GM Academy Workshop Special Event: Building a Campaign ******July 9, 2014 (Wednesday)****** 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time - Special 2 hour time Introduction to the event and participants Tools we will be using to create an entire campaign Designing a campaign from scratch Incorporating PCs into the campaign This is the event we have been building up to with all the other workshops. In two days the GM Academy workshop will be presenting a special event: Designing a Campaign! Over the course of two hours we will be designing an ENTIRE campaign from beginning to end using the tools we have talked about in the previous workshops. Everything from the plot, to the combat encounters, to incorporating the 8 kinds of fun, designing villains, and even working your PCs back story into the campaign. We are going to do it all. This is something that has not been done before in the world of tabletop. Sure anyone can make a video showing how they design a campaign, that is easy. What we are going to do is show you how the tools work so you can build you own (no creativity required!). Thoughout the event myself and three panelist will be will be going in turn order, each designing one piece of the campaign, then turning it over to the next person for the next piece and so on until we have a finished campaign. The final product will not be the result of one man's innate creativity. The final product will be the result anyone can achieve if they follow the basic steps in campaign design. Even four people with their own individual thoughts, and no foreknowledge of the ideas of the others, can make a compelling campaign. Sound like fun? It sure will be, I am confident this will be the the single most interesting thing you have seen in the last year relating to tabletop (take that D&D Next). This is a special event so there are a few things different from the normal workshops. First, the participants have already been chosen. There was a posting about two weeks ago outlining the application process and we have made our selections. There are no empty seats in the workshop so the only live attendees will be the choosen participants. But we will absolutely be live streaming the event for all to follow and those that are following will be able to interact and ask questions as normal. Second, this is a two hour event. Actually, we will go as long as it takes to complete the event but we are expecting somewhere between 1.5 hours and 2. There will be a small break at the 1 hour mark. During this break we will close out the video and the live stream and a new one will be launched (this allows us to break up the final video into two parts.) So if you are following long with the live event, just know at the 1 hour mark we will be breaking and there will be a new stream with a new link to follow. There you go, this event promises to be something special. I cannot tell you how excited I am for it. I will see you at the table! http://youtu.be/HZCarpWtGaY -[GM] Keaggan P.S. All GMs are proud members of our Roll20 community!
