About the campaign If you are looking for a more relaxed high fantasy setting with a nicely balanced mixture of darker and more wondrous elements then look no further! Welcome to the world of Eldavenn. With its own custom pantheon of gods, history, cultures and world mechanics, Eldavenn is an ambitious project that is open to new players or the more experienced. Dive in to a world of mysteries and wonder where you can become the heroes you always wanted to be. The current way campaigns seem to be trending leaves a lot of room for the classics, the tropes that once opened our eyes to fantasy from the works of Tolkien or C. S. Lewis. This campaign attempts to recapture that feeling of opening up Lord of the Rings for the first time and immersing yourself in its pages. Trouble brews in Eldavenn's heartlands, a shadowy regime claims the sprawling city of Ceres and the heroes of the past failed to stop the coming darkness. It now lies to you as simple folk first setting out for adventure to resist the umbral claws reaching across your homeland to plunge it into turmoil. Now I know what you must be thinking, do I commit to something like this? How do I know this game will be right for me? Well my friends worry not, I will be running a $5 per player one shot before the campaign begins so you can test the waters before getting into the campaign proper, just to see if you find my GMing style fun and engaging. I am hoping for 5 players if possible but will start with 4. Who am I? A little info about myself, My name is Mike, I've been a GM for 12 years now running various editions of D&D starting all the way back in second edition. I was one of the top rated GMs on Zerosession getting consistent 5 stars and even running learning sessions for corporate events. I've wanted to make a career out of running D&D games for some time and here, on roll20 I make my start. Requirements for joining: A decent microphone (doesn't have to be studio quality just no echo and no headache inducing peaking or static). Voice chat will be over discord. No webcam is required this will be audio only. The price to be paid up front before session starts. You don't need to own the books, I have a good majority of them and I can turn on compendium sharing. No homebrew or unearthed arcana can be used without my prior approval, all decisions on this are final. The days and time available (all times shown are in UK time): Monday, all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, game ends before 7:00 PM or starts after midnight Thursday, game ends before 7:00 PM or starts after midnight Friday, all day Saturday, game ends before 6:00 PM or starts after 11:00 PM Sunday, Game ends before 7:00 PM or starts after midnight I am pretty flexible in my sleep schedule so as long as it fits within these times I should be able to make it work. If you need any more information please feel free to ask questions below or via PM, if you wish to apply for this game please post on the game's listing here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/290228/eldavenn-rise-of-ash using the template given. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope to see you in game. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $5 per player via paypal for the one shot and $15 per player for the main game to be paid via paypal on a weekly basis . Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
I've played with Mike before, he's a great GM. Highly recommended for people who want a witty and engaging GM who runs tight games with great plots to follow and gradually building challenges to tackle. All in all, he runs amazing games.
I am a active player of Mike, and he is actively the best gm I played with. After the years of dnd with several other people being the gm mike is still my favorite gm. He puts so much hard work into his games that it amazes me. And he also did it all for free, so seeing how he is trying to do paid games im excited to see what he does. My favorite qualities with him is that he is reasonable and adaptable. He will actively help players if they ask for help with story or backstory. He helped me make a background for a character and it really changed how role playing worked for my character, it really helped. In conclusion I think he has alot of great qualities, role playing, story, world building, and has a very good control over ambience and setting. And he is always trying to improve, always making it easier for all players involved. 5/5 would recommend to any tabletop.
I am a current player in one of Mike's campaigns, and am loving his GM style. He's never made me, a relatively new player, feel bad about asking questions or voicing concerns. He always, always makes time to answer questions that I, or any player has no matter how silly or small they might seem in and out of the game time. If I have a concern, he takes the time to address it, and resolve it. If I have a request or suggestion, he takes it into consideration and doesn't just shoot it down. He has helped me build several characters, even ones I haven't had the chance to play but simply wanted to see how they would work. He's witty, clever, and has quite a sense of humor, but on that same token he's never put me down or made me the butt of a joke. He always laughs with you, never at you. His worlds are always well thought out, even down to what a shop keepers daily schedule might be. They aren't static NPCs that only live when the Party interacts with them. This is true even when using a pre written module. Speaking of modules, he always adds his own flair and details to what is presented making them feel even more alive. He always makes me feel welcome at his (virtual) table. I look forward to weekly sessions. I am lucky to have Mike as my GM, and can not recommend him enough. 10/10
Fantastic DM that invited me as a stranger to a preexisting game and was welcomed immediately. every weeks is fun and engaging with lore rich worlds and elaborate plots with epic battles
