I'm relatively new to D&D and a little apprehensive, looking for a group to adopt me.

Well, a lot apprehensive. I have social anxiety about D&D based on the people I've heard playing it on those D&D horror story videos, but I'd like to think that is just the exception and not the status quo.  Some information about me, in case that you need it. What I know is about 5e, which is the version I'd prefer to play. I know how to manage my own character sheet and how to use Roll20. I'm a new player and I haven't played all the classes but the magic types interest me most. I really appreciate patience. I love seeing campaigns where the story is built with the players and the DM together. I'm open to pretty much anything regarding rules as long as some structure exists. I'd like it if I were not pandered to, as another previous campaign that ended early the DM gave us super powerful items right away and it made everything boring. I think a campaign where I fear the loss of my character would be nice so that I don't develop bad habits such as rushing into things. I appreciate a challenge, and harsh consequences. I don't like to stay up very late at night, in fact, when this is posted is when I will start getting ready for bed. I have Discord. I also spent about two hours writing this as I procrastinate to post it, like I said I'm apprehensive. I wrote this last. But here I go, I'm pressing the button now, I'm biting the bullet! I was wondering if there is an experienced DM out there who is willing to take in a new player and give me some guidance.. I know the basic rules and I spend some time every day looking at D&D related content and videos of how to play. I'd love to find the elusive and beloved forever DM that I hear so much about. If that DM would have me, I'd be very grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you in advance!
I'm burned out on 5e, but wish you the best of luck finding a group. One suggestion I have is you point out your end time (21:30 eastern) but not which days or how early your availability starts.  The day matters as many only play on certain nights (other life things need to be taken care of too) and start time can make sure that someone in a different timezone doesn't suggest a time when you are at work, school, or whatever.
That's a good suggestion! I would usually get off at about 8:30PM CST or 21:30 ET as you said, since I need to wake up early at around 5:30AM CST (6:30 ET). Thank you for reminding me!
