Ch. 65: The Adventurers Return to Falcon's Lodge Then Head Back to Phadalin

Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Folks!   Sirus: Hey there.   Buddy D.: whats up yall?   Feralda: Pretty much. The actual background was just a simple "She's a wizard after knowledge and magical power, who favored fire spells", but I joke about making her a Don't Starve reference on top of her name being a Skyrim reference.   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing much happening here, Buddy!   Sirus: GM, in case you missed the private message, I think it might be necessary to retire Rolo the next time we arrive back at a town.   Dungeon Master (GM): Dan said he would be in today   Sirus: Alright.   Feralda: But Rolo was the other wizard.   Sirus: yes   Roqar: Dont know either of those references hehe just know the early Stephen King novel and movie   Buddy D.: me too roqar   Sirus: Okay, so We are going to inform whoever it is about wrapping up those Anchorites   Feralda: Feralda is a wizard in Skyrim who specializes in destruction magic. Willow is a somewhat crazy pyromaniac in Don't Starve. Ironically she's one of the easiest characters to keep sane, because she restores sanity through fires, but she has lower max sanity than other characters. The title is Don't Starve, but there's a sanity meter too.   Sirus: lol now might not be the time to lecture the others about the finer points of those games Chad   Roqar: The Druid knows already hes with us   Sirus: Right, but presumably there is some sort of reward to get from doing all of that.   Feralda: We must return to camp, for our accolades.   Sirus: Seeing as how the Circle of Thunder itself was kind of a wet fart For loot :p   Feralda: She says accolades because she's fancy.   Roqar: Thats in Phandalin the Mayor whos Paranoid about dragons   Sirus: Ah? Okay, that's where that quest came from then. Will wait for prompting from GM then   Roqar: Checking out the fortress   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, well here is the lodge, anything to say to Falcon??? I need to check on if anyone gives you a reward for clearing out the circle of thunder   Feralda: It's a good thing we went to the north to clear out the rest of the enemies. They definitely had a large enough force to retake the lodge.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "That's a few less Talos worshipping troglodytes. Shouldn't cause any more trouble now."   Feralda: We tell him the good news, and that they shouldn't get attacked again.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Falcon, You have your lodge back, now you can fix it up and we can come by for a visit bnow and then"   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Maybe fortify it when you have the time too."   Falcon the Hunter Says: "Well, that is certainly good to hear. Reidoth can inform Neverwinter on his way back so that my business can return here."   Says: "Yes, I will definitely hire more guards to watch over the place."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Sure. Would love to stick around, but....I think we've still got more business to tend to. I'm sure we'll see each other again sometime, though."   Falcon the Hunter Says: "You all are welcome to stop by anytime! I really appreciate your help!"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Pulls out a scrap of parchment " We have two dragons, a fallen paladin and a couple bad guys to take care of still"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hey. No problem."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, I checked and you already got done the quest that Falcon gave you, which was the woodland manse and he gave you the boots of elvenkind.   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Oh my. That's going to be interesting."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Actually...before we go....we might want to try and see if we can find some food for the trip."   Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Daniel!   Sirus: ah there he is   ROLO: morning this wouldntlet me log in sorry hi sorry for lateness   Buddy D.: do push ups j/k   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Actually. Yeah, that's a good point. Falcon, you don't mind if we do a little hunting around the place, do you?"   Dungeon Master (GM): I'd go grab out one of those orange push-ups out of the freezer! ;p   Falcon the Hunter Says: "Heck no, go right ahead if you need your bellies filled!"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Thanks a bunch, man. Appreciate it."   Falcon the Hunter Says: "You're welcome!"   Sirus: Ok so at this point, I would say we could try a bit of hunting to dry some food into rations, and then head for Phandalin?
