Hi, I'm Robert, and I've been playing D&D it seems forever. I'm an old school DM who pretty much does it all. I have a background as a History major in college (the ancients and middle ages were my focus), and a background in Theater as well in High school, College, and beyond. So I've acted in plays, as well as run other positions both in the front of and back of the house. I've learned in DM'ing to do several accents, have several "characters" and love to roleplay, but also like the dynamics of fast combat. But my bread and butter is character development and how the characters affect the world they are in and the things that are going on around them. I've run several campaigns in the course of my time as a DM, through several versions of D&D, Pathfinder, and other games. I'm currently playing 5E and looking to start a campaign with players who are new to me, using Roll 20 and a discord server I have set up for voice. I also do many of my own maps using CC3+ ( see https://www.pinterest.com/arillion1/arillions-cc3-maps/ for examples). I even write some of the adventures. About the campaign: It's a 5E campaign using the Harn system (from Columbia Games) for geography and added flavor as well as map ideas, etc. Harn is a fantasy setting that is loosely built between the Dark Ages and Early middle ages England, with of course monsters and other things thrown in. It can be very complex (the most complex setting I've ever seen, and so getting a grasp of it will be a learning curve for the player. I envision the campaign running somewhere between 1.5-2 years in weekly sessions, so if you're looking for an epic, detailed, character-driven role playing oriented with court intrigue and very good plots and campaign ideas, then this may be what you've been looking for. It's too complex to go into here, but I've created a website that gives general information that is short but concise for those who might be interested, and a more detailed website for those who end up playing..... ( https://onry.tripod.com/Background.htm ). I live in CST and am looking for a game Saturday afternoon or evenings, such as 1pm to 5:30-6 pm or 6pm to 10:30-11pm CST. If you are interested, as a player, you would be mature (being something that is not chronological but rather behavioral), able to enjoy levity but be serious when it's called for, not given to extreme silliness. You would be stable, not showing up drunk or otherwise too tired or too whatever to play. You would also not easily be distracted by phone or other online pursuits during game time, and would pay attention and be ready to act when needed. You would understand that low fantasy is more gritty and rewarding than high fantasy because you can get more out of it by spending time taking notes and learning the system and campaign and being an active part in the world around you, first being shaped by events and those higher ups than you, and growing in power and social class to the point of being the shaper. You'd work well in groups, especially when you might not personally know the other players. You be a part of the fun too. You wouldn't have to be an experienced player, you could even be a new player, but you'd be either way one who is willing to learn and at least attempt to role play your character (as opposed to roll playing your character). Lastly, while you'd have an idea of what sort of character you'd like to play, you would be willing to adapt to whatever was needed or you could end up with and be open to that. While I would prefer a group of people who already know each other and work well together, I'd also consider lone players or two or more to make up the numbers and/or to form a group who fit the above. If you're still interested, and this all seems to be something you'd be very interested in, you can either reply below or PM me. We can then have a chat on Discord to see if we're both a good fit for each other, the group, and the campaign.
