[LFG][Free][18+][D&D 3.5e] (long-term campaign) (Forgotten Realms) - Ripples in The Weave - (both new and experienced players welcome)

I am looking for dedicated players for a long term campaign that will take place in Forgotten Realms. The main story and events are homebrew but involve so many inspirations from a lot of different sources. All the adventures and dungeons are custom build. It will involve mature themes so I am only looking for ages 18+. Starting from 2nd chapter, the campaign will most likely branch out which might even give players a chance to play multiple characters following parallel but different storylines, if they desire. I am going to use 3.5e ruleset.  I am 32 years old and have experience as a DM for about 10 years. What I would like from players is to be attentive, involved in the story, and provide feedback on things you like and don't like. This is a very long term campaign with a balanced mix of long roleplay and combat heavy sessions. I would like to have players that enjoy both styles. I don't have any preference over player experience. So new and inexperienced players are welcome as well as experienced ones. I do want players, however, to put some effort in their character development and background. The players will start at lvl 1 so it shouldn't be too difficult to write a good background for your characters. If you want, I can help out developing your character and background individually, especially for players who are not familiar with the Forgotten Realms setting and the world of Toril. I do not have any specific restrictions on alignments for player characters as long as there is good roleplay. Although I would prefer a party of characters that can at least get along without serious conflicts due alignment differences. As for the game schedule; I am currently running two other campaigns which are more loosely scheduled. So what I want from this campaign is to have a more regular biweekly schedule. Currently planning to have it either on Thursdays or Fridays at 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm (GMT-4). Or Saturday 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (GMT-4). Just send me PM if interested.

Hello - are you planning on running this game once a week?  Would the campaign use audio or audio and camera?  Would it be possible to do an interview or a one-shot before committing, to see if I we would be a good fit?  I've played D&D on and off since '79 when I first got the Basic set.  I am still a bit new to 5e, but have done a few one-shot games and I have the PHB, DMG and MM.  I'm interested in finding a group that I feel comfortable gaming with on a weekly basis.  Friday nights would be a great time for me, but I am open to other times as well.  Currently, I also do a bit of music streaming on Twitch - about 4 times a month - so, I might eventually be open to playing on a live stream at some point, but I would definitely want to make sure that I feel comfortable with the group first! :) As far as character classes and concepts go, I am pretty open to trying new things - that's one of the things that keeps the game fresh!  I do prefer to play thinking characters, and enjoy solving things - but I also enjoy a fair bit of comedy in my role play as well!   And, of course, like some exciting, creative combat!   Some of my favorite characters over the years have been: a happy-go-lucky Bard (well, I'm a musician!), a Wizard who was hungry for knowledge, a Druid with a drinking problem, and a Fighter of noble birth who became a Paladin and then switched deities after he discovered how hypercritical his deity was (that was challenging!).  I have always wanted to play a Monk in a live D&D game (I have played them in games like Neverwinter Nights). -Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your interest. I am planning to run it biweekly but depending on players' interest I might turn it into weekly in the future. I am currently planning to only use audio through discord, but to be honest I never considered using camera. Maybe if everybody else is ok with it then we can use camera as well.  I certainly plan to do some kind of session zero to interview the players together and build up the characters, depending on the time we might even do an intro as well. I am planning to run 3.5e, however. If you are not familiar with 3.5e rule set that is ok. It is similar to 5e when it comes to basics but has much more detail and character customization options.  As for characters, I don't have any particular restrictions. This is a very neutral campaign so it is ok to play any alignment as well, as long as it doesn't cause any serious conflict with the rest of the party. So I am open to any concept (monk included) as long as you have a nice backstory, which I can also help out to generate. Fridays is a good option for me as well but I think it will be difficult to find enough players for Friday. Saturday seems to be a better option. Still since 5e is much more popular right now, it seems like it is going to be while until I get enough players. So feel free to let any of your friends know if they are interested in playing 3.5e long term campaign. -Selim

I'm interested in learning more.  I've been playing D&D in all its various editions since the boxed set in '78 (Qui-Gon and I are both old-timers, it seems). 

If you do it Friday, I have myself and my roommate who may like to play. We are avid and very experienced 3.5 players. Please keep us in mind. :)