Feralda: I can imagine Feralda using her familiar to scout for game, and taking it down with her bow.   Dungeon Master (GM): I would suggest getting to Havenfall manor before phandalin   Sirus: Isn't that place really cold?   Dungeon Master (GM): I can roll to see if Falcon has some extra furs to loan you   Sirus: If not, then we are gonna need to buy some winter clothes first. Not a fan of freezing   Roqar: Its dam cold but we can just search around outside instead for a grave his weapons a dragon body   ROLO: if not we can carve up the largeboar   Dungeon Master (GM): 50/50 chance   Sirus: the large boar is fake   Dungeon Master (GM): 84   Sirus: It vanished into thin air   Dungeon Master (GM): no furs to loan you guys   ROLO: dam   Sirus: Mhm. Yeah, Marcy prefers to be prepared   Feralda: We hunt for furs.   Buddy D.: juan hates the cold   Sirus: ...Is that something that'd be possible, GM?   Dungeon Master (GM): if you do that you have to dry, prep and stretch it!   Sirus: Well, let's do the hunting first   Feralda: I mean, there are bears in these woods, right?   Sirus: See what happens.   Dungeon Master (GM): It's possible but would take time   Sirus: we have time. Maybe if the survival check is really good?   ROLO: no blankets tents in here   Feralda: The guys at the lodge would know how to turn bear hide into sclothes.   Dungeon Master (GM): I would say a month   Feralda: Oof.   Sirus: ...Yeah okay, so that's not happening   Feralda: Didn't think it would take a month.   Sirus: We have to buy winter clothes The end   Buddy D.: true   Sirus: But hunting time. I imagine it's a survival check?   Dungeon Master (GM): I'm just giving a general feel for how long, we can look up about tanning hides of course   Feralda: Yes, survival.   Roqar: Or just Dont go inside :P   Sirus: GM There's no official rule But Leatherworker's Tools & proficiency might be needed.   Dungeon Master (GM): Buddy, you hunted have you ever tanned hides or do you just take it to the butcher shop?   Sirus: In order to do it yourself   Buddy D.: i tan hides   ROLO: do the orcs have hide clothing   Buddy D.: takes a long time   ROLO: the ones that were not hit by fireball   Feralda: Lol   Sirus: kek   Dungeon Master (GM): yes they would be wearing hides under/over their armor especially these ones in the woods   Sirus: Would they fit tho That's ever so slightly a bit of a stretch   ROLO: i suggest we use them to better things happen   Roqar: But they smell!! Like Orc   Dungeon Master (GM): the Orcs here have been cooked to a crisp so no clothing from them now   Sirus: Ok, so that idea goes in the bin   ROLO: better than freezing   Sirus: Nope. We burned the bodies after the fight remember So that idea goes in the bin too Hunting now   ROLO: k soorry missed thatlol   Sirus: iirc Survival is governed by Wisdom, so let's see who has the best Wisdom...   Feralda: You mean there are negative consequences to just setting everything on fire? :(   ROLO: 12   Sirus: Farren Farren has a +7 to Survival   Roqar: Like I said earlier We can avoid freezing by not going inside wont find anything inside anyways :P   Feralda: 12 wis, but no survival prof.   Buddy D.: 15   Sirus: Farren has highest.   Feralda: Why is it so cold inside?   Sirus: +7 with proficiency Ghosts, probably So we can have Farren do the check. Maybe with advantage, GM?
Roqar: Its haunted   Dungeon Master (GM): magics from the paladin's curse is a likely cause what exactly are you checking? that he can survive the cold without disadvantage?   Sirus: no Nobody listening lol Want to do some hunting to get rations for the party.   Roqar: Hunting   Sirus: Actually Shit wait   Feralda: We're trying to hunt for food.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Sirus: Juan has Create Food and Water right?   Buddy D.: yes   Sirus: lol I keep forgetting that   Dungeon Master (GM): yea and that feeds a ridiculous 15 people!   Feralda: That's not the fun way, though.   Sirus: Then again yeah If we got some good quality pelt, that might be worth selling ....Eh. Idk what do you guys think   ROLO: np   Buddy D.: Crusader's Mantle Evocation 3 Casting Time:  1 action Range:  Self Target:  Self Components:  V Duration:  Concentration Up to 1 minute Holy power radiates from you in an aura with a 30-foot radius, awakening boldness in friendly creatures. Until the spell ends, the aura moves with you, centered on you. While in the aura, each nonhostile creature in the aura (including you) deals an extra 1d4 radiant damage when it hits with a weapon attack. SPELL SAVE DC : 13 SPELL SLOT LEVEL 31 OF 2 REMAINING   Sirus: ?   ROLO: i can help if needed for hunting   Roqar: kip it "juan, Conjure up some food, please"   Feralda: Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Magic solves all problems, including the need to eat and drink."   Sirus: Eh. yeah maybe we'll go for it anyways, save Juan some magic.   Dungeon Master (GM): how are you hunting? snare traps? bow and arrow?   Sirus: Actually, I don't see that spell in Juan's sheet   ROLO: brb bathroom break   Sirus: bow and arrow. Farren has a bow.   Dungeon Master (GM): He can still pray for the spell and we can then add it to the sheet   Sirus: Alrighty. And as far as the manor is concerned I don't see much point in going to the manor to just dick around outside Especially since none of us have a shovel, I don't think.   Feralda: Someone whould be able to prepare mold earth spell.   Roqar: We need shovels but ending the curse is a good for points in good deeds   Sirus: We don't have mold earth.   Feralda: I can prepare it for a day if we need to dig.   