Animated Tokens

The animated tokens I just bought don't seem to work with dynamic lighting.  Even without dynamic lighting, if I put one down and return it turns into a solid black block.  Is there a fix for this? Here's an example trying to use animated smoke effects;

I've been seeing the "Animation turns into a black box" effect also, for the last couple months. Played Roll20 with animations before that & never saw this effect for months of gaming.  I don't know the cause, or what to do to troubleshoot this. Maybe send a report to Roll20 "Help Center" if you feel like it.
I was able to solve the issue to my own satisfaction.  The animations revert back to their intended appearance by refreshing the page.  And they also work with dynamic lighting.  They don't appear to move when placed, but a check of what the players see with "command-L" reveals that they are animated as they should.
FYI, Ctrl-L is not a reliable indicator of "what the players see" - it is intended for checking L ine of sight (hence the L) only. Your best bet to see what players will see is to create a free, secondary account and invite that account to your game as a player. Even then, with animations, the end result may depend on your players' connection ISP, connection speed, connection quality, computer power, video card, etc., so inviting your players into the game may be the best way to tell what they will see.
