We are an established group of 5 (GM + 4 players) starting up a new, long-term game of Vampire: The Masquerade (20th anniversary edition). We have been roleplaying together online for many years. We have mostly played D&D and Pathfinder, and our last Pathfinder campaign ran continuously 2008-2020 (yes, 12 years), during the course of which, some of us got married, moved countries, had children, and evolved characters from level 1 to level 19. Somewhere along the way we got kinda old, too; our ages range from late 30s through late 40s. Our games are conducted online via a combination of: Roll20 sessions weekly on Friday or Saturday evenings (CST); and Play-by-post on a private hosted PhPBB forum between sessions. While there is plenty of action, we place a heavy emphasis on roleplaying and character development/evolution - certainly much more of the latter than we have encountered in the vast majority of D&D/Pathfinder campaigns. With this being an online game, the emphasis on story means it is important that any potential player is comfortable writing descriptively; you don’t need to be Anne Rice, but you do need to enjoy describing your character’s actions, thoughts, appearance, etc, via the written word. (This includes the correct use of punctuation and capitalization.) While we’re very serious about building our collaborative story, we also have a lot of fun, enjoy OOC banter, and laugh a lot. Our GM is pretty brilliant and really knows how to tell/guide a story. I’m not the GM, but I am his spouse; if anything, I figure that makes me even more critical of his methods. ;) Player requirements: Focused on character development & roleplaying Able to coherently and descriptively portray your character in writing Friendly, with a good sense of humor No rules lawyers allowed; for balance, we try hard to get the rules “right” (which will take some work for all of us initially in this campaign, as we re-acclimate ourselves to WoD, which has many gray areas), but excessive arguing with the GM won’t fly and should never derail a gaming session. Compatible with session times noted above Typically has the time & energy to post on the Roleplay forum several times a week As mentioned, while we have long played together, this is a brand new campaign, so it's a great chance to bring in someone new. Some of us played VtM many years ago, while others are completely new to the system; there will definitely be a learning curve. The setting will initially be Chicago in 1920 - think prohibition and gangsters - but of course, vampires live a long time, so both location and era are expected to shift over time, especially if this story is as long lived as our last one.
