I am a DM looking for 4-5 players to begin a new campaign using the 5e Starter Set, Lost Mine of Phandelver. I
will be altering the plot from the adventure as written and will be
including elements from the Essentials Kit - Dragon of Icespire Peak
which is set in the same locale. This will be a fairly long campaign
encompassing levels 1-7. We will play every week on Mondays from 6:15pm
till 10:15pm UK time. Occasionally I may have a Monday that’s not
available; when that happens we will try to play on another day instead.
We will be using a video chat app (TBC), D&D Beyond and Roll20. Please do not apply until you’ve read this entire post. If
you have played or run Lost Mines of Phandelver or
Dragon of Icespire Peak, please do not apply. There are further requirements for players: You must be over 18 years of age. You will need to appear on camera and use a headset or earbuds to avoid echo. You
must be able to play in a quiet environment. No screaming children,
barking dogs, police sirens, etc. If at any time there is noise in your
environment, you must mute yourself when not speaking. You
must be able to consistently make game sessions at the scheduled time.
It's accepted that real life takes priority, so if for some reason you
can’t make a particular session, you should give me as much notice as
possible. You must show up to sessions on time. Players who are consistently late or absent will be replaced. You
must be willing to engage with me and the rest of the group outside of
the scheduled sessions. This will probably be just character progression
discussions, and some group chat. I’m looking for players who will
participate fully and think about the campaign beyond game nights. This
is not intended to be a huge additional commitment, and can be tailored
to your level of availability, it’s purely about investment in the
fiction. This
campaign will have a heavy emphasis on roleplay. You must be willing to
roleplay; this includes roleplaying your background, personality and
your relationships with other characters. You must be willing to commit to a campaign that will last for at least 7 levels of play. My
aim is to to make some new friends and have a laugh playing D&D for
some time to come! I'm really not as much of a tyrant as the above may
make me sound; I've just learned to be up-front with my expectations.
We can have a conversation about what you can expect of me in return. I
plan to start in a few weeks following some individual and group
discussions. New and experienced players are welcome. The
campaign takes place along the Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms and
you will begin play as a Harper agent, newly recruited in Neverwinter.
You can play any character build from the Player’s Handbook for sure,
and the majority of other Forgotten Realms races & classes should be
fine too. Please do not come with a character already made, but it’s
fine to have a concept in mind. Let me know what races and classes
you’re interested in. We will build your character together to better place them into the adventure and add personal story hooks for you to
follow. If
you are interested in applying for this game, please respond and let me know which days you’re available. Tell me a little
bit about your D&D experience and play style. Also let me know what
race and class you’re interested in playing (the character type isn’t
set in stone, just to give me an idea). The next step will be a call to
see if we are a good fit. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
