Rules do. The Alpha isn't publicly available, technically, but a lot of people have it. I'm sure you could use the Basic Rules without issue; very little was changed and you're just missing some of the extra options that the Alpha included.
Speaking of which; John, do you have room for a High Elf Rogue trickster? Let's call him... Puck?

Always room for you Mark. That makes six players, which should be Perfect. If you guys are all cool playing Friday, it will give me time to help the new players with Character Creation. I'll Whisper you all individually to request your Skype Handles. We can still go for a few more players, if anyone is interested. (New players includeded)
Ah... Friday. Mea Culpa, I thought this was for this evening. Small chance that I'd be free on Friday, but unlikely
Grrm, Most players who applied have not responded afterwards, so still looking for players for this friday's game (around 5pm mst).
Hey John! I'm free tonight for a oneshot if you still need a player. Let me know who/what you have already, and I can build accordingly.
