This will be a text-based game . We will not be using voice chat. Players will post in the Roll20 chat box only. (No Discord.) To keep the game moving smoothly, remember the following loose and fast rules: 1. Do not post novel-length chat comments. While I want you to be creative and immersive, try to keep it short and sweet. 2. Respect other players and do not take liberties with other player's characters in your descriptive text posts. For example, don't say that you hold another character's hand (for romantic reasons) and describe how he/she holds your hand back. Make sure you get that player's permission first, and let the player respond to your character's hand-grabbing action on their own. 3. Try to stay in character while posting. If you have an OOG (out-of-game) question or comment, make sure to indicate that your post is OOG. For a list of text chat commands, see the link here: https://wiki.roll20.net/Text_Chat . 4. We will be using side initiative. At the start of every round, I will declare what round number it is, and then I will roll 2d20 in the chat box. The first d20 result is the party's initiative. The second d20 result is the DM's initiative. Then the winning side will take its actions first. The losing side will take its actions last. When the adventuring party gets to take their turn, all players will post their actions at the same time in the chat box, along with corresponding dice rolls. The DM will scroll through posts resolving them one at a time. I strongly encourage players to have a single macro set up for each of your major actions, including the descriptive text that goes along with them. This is so you just tap a button very quickly in combat to make the rounds go faster, and it ensures that everything that happens in your turn gets posted all together in one single chat post. (Makes it easier to follow what's happening. For example, if you post you are moving and attacking, and then another player posts what he is doing, and then you post your attack roll, and then two other players post what they are doing, and then you roll your damage roll.... well, you can see how that could make it hard to scroll through and see everything you are doing so I can interpret it at the end of the round. Another option, if you do not care for macros, is to write everything out in a Word document and then cut and paste it into the chat box in one fell swoop of the Enter button. 5. We will take a 5- to 10-minute bio break at the session's halfway point every game.
