Having recently returned from the Ettinheights, Nadia brings news of a second circle of Standing Stones which can potentially be used with the Harrowmere Standing Stones to instantly teleport between the two regions.  They are advertising for adventurers skilled in: 1.Arcana (to unlock the stones, we'll only get one chance to roll for this otherwise we'll have to travel North through the swamp).  2. Navigation (to minimise getting lost and improve mapping accuracy). 3. Any other skills that may help with exploration (ie Mists of Akuma). If enough new locations are discovered we are expecting a good accrument of XP along with anything we may defeat during random encounters. Depending on how many encounters we get, we may be in the winderness for quite some time so please remember to bring adequate supplies.   Requirements:  Recommended level 4+, mounts required. Please note your Passive Perception and Survival (y/n for proficiency), proposed combat role and proposed exploration role (incl proficiency). I'm going to try and create a balanced party so please consider this when you apply.  In-Game Start Date:   21 Marpenoth Current Ettinheights Map:

POTENTIAL DATE CHANGE TO MAY 6th, Noon Georgia Time A booking slot for Thursday May 6th (formerly Sunken Tower III) has opened up. If there's enough interest I'd love to move this quest to that date.  If people are interested in playing this on May 6th, I can move the in-game date to Marpenoth 11 (Ayla's happy to move the in-game date for Raiders of the Harrowmere so people can do it after getting back from this quest).  Keeping game on May 27th, in-game Marpenoth 21st
Bronson Lvl 5 goliath way of mercy Monk would go.  Particularly to find the other monastery and continue Nadia's martial Arts training.

If the in game date is moved to 21 Marpenoth I can send Aerfrey Wood Elf level 4 Circle of Moon Druid. PP21/survival +6 with advantage due to Nature sense talent. Her mount is a riding horse called Cabbages. Otherwise she'll have to bow out

All good, so what I'll do is keep it on May 27th and change the in-game date from Marpenoth18th Marpenoth to 21st, that way Aerfrey will be able to come with us.

No need to wait till 21st unless you were on different quest afterwards or have your own reason

With the date being moved and not breaking the rules of time and space again the self proclaimed town physician Vesrot would be interested in this! Surprisingly useful when not knocked unconscious! If still needed I will post my stats.

I slot you in. We have two healers now so hopefully Aoibhinn and Nadia can get away with some constitution-tanking!

Patrol Report Party composition:  Aoibhinn, Nadia, Bronson, Aerfrey, Reza, Vesrot Mission: A) Explore the Ettinheights for interesting locations B) (Secondary) Attempt to access Ettinheights via the Harrowmere Standing Stones Route Taken:  Hope - Harrowmere Standing Stones - Ettinheights Standing Stones Areas of Interest: Harrowmere & Ettinheight Standing Stones, Large ruined city NE of Ettinheight stones (Tsar?), Desolated landscape S of ruined city (acid rain storms, shelter advised), Burning Hand Monastery NNW of Ettinheight Standing Stones Enemy Contacts:   1 Greater Cockatrice 12miles NW of Hope  - eliminated **Burning Tiger Monks (Friendly contact established, but may become antagonistic. Caution advised) Enemy Notes:   Greater cockatrice can induce petrification if gazed upon at a distance of 50+ feet (minimum safe distance not determined). Can deliver very strong poison with venomous tail attack. Casualties:  Aoibhinn - KIA Bronson - Petrified Cabbages (Aerfreys Mount) - KIA Mission Outcome:   A) Success B) Success  Recommendations:  Unable to peacefully leave Burning Tiger Monastery until trials have been completed. Recommend completing trials and then re-assessing diplomatic relations with the Monastery.  When allowed to leave Monastery, recommend continued exploration of the Ettinheights. Personel Reflection:   Our second attempt at activating the Standing Stones and this time, with Reza's expertise, we were successful. By 'dialing in' with the symbols we had taken from the Ettinheight site  (sketches of these symbols are available at the Stuck Pig)   we were able to instantaneously transport ourselves to those stones. I stongly suspect there are other Standing Stones with different symbol addresses scattered throughout the frontier.  Using the stones did come with some side effects. I was left with numb hands for the remainder of the patrol, Reza sobbed uncontrollably for an hour and most shockingly of all, Aerfrey aged by about 50 years. Luckily she is an Elf, but I would strongly urge Humans and other short-lived creatures to reconsider travelling through the stones unless absolutely necessary. During the battle with the Greater Cockatrice we lost Bronson and Aoibhinn . Aoibhinn was mauled to death but Bronson was petrified so we have kept his stone body with us to eventually return to Hope. When I get back I intend to go on a Basilisk hunt.  We encountered two other travellers near the Monastery - Azymeth and Frugal . I haven't had much time to get to know them yet but they seem to display similar concerns about the temperament of the Burning Tigers. Right now I definitely trust them more than the monks...
Paid

Reza’s Log: 21 Marpenoth - Morning I, Reza Macintosh, am joined by Nadia The Ranger, Bronson the Monk, Aefrey the Druid, Vesrot the Sorcerer, and Aoibhinn the Hunter of Monster. It’s a chilly day outside so I’m sure Bronson is gonna be in a good mood. I’m not a fan of the cold. We set off today to find the Standing Stones where I’m expected to make work. Hopefully it won’t be too hard. Also along for good vibes. 22 Marpenoth - Morning   We had an encounter with a Greater Cockatrice yesterday. We lost Bronson to its petrifying gaze. Not good but at least we can’t bring him back from that. Aoibhinn wasn’t so lucky. She was partially consumed before I killed the Cockatrice with a Moon-strike. We mounted Bronson to Vesrot's elephant and set off. It was a quiet night at camp. 22 Marpenoth - Night I successfully used the Standing Stones to teleport the group to the Ettinheights. It wasn’t hard as I thought it would be. After we came through, Nadia ’s hands were numb and Aerfrey aged a bit. Nothing happened to me though. If anyone is saying I was effected then they’re slandering me. Exercise caution adventurers. 23 Marpenoth - Night We meet two strangers on our travels today. A Shadar-Kai named Azymeth as well as a Grung named Frougal . They looked like they could kick some serious gluteus maximus so they tagged along with our party. We also found a monastery called the Burning Tiger Monastery. The tradition there is very power hungry and aggressive. The monks are almost like bullies. Except Brother Flip. If you ask him to do a back flip for you, he’ll happily do one for you so he’s cool. Some info I gathered told me that this Monastery wasn’t always like this. Some of the older monks had came in and did a hostile takeover of the place. They also instated the Way of the Burning Tiger. If you’re looking at this monastic tradition, I advise that you think twice. Nadia, Azymeth, and decided to face the trials and almost got burned alive. Disclamer: Dates may not line up with events. If that is the case please let me know so that I may current it.
