Folks, It's official! Tonight (June 24) will be our final regular installment of The Natural Ones. The group is closing in on the last great secret (and likely battles) surrounding the huge dragonshard that invaders from the sea had taken from the lost city of Haka'torvhak. Will our heroes emerge victorious? Next week, July 1, we will have a special capstone episode for The Natural Ones. There's homework involved--but it's fun. Here's what you need to know and to do: During our capstone episode next week, each player will be invited to provide a brief narrative (no more than about 5 minutes each) describing what the player's PC will want to accomplish in the future. (If you played more than one PC, you should prepare a narrative for each PC!) I invite you to be creative and decide what your PC might want to accomplish, both individually and with others. Map out a story about how the PC plans to go about accomplishing those goals. Try to think through some specific steps the PC would have to undertake to reach their final objectives. Each player will take a turn presenting their PC's narrative. Then other players will have the opportunity to pose potential obstacles to accomplishing those goals, or factors potentially contributing to the PC's success. We'll assign some dice rolls based on the group's assessment of how likely the PC might be in achieving their goals and come to a consensus, for each PC, of what their future story arc might ultimately include. It's all in good fun and not meant to be anything more than one final opportunity to collaborate on the story of The Natural Ones. We'll also take some time to reflect back on the campaign and collect feedback. Everyone is invited to recall memorable and enjoyable moments from the campaign and (possibly, with Steve C.'s input) award bonuses or boons of some kind to players for their contributions to use in the next campaign. Dirty secret--everyone should win at least one category, because you all were fabulous! Suggestions--by no means exhaustive--for categories to consider and offer nominations: Best contribution to a combat scene Best contribution to an NPC encounter Most engaging team discussion Best OOC quip, joke, or reference Most interesting character backstory as written Most interesting character story as developed Best cooperative play by a PC Most surprising moment or action by a PC that added enjoyment to the game In addition to recognizing each others' contributions, I'd invite you all to share with Steve C. and me moments, events, and elements that you really enjoyed in this campaign, as well as things you'd like to see developed in the next campaign. Recognizing that we're all human and doing this as a pastime and hobby, if there are things that will enhance your enjoyment of the game, we'd like to know what those things are. My guess is that the "capstone" portion of the July 1 session will take no more than about an hour, following which we can transition into a Session Zero for Steve C.'s new campaign. I'm really excited by this "graduation" and looking forward to what is to come! Koop
