The year is 1915. You will play as Irish soldiers enlisted in the Royal Munster Fusiliers who have been sent to the battlefields of WW1 on the behalf of the British Empire. Each player will create four characters who will play through a grueling series of combat encounters set in the battlefields of France and the low countries. The wounded survivors will be sent to a military hospital in Liverpool, and there they will endure experimentation by British scientists and members of the Society for Psychical Research. These veterans will emerge with strange new psychic powers. They will be sent by the British Army to be tested against rebellious Irish Republicans and Socialists during the Easter rising and its aftermath. There, these psychic veterans will be caught between conflicting duties; in a web of intrigue and conflicting national identities, their loyalty, cunning, willpower, charisma, and brawn will be put to the test. This campaign will be a historical reimagining of the Irish Revolution, where psychic powers, miracles, and the supernatural will be given greater power and importance. Other than this, all world details will be in keeping with the best of 21st century historical scholarship. The game system will be GURPS 4th Edition. The gameplay will be sandbox-style, low-powered, and highly lethal. Players will take control of several characters each, many of whom will likely die. Player versus player intrigue and combat is permissible and encouraged. This is not a play by post game. This will be a three player game; one place is already filled, and I am looking for a further two players willing to game on a weekly basis on a weeknight between 1600-2200 GMT. Good communication skills and open-mindedness are essential, but experience with TTRPGs is not. Players in their late twenties or older with some college-level history education would be ideal. Rulebook .pdf files will be provided. Out-of-character racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, and other forms of bigotry will not be tolerated. However, due to the nature of the setting, these topics may become involved with the gameplay. If you are interested, send an email to irishrevolutionarypsychics@gmail.com detailing your experience with TTRPGs, why you are interested in this setting, and openings in your schedule available for gaming.
