Hey folks! I’m currently recruiting players for a campaign in the making, due to start in a week. Volothamp (yes that Volothamp) is looking for help in finding and rescuing his friend who has disappeared. With the city's guards and forces preoccupied with the recent uptick of faction violence in the city, Volo is left with little choice but to hire local adventurers, still green behind the ears but looking to make a name for themselves in the city of splendor known as Waterdeep. Join up with other adventurers and would be heroes, as you race to Volo's friend, but rest assured, there's more secrets and treasures that await to be uncovered in this urban setting adventure. The adventure will take your characters from level 1 to 5 and if there's enough interest, the campaign will be continued with Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. The time slot is Mondays 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM (EDT) with up to three 10 minute breaks Session 0 is set for June 28. The rates are $15 per session with session 0 and the first session being free so you can see if the group and game are to your liking before you commit with your wallet. When it comes to paid games I believe the DM should be transparent about what they offer and what their intents and motivations are. Personally, I love DND. Been playing and DMing for over 4 years now and ever since the pandemic hit I’ve started running paid games as a way to help pay the bills while doing something I love. Ever since I started doing this the games I run are much more enjoyable, not just for me but also the players in my groups. Attendance is never an issue since there’s a financial stake and I’ve never canceled a game due to lack of players. Also thanks to the money I receive I’ve been able to upgrade my roll20 sub to pro allowing me to utilize API, dynamic lighting, and purchasing of assets/modules/and other fun goodies that help make the game run smoother. At the end of the day, I’m just so happy that I can run these games knowing attendance is never a problem. One of the worst feeling as a player or DM is getting excited for the next game only to have it be cancelled at the last minute or even worse get ghosted by a promising DM. That’s the main reason I run paid games: I just want to play consistent weekly games! I’ve definitely benefited from the payment I receive but knowing my players are gonna show up each week has been the greatest benefit by far. I’m the kind of the DM that heavily values the importance of pacing in a session. I try to make each session as episodic as I can meaning I try and make each session have a clear objective with a satisfying conclusion/cliffhanger/reveal. I rarely have sessions consisting of only RP or combat as I believe there should be a balance between the two.
