I'm the GM of an upcoming SWN capaign that's played on Saturdays 6PM GMT. We are short a couple of players, so we'd like to have people come. It'a a space adventure with spaceships (of course), good sci-fi, political tension, danger, laughter and everything that makes sci-fi good. Here's the setting abstract: "The year is 3354. But that calendar is not used anymore. The Covenant Pact calendar is used, so it’s the year 5612 a.C.P. (after Covenant Pact). The Covenant Pact is fragile alliance established under the Kelk tutelage to stop the war between the Drrr and the Amlem while mankind still thought the Earth was flat. The three races already had a high level of technology back then, and the Pact equated them in prowess. It’s an equilibrium of forces that allows for the little corner of the galaxy to go on. The Covenant Pact territory engulfs 10.000 star systems, in a sphere around the Kelk homeworld, a star known to us as LP-849 back when the first contact happened. In 2035, the first manned mission to use an Alcubierre Device found themselves in front of a huge Kelk ship. The fourth race had arrived. Afraid of this imbalance, the Kelk nourished Earth’s technology to a point where humans could stand toe-to-toe with the other two races. Technology stagnated rapidly, and Earth’s expansion allowed for humanity to colonize a hundred systems before it was formally introduced into the Covenant. Newcomers, seen as the Kelk’s pets, were not trusted at first, but they eventually earned the right to be regarded as a spacefaring race. However, some certain hostility with the Amlem still remains. The four races of the Pact are: Humans. What to say? The only change with humans has been the increase in psion activity. Now one of every thousand humans is a psychic. Homeworld: Earth. Kelk. The tutors of mankind, these strange methane-breathing aliens that glow in the dark are thin and move fast. They fostered humanity and lost some face in front of the other races for it. They are the closest race to humans, ironic, if we consider they are methane breathers. Their society is organized in two main blocks of power: The Herain, the ones who uplifted humanity; and the Nerain, a reclusive organization that rarely intervenes with the Pact races. Homeworld: Daran Amlem. These oxygen breathers didn’t like mankind entering the Pact, but they gave up on war with the Kelk over it. They are furry, with short legs and four long arms with double joints, they end in tridigital hands. Their eyes are all black and the size of tennis balls, their head a bit bigger than a human’s, about 1,90m high. They are strong, but not very fast. However, they are intelligent, very intelligent. They also have razor sharp teeth and retractable claws. Their faces don’t have any hair, and their skin is of a similar color to that of a white human. They are organized in clans. There are thousands of clans, but five of them are the ones to watch: K’resh, Ogner, Lahum, Teryon and Sylmen. They are quite warlike and prone to fights, but they don’t dare to face the other races of the Pact in a full out war. Homeworld: Ne’dek Drrr. These are odd methane breathers. Think of them as big fur balls with seven legs that can also be arms. They have eyes, somewhere, but they’d best be described as sentient sea urchins. They are random and very numerous (a small ship can hold 100 or more). And they are VERY clever. They are the size of a big dog, and are not very strong, though. Their society is very complex, and all attempts to calsify the groups have failed. Homeworld: (Unpronouceable) All the races have different languages, but a functioning translator was built by the Kelk. It is not perfect, and it’s more or less effective depending on what language it translates to what other language. Humans understand Kelk, but their phrasing is odd; Amlem are very succinct, and can’t be read from what they say; Drrr just don’t make sense to humans. This translator is a microchip that is implanted close to the corpus callosum in humans, so they always “wear” it. Humans are regarded as newcomers and not to b trusted. Especially thanks to early Amlem propaganda. Kelk treat humans as a big brother would treat a little brother, and the Drrr… They’re just Drrr. Space travel is made in large, multi-crewed ships. Personal ships do exist, but they are VERY expensive. The main reason to travel the stars is commerce, either with the goods you legally bought and paid for, or with the goods another legally bought and paid for. The later usually are prosecuted. Space exploration is at a minimum, but the Pact’s government has decided to push for the mapping of the spiral arm the Pact is in, so hundreds of captains “sail” towards the edges of known territory. Meanwhile, those less attached to the law have found plenty of bounty in the systems at the inner arm. What awaits the adventurers that venture froth into the unknown? What will be of those in less than secure space? The first worlds claiming for independence from the Pact have already raised their voices. How long until they are silenced either by force or reason is yet to be seen." If you want to join, don't hesitate on PMing me or adding me on skype, I'm straussfeller over there. Come join us!
Sounds interesting. Shame I am not available otherwise I would have given it a shot. :(
As a science fiction nut, I would be very interested to give this a shot! From what i can read in a few minutes, this seems very d20'ish. I got extensive experience with d&d 3, 3.5 and PF if that is at all applicable.
Why must all the interesting games be on Saturday evenings? If it wasn't for the fact I have another game at that time I would definitely be joining.
im very interested and would love to join you guys
Sci-fi! I'd like to join.

I'm sad to tell you all we're full. But I'll keep your nemaes logged in case we go missing someone :) BTW, first session was a blast! :D If there is enough interest in this setting, I can post the documentation I have with the house rules and such (i.e.: robots, drones, weapons...). And if there's MUCH interest, I can carry another game any day of the week after 18:00PM GMT, but that one would have to be bi-monthly. I have my limits! xD
Pablo, if you'd keep me in the loop when you might need an alternate, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Sounds great, would like to give it a shot.
