Having spent the last few weeks taking a bit of time to
myself to “Rest and recuperate" and almost getting myself barred from the
stuck pig - I decided it’s time to be get back into the action, and what better
way than a straight forward dungeon clean up. We kicked things off in front of the stuck pig, however a
couple of our group had to head out a bit later due to Burglekutt being stuck
in the privy. (Rumour going round is that he got a dodgy bento box from someone
and it was past it’s prime..) The day passed pretty much uneventfully and so we
made camp for the evening. I was quickly awoken by a bright light and a panic-stricken
blaze shaking me awake. When I got to my senses, I could hear the familiar
sound of flapping wings and a mighty roar that could only come from a dragon. In perhaps not my finest hour and a moment of desperation I
ran off into the night forgetting about the horses Artemis was calling out for
us to mount and ride to safety. Upon returning there was only a leg left of the
trust Midshipman Hoof. Having known
being becalmed at sea for months on end I know better than to stick my nose up
at a opportunity for fresh rations and so Versot cooked the remainder of my
trusted horse, During which Burglekutt and Teres showed up and continued on the
adventure with us. We arrived at the ....ruins(This thing really is a wreck the
way they described it they were passing off a rowboat as a warship..), and were
given a guides tour by Artemis and Teres. It appears the castle came with a
couple of denizens already - A blacksmith and a goblin who appears to still be
in nappies. We then headed down into the basement and beyond the knowledge
of our guides, however we heard the shouts of a man who seemed to have been
trapped down here by goblin raiders. While everyone was fussing over this new
castle occupant, A loud alarm ringing off in my ears distracted me from what
was happening, which was unfortunate as a ghost appeared and tried to attack! Luckily,
it seemed a bit unwieldy as it missed me - even though it seemed to have the
advantage in combat. The remainder of the fight was more a game of cat and mouse
as the spirit phased through the walls and avoided most of our attacks. Both
Versot and I were knocked down in this fight, but we were not down for long due
to the abundance of healing from my crewmates. Eventually we landed enough hits
on the spirit to scare it off, which was fortunate as I needed a breather. Continuing our chat with the farmer he informed us of a
goblin encampment in the lower levels of the basement, which we quickly
investigated. The area seemed pretty desolate with not a lot of activity to
indicate that the area was being lived in, but we pushed on none the less -
Blaze even sacrificing one of his chunky rats to detect potential traps
appearing in our path. After a few alcoves with some minor trinkets inside, we
were beset by Wargs - huge canine beasts which seemed dead set on forcing me to
planking position! However, the group held their own and defeated the beasts -
Who seemed to have an ample supply of treasure in their pens from previous
unfortunate adventurers. Deciding we had done enough investigating we headed back to
Hope to divvy up our loot and rest to maybe return some day.
But first I need a new horse..
