Introduction Thread

Now that Norrin isn't the only 5th level here, it's only going to get harder from here on out!

Preferably when we're all above level 6 or 7 :)
BTW Erasmus still has the Bead of Force he picked up ages ago - a nice area-effect attack if you need one! Shatter is a good Bard & Wizard AoE level 2 spell https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Shatter#content that might be worth upcasting to 3rd vs Orcs since 4d8 damage will likely kill them on a failed save - 3d8 might with a lucky roll. Hypnotic Pattern is probably the most powerful level 3 Bard spell but like Sleep it has the disadvantage that targets can be restored by shaking or damage. It's probably most effective vs small groups of tough foes like Ogres.
Of course if Erasmus & Syrus are using Stunning Strike & powerful spells they will get *even more* enemy attacks focused on them. :D

Hi Simon Everyone! Hope you are all having a good week. Just to let you know I won’t be joining session this Saturday - Syrus will take few more additional days out to make potions in addition to training to level up :) Have a fun session and hope to “see” y’all next week!
OK thanks Kenny.
crap there goes our 3rd level spells
You don't necessarily have to assault the main Orc lair this Saturday game, you could eg bring supplies from Dwarfstead or attack Thorfin's Mine. Your choice.
IMHO I think it would be better if everyone is present before tackling the big job. I won't be able to play this Saturday, but I will be for the next few Saturdays after that.
I agree. Not sure that attacking the mine first is a good tactical move, though. Not sure what the best course of action will be.
The dwarves are nearly out of rations so it would make sense to do a supply run - should likely also get Fraener enough XP to train for level up. :) You could also do aggressive patrolling looking to take out orc raider parties in the area.
Ah yes, supply run. Would you agree to retcon to before the rest to do that? I can undo my level up for the purposes of the session so we can get Fraener leveled up during the same period?
Tim M. said: Ah yes, supply run. Would you agree to retcon to before the rest to do that? I can undo my level up for the purposes of the session so we can get Fraener leveled up during the same period? I'm not retconning the LR, which PCs were very keen to get! I can say it's just 7 days & you've not levelled up yet if you want.
Great ideas! So how many extra days does Syrus get in addition to the leveling up for his absence until next Saturday’s game? (just thinking about creating more scrolls/spending time with Herbalists)
GM: Norrin Syrus & the dwarf supply convoy get back from Dwarfstead next day with lots of tasty delicious ham cheese fresh vegetables (marrows, turnips, cabbages) & other delights, as well as brewing supplies for Mistress Gundra. Dwarf morale is much improved and there is talk of taking the fight to the orcs' main lair at 'Glen Orcy'. Fraener can take 5 days to study with Mistress Gundra & level up, if you want to all take 7 days you can Long Rest too. The Orcs seem to have pulled back and are being more cautious now that Rockwood Hold has clearly been reinforced with capable allies.
Kenny H. said: Great ideas! So how many extra days does Syrus get in addition to the leveling up for his absence until next Saturday’s game? (just thinking about creating more scrolls/spending time with Herbalists) Looks like either 3 or 5.
Erasmus is happy to cut the rest short (he can use a hit die) in order to press the advantage, but is also conscious of his allies abilities, too.
Fraener is delighted to study under the gifted mistress Gundra. He gently enquires if there are others such as she who would perhaps consider a home Under the Mountain once Khundrakar is returned to its former glory? I think a seven day rest for each of us to recover our full abilities before we attack the Orcs in open battle would be wisest. For the sake of one day we will all be better able to contribute. After the training with Gundra, Fraener will be 4th level. He takes +1 to Str & Con.
Chris T. said: Fraener is delighted to study under the gifted mistress Gundra. He might be able to recruit colonists there. There's another brew priest of Berronar at Dwarfstead, and several forge priests of Moradin here and there, including one at Rockwood Hall and another at Torgrim's Hold. She has no idea if any would be interested in joining Fraener.
Hiya. I'm probably going to be a bit late tomorrow as we're doing our Easter lunch a day early. As much as I love you guys, I'm not missing out on the one roast lamb dinner I get every year! ;p Should be there by 5:30ish.
Excited to re-join game tonight! :)
Running a bit late so will start at 5.30pm tonight
Rumours M10 1359 DR 1. Dust Goblins from Feycircle Tor have been stealing livestock from Spurs' Edge. 2. Raiding giants and orcs have made the Moonfog Hills a dangerous place. Many farms around Malthlyn have been abandoned. 3. Prospectors in Hiddenglen report that the wizard's tower known as Raganni's Redoubt appears abandoned. 4. The Priests of Talos at Stormcaller Tor have been sending fierce autumn storms across central Arcata.
Re XP for the battle, I'm dividing it into 10 shares, with PCs getting 1 each and the remainder to the dwarves. If you are successful and defeat the orcs you get full XP (1440 looks like); if you lose & survive probably a half share (770). This would let Strohm & Qiviel train for 5th; Ted train for 4th.

Pretty sure we don't got nowhere to run now. Looks pretty last stand to me, whether that be up here, or downstairs. Eeek!

Can you imagine the smell?

Some say their leaders are in fact dragons!

FYI, I won't be able to play on Saturday Apr 24. Stupid work schedule, but I'll be back on Saturday May 1. Hopefully we vanquish the orcish scourge by then!
Hail Adventurers, I wont be joining you this evening (family business), I wish you well. Good luck!
Thanks Geoff & Matt. See most of you at 5pm BST!

GM: As noted in game, Flint rewards each PC (including Ted) & Jyrdani with a large stack of silver ingots weighing 25 lb - 250gp worth of silver each. While you are resting patrolling and training the dwarven smiths are happy to craft you weapons and armour; they can make you Mithral armour https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/mithral-armor at very reasonable rates, and silvered weapons at only +50gp rather than the usual +100gp https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Weapons#content Mithral armour from the dwarves costs standard market price +130gp for chain shirt or scale (180gp), +200gp for breastplate (600gp), +250gp for half plate (1000gp) or chainmail (325gp), +400gp for splint (600gp), +500gp for full plate (2000gp).

Simon how much was for the new farm house in the abandoned farm?
WhiteValyrian said: Simon how much was for the new farm house in the abandoned farm? I think it was 400gp total to get it patched up and lavishly appointed.
OOC: PCs (& Jyrdani) levelling up, rem to deduct 20gp for training expenses. That's Strohm Qiviel Jyrdani & Ted. Costs and training time will increase for level 5 PCs training to level 6, but I think that's a ways off even for Norrin. :)
damn just enough leftover for the training
WhiteValyrian said: damn just enough leftover for the training Well I don't think you need a silver weapon that much - you have a magic sword and firebolt. :)
