(Please find the LFG posting here.) For five years, the faithful in the small coastal town of Sandpoint have attended church in temporary structures ever since a great fire destroyed the previous temple. Now the new cathedral is finally complete, and all that remains is for the town's priest to beseech the gods to bless the town once again at the Swallowtail Festival, and wash away the late unpleasantness. Four fresh new adventurers are here for the Festival's fun and games, the consecration of a major temple, or reasons of their own. But beneath the sleepy town of Sandpoint, an ancient terror stirs... Welcome to  Burnt Offerings , an introductory 1st- to 3rd-level adventure to the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path run by yours truly,  Nerth  the Dungeon Master! Here's what you need to know.  Please find a copy of the spoiler-free player's guide to the  Rise of the Runelords  Adventure Path here. Requirements & Rules Campaign:  This adventure should last eight to twelve sessions (two to three months), with the opportunity to play in a year-long campaign. Perfect for some summer fun, or to learn how to play Pathfinder 1st edition! Date:  Every Sunday at 4pm CST / 5pm EDT / 9pm GMT. Each session should last 3-4 hours. Tech Requirements:  Virtual tabletop and character sheets in Roll20, voice chat over mic in Discord. Characters:  For people new to Pathfinder 1st edition, I offer free help with the rules during character creation and play, so that you can learn as you go along. For more experienced players, you are creating a 1st-level character with the following rules: 20 point buy for ability scores. Access to all Pathfinder content, except monstrous or unusually powerful races, the omdura, and the vampire hunter. I have the PDFs and am always here to help. No evil alignments. A gentleman's agreement not to steal the spotlight off of other players, or ruin someone else's fun. Price:  $10 USD per session via Paypal.  (This game will require payment to the Game Master at this rate. Roll20 isn't responsible for any payment transactions and can't enforce any private arrangements.) What am I paying for? A homebrew campaign that is built around your character and their story as you play, realized immersively with custom tokens, HD art assets, and a character sheet in Roll20 that I'll update over the course of the campaign so when you sit down to play, you can just play! A more mature and committed group that will be here on time and prepared to play! My collection of roleplaying game knowledge, PDFs, and experience built over a decade with different editions of Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, which lends to a smooth and immersive session! Access to the benefits of my paid subscriptions, including Syrinscape for music and sound effects, Roll20 for no ads, and Inkarnate for unique homebrewed maps when prebuilt ones aren't enough! All this adds together to roughly one to two hours of preparation on my end for each hour of play. I'm happy to run games basically at cost for the subscriptions, which will help me continue to improve the gaming service I can provide. How do I register to play? I am looking for four to six players, although I'm happy to run games starting with three players. Please send me a private message or respond in the Listing Discussion below with the following: Your Name: Campaign Information:  Rise of the Runelords: Burnt Offerings; Sundays, 5pm EDT. Discord ID (Username#0000): Do you have any experience playing Pathfinder 1st edition?: What are you looking for in a session of a tabletop roleplaying game?: Do you understand that the game costs $10 USD per session via Paypal?: If you have a specific character concept in mind (such as a race, class, or even general concept), feel free to include it with your post. If not, that's also okay! I take applications as a first-come, first-served basis, with spots on a waiting list in case a player can't make it to the session.
We have our first adventurer! Up to four other seats remain. Come create your character, and claim yours today! There were some great questions asked in our LFG forum, so I'm also adding the answers here  Will there be maps or is it mostly theater of the mind. If there are maps are they hand drawn? There will be maps for all combat encounters drawn from official Paizo flip-mats and map tiles, and re-drawn by me on Inkarnate for maps that don't play nice with Roll20 because they're hand-drawn in the module. There will be images or town maps for roleplaying encounters in theatre-of-mind mode. Do you change the rules in any way? I prefer to GM up to a PFS standard of knowing the rules as written, but running them as intended. If I can't quickly find the answer to a rules question during play, I will make an on-the-spot ruling then check in with everyone after the session with a clarification. Apart from removing feat taxes and giving everyone maximum hit points per Hit Die, I don't change the player-facing rules in any way. I will change encounters, monsters, and loot to better suit the characters and the players at the table. What races and classes are banned? I ban the advanced, monstrous, or very powerful races from the d20pfsrd, and the omdura and vampire hunter classes. Otherwise, I prefer to talk to you about your expectations and set a gentleman's agreement about a power level. For example, a game with a sacred geometry wizard, an oradin, and a master summoner looks different from a game with three pregenerated characters. Generally I can roll with your punches. The further out there a character concept is, the more difficult it will be to get loot you're looking for (such as magical guns or Asian, that is to say Tian in Golarion, weapons). Do you use the elephant feat system? I've read through the Elephant in the Room removing feat taxes system, and I usually adapt it for my own games. More specifically, I'm not a fan of his changes to combat maneuver feats and Weapon Focus, and I want to be able to remove feat taxes for other feats (such as Bodyguard - In Harm's Way from the  Advanced Player's Guide ). You can expect the following: —Agile Maneuvers and Weapon Finesse are gone. Everyone has access to Dexterity to CMB and attack rolls. —Combat Expertise, Deadly Aim, and Power Attack are gone. Everyone has access to them as options in combat. —Any feat that has an "Improved" or "Greater" version is given to you as a bonus feat if you would meet its prerequisites (such as Improved Bull Rush and Greater Bull Rush, but also Dodge and Mobility). —Precise Shot no longer requires Point-Blank Shot as a prerequisite.
Bump! The original post and the LFG posting have been updated with better formatting. I hope to see you at my table soon!