Sirus: we are better served going to Phandalin, talking to the mayor about the anchorites, getting winter clothes and some shovels and then going for the manor I would argue.   ROLO: back   Buddy D.: good idea sirus   Sirus: Egh no, that's going out of your way for a very specific thing. You'd have to basically unprepare it right after Best to just go to town and get some shovels. GM, the map? I think we are about ready to head out if there is nothing else   Dungeon Master (GM): ok then someone can draw a line to indicate where you travel   Sirus: on it. like so   Dungeon Master (GM): about a 58 mile trip, roughly 3 days   Sirus: Yeah. Thankfully we have based cleric to handle our food and drink needs. We all in agreement?   Feralda: Feralda would be just fine with that.   Roqar: Yes BRB need more water   Buddy D.: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): wandering monster checks: 1st day:  5   1   1   3 ok, about  3 8 miles out and  3   ROLO: did we get long rest in?   Sirus: Think so   Dungeon Master (GM): 13 miles out we have encounters and yes long rest   ROLO: ty   Sirus: Aight. Wolf is bitter, wolf is possibly rabid   Roqar: Walking fur coat   Sirus: I guess that means we are bullying the wolf   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Marcy, go bonk it on the head, please."   Dungeon Master (GM): it's there snarling at you, looking like it's going to attack   ROLO: wolfs useally in packs   Dungeon Master (GM): Yea but I rolled a 1!   Feralda: Yeah, it was probably a 1d4 roll, and he rolled a 1.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Not always. Honestly, Feralda, if you're gonna be ordering me around, why don't you show me how it's done?"   Sirus: init?   Dungeon Master (GM): yea let's init so we do this in an orderly fashion   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "I supervise. Roll a hit dice or two.   Dungeon Master (GM): 3 wandering checks on the way there   Buddy D.: 7 HIT DICE  (D8+ 3 ) Juan Denero 5 HIT DICE  (D8+ 3 ) Juan Denero

But closer in, something is strewn across the rocky ground ninety feet ahead. “Well, ain’t that something,” says Don-Jon, pointing at what appear to be six dead orcs. They are clad in hide armor, and their greataxes and javelins litter the ground around them.    Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Looks like something else hates orcs encroaching, too."   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Doesn't everyone? Even other Orcs."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "True."   ROLO: how did they die look   Feralda: I can investigate   Dungeon Master (GM): i need a wisdom or medicine check   Roqar: (Waiting for Don Jon to make some Gumbo)   Farren Nidanas: 9 MEDICINE  (7) Farren Nidanas   Sirus: ....You gotta be kidding.   Dungeon Master (GM): along the way here Don-Jon, talked tales of his exploits   Sirus: roll is a fucking TWO.   Feralda: We need to end the sessions before all these low rolls get us in trouble. :P   Dungeon Master (GM): ok well Farren is not sure how they died   Avery: 4 | 18 MEDICINE  (2) Avery   Dungeon Master (GM): same for Avery   Feralda: O.O   Marcuria Violezi: 10 | 20 MEDICINE  (0) Marcuria Violezi   ROLO: are they burnt oR stabbed   Sirus: ahahaha If I had advantage... ach   Dungeon Master (GM): that are not burnt like Juan was and there is no blood Marcuria can't tell either   Feralda: If you had advantage, you'd know how they were killed, what killed them, and where their killers sent.   Dia Xiloscient: 12 | 18 WISDOM  (0) Dia Xiloscient   Feralda: went   Dungeon Master (GM): Dia, thinks she figures it out!   Sirus: Why does the character with +0 wisdom figure it out, these hecking dice....   Roqar: 6 | 18 WISDOM  (-1) Roqar   Sirus: thrrrrp   Dungeon Master (GM): Looking at the skin upon some of the dead orcs where it hasn't decayed yet reveals what looks to be extreme frostbite.   Roqar: Their dead   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Frostbitten?...."   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Some casters do use cold damage."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Does sound like frost magic. It's too nice out here for it to be winter weather."   Sirus: Anything in the area?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "White dragons do also, right?"   Sirus: Anything else I mean   Don-Jon Raskin Says: "Looks like a white dragon saved us from some trouble."   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Yes, the sword Coast is temperate, until you get much farther north."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "....Yeah. Right....the dragon.....better be careful, then."   ROLO: i think a dragon would have eaten them   Dungeon Master (GM): [or go up on the mountains]   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Not necessarily. Maybe the orcs attacked it."   Dungeon Master (GM): [maybe already has and doesn't care for the taste! ;p]   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Then again, would you want the taste of an orc on your tongue?..."
Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "Not exactly something you'd want to eat."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "I'd rather eat stirge excretions, myself."   Dungeon Master (GM): eww   Feralda the Elf Wizard Says: "TMI"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Mumbles  "Or Half Orc"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Let's stop here and I start with your Arrival post next session when we get to Mountain's Toe.   Sirus: agreed.   ROLO: anything of value on them   Sirus: Good session.   Feralda: Ok.
