[LFP][PAID][5E][EST][Wednesdays 18:30PM] "The Barbary Bay" - Pirate Sandbox Adventure Campaign Looking For Players

Introduction & Campaign Description Roll20 Post:   Roll20 Listing Ahoy there matees, my group and I are searching for a few players to join a brand new campaign that is starting this week. My campaign is fairly different from those offered by other Dungeon Masters on this forum, as I run a Swords & Sorcery Sandbox experience, where you as players may explore and adapt the story as you go. Whilst there are indeed quests, over-arching stories and plot devices, its up to you as the players to decide which direction to sail into. The campaign is set in a large open world with the players being located in a warm, dry arid region to the south-east of my great map. The people here are typically tanned skinned, similarly to the Dornish from Game of Thrones. Cities and Towns thrive upon the waters here, and pirates, privateers and other sorts work and fight for whatever cause they want. This group is one of three groups in this campaign world. The really cool thing about my campaigns is that my groups all play in the same world, at the same time. This means whilst you and your companions battle a rival ship upon the waters, or come across monsters in the sea, another group could be duelling witches, persuading giants, or slaying dragons. Whilst none of my groups have met each other yet, they have met NPCS in the world who have been with multiple groups, or at least multiple people. I think this is what West-Marches is supposed to be, as my experience with West March Communities has always been sour. World Tone and What to Expect In most campaigns, you play whatever you want, whether its a tiefling, a dragonborn, a goblin, or whatever else takes your fantasy. I specifically run low-fantasy, so I do not allow my players to play whatever class they'd want from RAW. Think of my campaign like Lord of the Rings, the Witcher, or Game of Thrones. This campaign has a setting, a reality, one that you'll love to explore, because a lot of it makes sense. When making characters, it's encouraged to think about the world, and take inspiration from the various orders, cults, factions, and creatures who live in this world. My campaigns elsewhere in this world are based off Eastern Fae-Lore and Mythology, so daemons, faeries, spirits, ghosts, and things like that are more practical, this campaign that I'm advertising may take elements of this world into the campaign, but this is going to be a bit more swashbuckly. I think what I'm offering you as a special experience, one you may have not had with other DMs. I do not see myself as a "Professional DM", as I think that label is quite frankly ridiculous and arrogant, but I'd like to think that I am of a standard where I can supply you with enjoyment for 3-5 hours a week through exciting combats, riveting roleplay, and dramatic scenarios. Why you should join my game I'm offering a different experience in comparison to a majority of DMs on this forums. I plan to run you a tailored experience in an interesting, expansive homebrew setting, rather than following a pre-written module with little flexibility. I'm offering you the opportunity to play with a passionate, invested dungeon master with a vested interest in the world he is running games in. I make YouTube Videos, and livestream my Sunday Campaign every week. Here is the link to my channel:  Solmund's YouTube Channel I use a variety of maps, music, and tokens to add visual effects to the games I run. I have a number of homebrew rules that I have introduced into my games in the past year that have made my games so much better and easier to understand. I actually use a voice modulator on occasion to really give you the feeling that you're talking to something alien, something different. Players really dig it. My games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and welcomes adults of any age. Why do I charge? Up until recently, I didn't do paid games. I was always of the mindset that if your passion becomes a job, you'll lose your passion. I also had a minset similar to some other people I've seen on here and Reddit that paid DMs aren't typically worth it, and this hobby shouldn't be priced. Most of them are typically similar to Free DMs, and some are scam artists who are just trying to milk you out of your hard earned cash before dropping you on your ass and blocking you on discord. I've seen the horror stories, I even have some on my channel. This isn't the case for some of my peers who run paid games, but I think there is definitely a bit of a taboo on running games that charge. But the truth is that I was between jobs with Covid when I first considered doing this, and I was encouraged by my partner to try this out. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, or if it would even work. But I'm now 4 or 5 months into running paid games, and I haven't looked back. I wouldn't have enough time to run multiple groups if I wasn't accepting payment, as it wouldn't be practical and allow me to pay bills and put food on the table. So this is really the only way I'd have enough time to plan, prepare, and run multiple games and bring my world and adventures to more people. Before this, I was only playing once a week, on Sundays. Some people see Paid DMs as awful people, turning a beloved hobby into a cash-grab. I want you to be aware if you are reading this that I don't think I'm a horrible person, nor do I think that D&D should be a paid-game. But if you're comfortable enough in life that you would be happy to part with fifteen dollars a week to have a detailed, exciting sandbox experience with other, like-minded individuals, then I may be your guy. I think the main reason players would consider paying for this is because they are tired of being messed around by free DMs and other players who don't appreciate this hobby the same way they do. I'll let you know in advance that I don't flake on my games, as my other players would tell you (if you joined our Discord). I'm the real deal, and I'm eager to start talking to you if you'd like to reach out. Each session is currently priced at $15 per session per week. These sessions can last anywhere from 3-6 hours depending on player's schedules. Session 0 and character creation is free, but the first session does charge to join. I do have an archive of livestreamed content of how I run my games if you are unsure on joining, alternatively you could always spectate one of my games and see what its like first-hand. Disclaimer: Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. If you are interested and meet our simple criteria, please reach out to me via Discord:  Solmund#3522
Our first session was fantastic this week. We've got 4 players now, just looking for a sixth. They're currently exploring a tropical island in the ocean, fighting crocodiles and various other creatures. We're looking for a fifth and potentially a sixth player! :)
Preparing the Wednesday's game for tomorrow. I'll be happy to introduce any new players tomorrow if any of you reading this are interested!
Just finished the session. It was fantastic. We're looking for a sixth player to join to help us in our boss fight. It's crazy but the extra player could help.
We've got a big finale happening tomorrow, and we're still seeking 1-2 players who would be interested in joining. If you're interested in joining a long-term, action-packed campaign with well-grounded rules and a competent DM, please contact me at your earliest convenience as we may be able to drop you in tomorrow.

It's been a good long awhile since I've had to use this post as I had a full party, but I am fortunate to offer one availability to someone who would like to join this game as someone had to leave. They left amicably, stating that their summer time is going to be taken up by other more pressing hobbies and activities with their daughter/s, we wish them all the best. The party are level 3, currently taking part in a Siege. This campaign is really starting to get exciting and spicy, so if you're interested please feel free to reach out. Thanks!
