Greetings Cat Lady of Doom.   I'm Jerrod, go by Mara... most often DM. I currently run a few games pay to play over Roll20, with access to all of the material for character creation on DnDBeyond, speaking over discord. I would be happy to take some time to explain the ropes for you, run a one shot and or throw you all into the thick of it and have you join a campaign.  Most of my campaigns are designed to be beginner friendly and most of my online players are all in their first or second campaign.  While I am open to talking about the experience you are looking for. I 100% suggest jumping in the deep end and experiencing the joy of the table first hand.  There is a small learning curve for the tools before it is absolutely best to experience in game time.

I noticed you didn't mention which game you were both looking at and were curious about. Regardless, I bet it's a game I'm very familiar with and wouldn't mind teaching and running a one shot for. I have almost a decade of experience, close to 5000 hours on Roll20, and can gain access to whatever digital materials you are looking for. I also volunteered at my local library to teach these kinds of games anyway, to kids and to adults, and only had to stop due to the pandemic. Assuming our schedules line up, most weekday evenings and Saturdays should work. We can definitely have you taught and playing in a week or two.
