Whatever your reason for being up this late at night might just have been worth it. You hear the town guards frantically gathering towards the center of town. Rushing out into the darkened streets, you can see members of the Hope militia gathered around a body. Not just any body. The body of an adventurer sprawled out as if they had been dropped from the sky, their body covered in deep cuts, claw marks, bite marks, and multiple other injuries vying for the honor of having been the cause of death. Clutched in the dead man's hands is a crumpled note. The note reads: Garrett, At long last, I have found a buyer for my family's accursed manor. Though it pains me to sell the family's ancestral home, my finances are precarious and I cannot foresee a time where I would ever feel comfortable resting beneath that roof. It's for the best. With that in mind, I may have neglected to inform the buyer of all the... pecularities that abound within the house. It was hard enough selling a dilapidated old manor so far from civilization without divulging the specifics of its hauntings and various other quirks. I am asking you, old friend, to assemble a team and see to the cleansing of the property. I know not how long this will take, but do not doubt that it is a perilous thing I ask of you. With that in mind, you may present this note to David the Gnome in Hope in order to secure additional finances to assemble your team. He will arrange for the payment of 1,000 gold pieces to you for each floor of the manor you're able to successfully cleanse. I trust you to be honest in this, of course, but this letter is also enchanted to ensure none of your less savory hires try to abscond with the money. When a level is cleared, you will see a bloody watermark appear at the foot of this letter. Only then will David release a payment to you. Enclosed is the key to the servant's entrance. I suggest you start there and then work your way through the place level by level. Only then will my buyer take possession of the home, as I cannot afford the bad publicity of being the man who accidentally got a future king killed. Best of luck, old friend! Furious' Seventh Letter to Oak *Furious sponsors an Orphanage in Darromar where he spent a number of years as an Orphan himself. Oak is a youngster at the Orphanage that he has a close relationship with. He has not talked about this with the group.* [7] Dear Oak, When you are of age, should you determine to follow in my footsteps and seek your fortune and fame through exploration and adventure... should you happen upon a halfling named Elphim I have to pieces of advice... watch your butt and don't let her navigate... aside from that she is perfectly nice. I write this during some "down time" my usual group of adventurers has grown to encompass a large half-oni (apparently full on Oni is even larger) barbarian and a reptilian cleric... both seem worthy additions to our cohort and should provide useful on tackling this rather overrun with undead and acid slime mansion that we are tasked with clearing.  I'll try to be brief(er)... we left Hope, got lost approximately 782 times (see note on aforementioned navigator), fought quite a number of skeletons as well as an old man that wasn't an old man at all, but some sort of nasty piece of ghoulish business. Upon finally arriving at our destination we parleyed with an ethereal butler who seemed unaware that he wasn't strictly alive... he left us in peace(?) but the first room we entered had twelve skeletons as well as an acid slime that fell on me and... burned. We have located a couple of secret doors as well as 30 silver goblets and a ridiculously oversized halberd... I am writing this while I wait for someone to heal my acid burns... someone? Anyone? Bueller?... Bueller? .... Bueller! Buckle down and stay out of the slime, young one. Sincerely, Furious
Blessings of the Morning Lord - Borin's Thoughts Oh wise Morning Lord, Ah remember how much yeh treasure new ventures and with that in mind, Ah headed oot with a likely bunch to follow up on a castle that seems overrun with undead. There’s Vesrot , the mask wearing sorcerer who looks like he wants to take a bite of me whenever Ah glance over at him! Hogo , the giant half-Oni with a quick temper and quicker blade. The sneaky halflings Trym and Elphim who move so quickly and quietly, I cannae always tell them apart. One o’them calls me Boris… Then there’s Furious the nimble elf and Plank the jolly ol fella. A pretty cheery group all told, Ah cannae lie, it does ma heart good to hear their laughter as we travel. Even though the marshes are full o’ dangers, nothing chills the bones like a nighttime assault by the undead filth. Skeletons are nae bother but the appearance of an “old man” leading them too us and “turning” when they were behind our lines waste expected. Fortunately, Ah dinnae think it expected a pair of guiding bolts from Vesrot and yours truly. Plank , Hogo , and Furious were happy battering ol’ bones up close with the halfling menace of Trym and Elphim appearing and disappearing into the night at will… We found the mansion eventually. Ah dinnae think the “butler” understands he’s dead but he seems harmless enough so Ah dinnae think we need to worry aboot him for now. The entrance is full of portraits but it wasnae until we got to a dining hall that things got truly “interesting”!! A multitude of skeletons awaited. It seemed Elphim wanted to try walkin’ in and pretending we were part of a band - and people say Ah’m unhinged!! The fight was tough with so many of the filth ter deal with but it felt good standing side-by-side with Plank and freeing up the arms. Furious and Hogo holding the right flank, while we held the left. Trym ’s weapons are as fast as her tongue and she wrecked pretty havoc dashing in between friend and foe. Elphim ’s arrows were less effective against the undead than against other creatures but she was also dealing serious damage. Vesrot was wisely keeping his distance too, he looks like a stiff breeze could blow him away but there’s nae denying his bravery! Balancing healing and offense, he proved a great ally! Furious nearly fell to some weird ooze dripping from the ceiling but otherwise, we held together pretty well. Looking around after the fight, we found a number of goblets, a giant halbard ( Hogo swears that’s how it was spelt…) and a number of bodies. This is a grim place that Ah look forward to cleansing… all praise the light o’tha Morning Lord!!!
