A thousand years ago, all non-human races were driven off the material plane and fled to a demiplane within purgatory, an event which scholars refer to as “the War on Magi”. The desolate land within purgatory was dubbed “Wisteria” and divided into settlements, each ruled by a descendant of the original settlers. Moreover, the seemingly discriminatory nature of the preceding war motivated those in power to build the settlements in the image of harmony and racial unity, arguably most well represented by the city of Freesia. The few humans that came along to Wisteria weren’t accounted for in this unity due to their betrayal and were instead hunted and driven into hiding. The Wisterian Empire wished to usher in a new age of peace and, together with a committee of powerful spellcasters called the Council of Magic, established the Wisterian Federation and Peace Law. This legislation restricted the use of magic and carrying of weapons. Though, much like all power, the Federation became corrupt, wanting to restrict the use of magic solely to the higher classes by slowly making the Peace Law much stricter and the procuring of magic items much more expensive. Currently, the year is 1051 EW (Ensuing the War) and the rift between the races and classes has become much greater than it has ever been. The lower classes know very little of magic and discriminate against magic users, calling them witches, and tensions are rising between the various settlements and their leaders. But between the disarray, a rebellion has begun taking shape, led by a group calling themselves “the Insurgence”. Made up of those who wish to free the people of Wisteria of the tyranny of its government (or of those who see profit in this uprising), the Insurgence has been recruiting people in secret and planning to overthrow the Federation from the shadows. You ended up wanting to align yourself with the Insurgence and are now in Freesia, where the headquarters of the rebellion is supposedly located. Will you rise to the occasion and be victorious against the all-powerful Wisterian Federation, or will you betray the rebellion for the money and power it offers? Hi! I’m Ana, a newer DM but experienced player and I’m looking for about three to four people for a role-play/story heavy (LGBT-friendly) campaign in my homebrew setting, Wisteria! We’d be playing on Roll20 and using discord for voice chat. I’m mainly looking for somewhat experienced players (though relative newcomers are also welcome) and, of course, players who love roleplay! The story is somewhat serious and I’m expecting the players to also take it seriously and not just murderhobo or quip throughout the entirety of the game. Now this doesn’t mean that players can’t make jokes or anything, I do love to joke around every now and then, but the overall tone of the campaign will be serious. I’d like for the campaign to involve a lot of roleplay with the NPCs, but also with the other players to really create a sense of comradery between the PCs and the players, so active roleplayers are very much welcome here! Players who love writing interesting characters with intricate lore are also very much welcome, as I’d expect every player to write a small summary of who their character is and what their backstory is. Don’t worry, I’m not expecting players to write five pages of lore, but a page or two would suffice. My homebrew setting is somewhat different from the normal D&D settings as I’ve specifically designed this world to be more accommodating for players wanting to play monstrous races. You may pick any playable race from the Player's Hand Book, from Elemental Evil Player's Companion and from Volo's Guide to Monsters, but Aarakocra, Lizardfolk, Triton, and Yuan-ti Pureblood are not allowed (Humans are allowed, despite what the description of the game may imply). There are more rules and buffs/changes that I want to implement, but that’ll be important for when you’ll actually be creating a character for the game. The setting is still in-development and can be changed somewhat to suit the players, but the lore document can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DRRweoTk3pR7XUASXusamZDjIKk7HOch8hy8MG9T0v0/edit?usp=sharing Anyway, the game doesn’t have an exact start date as I’ll be looking for players for a while and interviewing those who are interested. If you’d like to apply for a spot, please direct message me the following info about yourself: Name: Age: Discord tag: Experience with 5E and other TTRPGs: Why you want to join the campaign: Your wants and desires out of the campaign: Your wants and desires out of me as a DM: A little bit about yourself: An example/short backstory of a character you’ve made or want to play: Any additional questions or comments: After I’ve gathered enough applications, I’ll be doing short interviews through discord. This may take a few weeks, so it may take a while for me to get back to you. Thank you for reading through my LFP post and I hope you’ll apply if interested!!
