I want to organize the order of my journal items

There are so many better ways to organize for a game than stacking character sheets and handouts in alphabetical order. No, I don't want to use a tagging system. Yes, I do want to choose how I order my handouts and character sheets.

I would love to be able to drag and drop them in the order I like.
The oft-requested 'folders' system would be nice.

Yeah well the devs was very clear about that not happening a while ago.

(If we could just get /direct whispers, I'd be happy.) Did the devs indicate why they are so anti-folder?

yes but I can't remember it off hand but they aren't anti-folder just it is a feature they are not looking at implementing.
R"iley likes tags. A lot. I'm guessing it took a lot of work to get it the way he likes it, so he's kinda invested in seeing it used. I don't think he wants to set up a 'competing' system.

I'd argue "complementary" if anything. Two completely different mind mapping methods.
My handouts are not some enormous wikipedia, or google. They are a short (okay, medium) stack of papers that simply need to be grouped by similarity. I don't want to "search" my way through them. I want to go to the correct pile, and scan quickly to get what I need. I consider it much more efficient. My current alternative is to use other software. It's fantastic software, but I only have so much screen real estate. I'd prefer if Roll20 would simply let me order my handouts. (It doesn't necessarily require folders, although I understand it is very similar and in the same vein of thinking.) That's the suggestion. That's the request.

Title each handout with the characters named, like this - "Bruce - Equipment", then "Bruce - Spells" ect, if nothing else it will place them in alphabetic order. If they are handouts for all to see then place the game or campaigns name first, again it will keep them in order for you. I don't use roll20 anymore to run my game(and never will again) but that was the trick I used to keep them all in order.
I had thought about something like that. A0, A1, etc. But it gets messed once I want to reorder things, and then have to relabel all the interfering handouts. Still, it's probably the only useful solution.

Quintus, I am not sure what you wanna reorder but I cannot see the idea I have messing with that. Wanna reorder it?, then adjust the names, use the alphabetic order to your advantage. Sounds like you're making this harder for yourself then it needs to be, I have found a solution for my own problem. Screen sharing the map to my players on skype and using a site to open a small room that allows dice rolling, this allows you to use "word pad" ect. A little rar(winrar) to dump the files into and send quickly over skype, that takes care of file sharing. I run a home-brewed game so I don't have to depend on the market and with this new method of running games online, allows me to bypass programs full of trolls and the like. Note: I don't use minis. The reason I point out this here is cause when I DM'd here I found out the "code of conduct" rules do not apply to the "active/disabled" page created by the "looking for groups" system when you join that, meaning the "active/disabled" page is part of the "looking for group" system. The "code of conduct" rules says it covers the "looking for group" system but the moderators(Nolan T.J directly said this) say that the "active/disabled" is not part of the "looking for group" system, meaning the "code of conduct" rules do not apply to the "active/disabled" page. This means you can troll the "active/disabled" page to no end. Yes there maybe ways around it but this means it can be impossible to recruit for some DMs/GMs here and even have their game judged due to trolls posting negative things, the only way to deal with trolls is to delete their comments but they can simply refresh the comment, defeating the purpose in being able to delete them. Hence why I stopped DMing here.
I would also make a point of asking the Devs to reconsider the Folders issue, it would improve the situation enormously.
