Hi all, my name is Gibson and I am a forever DM here looking for a group of players to experience the vast and open world of  Black Books,  a personal homebrew universe that has encapsulated countless groups, stories, and adventures. Here is this time the world is still recovering four hundred years after a world ending event known as  "The 12 Depths" , a cataclysmic storm that raged across the known lands destroying everything in its wake. In the time since the 12 Depths, the world has began to flourish again as the descendants of those who have survived begin to form civilizations, discover and understand old world technology, and set sail for vast riches and power in a almost untamed new world filled with danger, adventure, and mysteries. What mark will you and your crew make on this perilous time in history? Between Tashas Cauldron of everything expanded race rules and Kibbles Tasty Classes / Matthew Mercer there are a myriad of choices of who and what you can be. Elite Array for Characters - Worried about being underpowered compared to your party? Worry not as I use the Elite Array system for base stats with all characters from session 0 starting at level 3: [15,14,13,12,10,8] Who am I looking for This game is open to alignment and experience level. I have DM'ed enough games that I tailor difficulty around the group and less around those that can meta their way through 5e. Give me your crazy characters that are willing to explore adventure and pirate the seas. You can be good or bad but as long as we are having fun and you play by the rules then adventure to your hearts content. Requirements: Willingness to appear at meeting times and attend regularly Real life always comes before D&D so I completely understand scheduling, work, or family related issues. Just make sure you are showing up to sessions regularly and if you need to miss just send me a message even 30 mins before game. I strongly encourage having a solid quality mic or headset so the party and myself can hear and communicate effectively with you Willingness to go with rule of cool "Be cool to others and others will be cool to you" is a phrase I live by. Your party members may not be quite as experienced as you are so give them a little slack. We are here to have fun and enjoy friendly company and a game. You can make noises, funny character voices, really get into your game as this is a no judgement and ERP free zone. Play and be who you want to be here and be respectful of others because they will be respectful of you. Creative and engaging My games always have a good amount of intrigue, plot, and what I call "Michael Bay" moments of action in them. This is not a sit and play on your phone while we have a session campaign. I love my players interacting and storytelling with each other, the world, and npcs alike! I’ve been playing for around a year but have been both a player and a DM and have written 2 one-shots that have been played through by my local group. Yeah I know its not much, and I wont lie to try to up my chances.  I did however play 8 months to a year of 4e for what ever that's worth a few years back. This isn't something I've put a lot of thought into partly since I'm just getting back into 5e. I do love dragonborn and dragons, as Dragons have been my favorite fantasy creature since childhood. What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: From my party? People that are fun and laid back, all there to have a positive experience and enjoy the night.     From my DM? Story telling! I love open hooks and freedom but I also wouldn't mind some kind of over arcing story.  Making our choices and actions matter and have consequences, good or bad!   Exploration and even some puzzles!   Interesting combat,  Most games I've play the combat has been fine but not challenging to the point the party has to think about running.  I'm not looking for TPK all the time, just something where the party needs to consider running or the need to make a plan up ahead of time to even the odds.

My regular group recently had to go on hiatus due to major life changes in over half the party. Over the years I've DM'd a bit but mostly played. I've made my way around to playing all the core classes and most of the races and while I enjoy some over others I always manage to find a way to have fun with each and every one, mostly through backstory and role play. A bit about you: I'm a professional dog trainer living in Michigan (in my younger years I worked as a Knight at Medieval Times in Schaumburg Il. always a fun little bit of info for a D&D crowd). I love sports of all sorts. I grew up playing ice hockey in the Chicagoland area and am a huge Blackhawks fan. I love the outdoors but I also really enjoy a quiet night in with a book or a movie. I enjoy video games but my preferences are limited to rpg's and the occasional mmo. Lately I've been really into playing pool and I practice regularly. What is a dream character, despite class or race, that you would like to play, not just in my game, but in any 5e game: I have two: A 'summoner' with a god complex who's goal it is to raise an army of devils and demons to do his bidding. The second is a heartless criminal/murderer who Lathander decides to make an example of to show that even the most wretched can be 'reborn' and selects him as a 'chosen one', bestowing him with a conscience which causes him to actually have feeling now for the lives he's taken and the people he's wronged. He struggles with this for some time only to eventually come around and begin to realize the value in others and ultimately in himself. But I'll be keeping these ideas on the backburner still. What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: As far as players go, hey just be cool and let's have some fun! As far as in game party members go, Let's mix it up a bit, let's challenge each other with some differing personalities and morale codes. Let's take the time to talk (or argue) it out. Let's not be perfect, let's be a bit dysfunctional. Dysfunctional is always fun. :) For the DM, Some hack and slash is always satisfying in the moment but the allowance for character development and a dynamic story with intriguing side stories go a long for max enjoyment.

I have played a couple of short sessions of Pathfinder with friends and DnD 5e once at a story a few years back. But I'm very eager to play I have all the starting stuff just looking for a group to play with. A bit about you: I'm Canadian, Currently finishing my last semester in College where I'm getting my Computer Systems Diploma, and hoping to be a programmer after(Undecided in what field yet). I have always loved stories whether they are good or bad as long as it makes me connect with the character or gives me a feeling, be it epic or sad, I will enjoy it. I also really enjoy socializing with people through games, I played the MTG card game at my LGS at least once a week before COVID and have made many friends in my community though playing and just having fun. I also really enjoy cooking that I don't do it nearly often enough but when I do I try to make a lot so it will last me awhile, The last thing I cooked was actually the 'Tik Tok pasta' which I would recommend having if you like pasta.  Evening days available in central standard time zone: I'm currently available any day of the week after 6pm (GMT -7) but Mondays I can do after 3 and weekends I can do whatever time works. What is a dream character, despite class or race, that you would like to play, not just in my game, but in any 5e game: My dream character would have to be either the funny man or real quirky, someone that makes myself, the group or preferably everyone laugh, they're serious when the situation calls for it but are always trying to light mode when they can. My character is always living their life the way they want to even if that means causing a bit of chaos at times. What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: Honestly I just want a very chill group of people that want to have a good time in a crazy magical fantasy world. and a that DM lets players have epic moments, and rewards creativity while also not giving us exactly what we want all the time. I guess if you know who Brennan Mulligan of Dimension 20 is then I would love a DM with a similar mindset/approach as him.

But its been a while that I wanted to play a Viking type of PC or a drunk pirate like Jack Sparrow. What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: I always like a party that help each other, even though there are times for a 1 man mission or split the group. We are all here to learn from each other and help other players. Also roleplaying their character since most forget that is a different person. Also the want to have fun and make new friends since that is what D&D is supposed to be for. Also for the DM, I like someone that keep it interesting, make a twist once in a while to keep it fresh. Evening days available in central standard time zone: As my above job is 24/7 I am free for "standard" evenings Tuesday through Thursday. As I work 1am CT to 1pm Saturday and Sunday, Friday nights would have to end before 1am the next day. What is a dream character, despite class or race, that you would like to play, not just in my game, but in any 5e game: I've always been a sucker for a good redemption arc. Regardless of class or race or setting, at the end my ideal character is one that would draw some deep seeded emotion. A single tear at the end of a movie, End Game comes to mind. Captain A. picking up the broken shield and Thor's hammer, continuing  the fight. The saddness in RDJ (Iron Man) when he knows he has to snap. What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: A party that plays off of each other. You can min-max all day so long as your party and DM are fine with it. My ideal group is a group of people that try and read the room. You don't have to be the best. Remember its the journey etc etc. At the end of the day we are all looking to have fun. I have done the min-max try hard games, I have done the relaxed low fantasy games. I enjoy them all. I just want a party on the same page.
