Wizard (War Mage) – High Elf – Dia Xiloscient -  Elizabeth K.     Whom Could Not Make It Today!   Monk – Elf – Farren Nidanas -  Bahrrenn Drakke Wizard (Evocation) – High Elf – Feralda -  Chad N.   Farren and Feralda were retired the end of this session.     Game Summary for Saturday (06/19/2021):   Opening Scene: Day 37 : July 26th, 8:45 am   The adventurers are in the midst of fighting off an onslaught of dwarven ghouls, whom were victims of an elven banshee known as Vlydara. With the flaming sphere still active for another 3 rounds (18 seconds) it is moved up the stairwell as another ghoul is coming down. Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins: Farren fires his short bow at Ghoul #10, who is up in the fireplace chimney, dealing 6 piercing damage! Dia, fires a Ray of Frost at Ghoul #10, dealing 9 cold damage! Marcuria, pounds Ghoul #10 for 11 damage with the warhammer! Avery, fires a walloping bolt with the hand crossbow, hitting Ghoul #10 for 3 damage but he makes his strength saving throw rolling a 17 needing ≤ 10 and does not come tumbling out! Roqar, just stays back, taunting a Ghoul to run through the flaming sphere’s flames! Rolo, fires a fire bolt spell at Ghoul #10, dealing 11 fire damage and causing him to tumble out of the chimney, defeated! Feralda, casts a fire bolt spell at Ghoul #08, hitting for 7 fire damage and defeating him! Ghoul #09, is climbing up to get out of the chimney now. Juan, fires a light crossbow bolt up the chimney, hitting Ghoul #09 for 4 damage!   Combat Round #02: Farren, fires his long bow at Ghoul #09, hitting for 7 piercing damage! Dia, continues to move the flaming sphere up to the top of the stairs now. Marcuria, Avery and Roqar, follow up the stairs stay out of the flaming sphere’s reach. Rolo, fires a Fire Bolt spell, hitting for 9 fire damage to Ghoul #09! Feralda, fires a Fire Bolt spell, hitting Ghoul #09 for 7 fire damage, sending him tumbling out of the chimney defeated! End of Combat! The dwarven ghoul bodies are searched and only the castellan yields a find of a gold signet ring that bears the Axeholm crest, a handaxe clutched in a dwarven gauntlet, worth 5 gold pieces. Juan, looks in the west guard post room. And there are 2 ballistae facing east into the inner gauntlet and the gnawed bones, torn armor fragments, and rusty battleaxes of two dead dwarf guards lie in the middle of the room. Nothing of value is found upon them. Dia casts the Leomond’s Tiny Hut spell to create a 10 ft radius half sphere dome around the party  so that they have some protection while resting. Nothing comes around to interrupt the rest. Juan, casts the Create Food and Water spell to create 45 pounds of food and 30 gallons of water for the party after resting. Dia, casts the Mage Armor spell upon herself raising her armor class to 13+3=16. Rolo des the same raising his armor class to 16 as well. Juan has a look in the east guard post room off the north side of the throne room to see 2 ballistae in the room pointing west towards two arrow slits into the inner gauntlet. The north double doors to the throne room are unbarred and opened into the inner gauntlet. Then the next set of double doors to the north is unbarred and opens into the munstering hall. The party heads back upstairs in the stair well to the east of the throne room and enters the first door on the west side of the hall, into the room where the ghouls climbed down the chimney from. In the middle of this room stands a carved stone tub filled with gnawed dwarven bones. The tub is equipped with a faucet. A stone plug seals the drain in the tub’s bottom. Roqar says, "I still have my cast iron tub at home, just awhile longer before we can take a long soak".   Marcuria says, "By myself, Roqar. I want to actually feel clean afterwards”.   Roqar shrugs and says, “Have it your way, I just think my way is more fun".   There is a hole in the east wall just south of the east door, which looks like it was dug out by the ghouls and likely how they got into the chimney of the fireplace in the throne room. Marcuria opens the north door of the bathing room into an eight feet long hallway, a single door on it’s west end and turning south on its east end. A ghostly form emerges in the hallway now! The luminous, wispy form of a female elf floats in the dusty hallway before you, its face wreathed in a tangle of gossamer hair, its body clad in spectral rags that flutter around it. The apparition’s face becomes a mask of rage as it screams, “Get out of my house!” Marcuria says, "...Great. Another one of these. Sorry, but there's a lot of lives depending on us. Can't walk away now”.   Roqar says, “We really don’t wanna leave”.   This then causes Vlydara the elf maiden banshee, to alter her appearance into a horrifying visage in the hope that she can frighten the party away. It works on Avery and Roqar and they run off. Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins:   Avery, is running away.   Dia, tries her Tasha’s Hideous Laughter spell on the banshee and Vlydara rolls a 2 needing ≥ 15 on her wisdom saving throw and the spell takes effect, causing her to burst out in uncontrollable laughter!   Marcuria, stays back.   Roqar, is running away.   Juan, runs over to Vlydara, swinging his macially glowing +1 Lightbringer mace but missed her!   Vlydara gets to make a wisdom saving throw against the uncontrolled laughing due to the attack, rolling a 5 and failing!   Farren, through a divine gift from his deity, even though he is not yet ready in his training, is able to punch Vlydara’s ghostly form for 9 damage! Vlydara rolls a 3 on her wisdom save against the laught spell, failing!   Rolo, casts the fire bolt cantrip, striking Vlydara for 9 damage! This time Vlydara rolls a 19 on the wisdom save against the laughing spell and shakes off its effects!   Feralda, hurries after Avery trying to grab her but rolls a 0 on a strength check!     2 nd Attacks for Round #01:   Farren, again pounds his fist (unarmed strike) into Vlydara’s ghostly form, causing 10 damage!   [You do your first attacks during the initial part of the round then go back through the turn order in order of attack again to do your 2 nd attack or bonus action. This repeats until all players’ attacks and bonus moves are done, then the current round is over and we move to the next round.]     Combat Round #02:   Avery, continues to be frightened by the banhee, rolling a 9 on the wisdom saving throw and continues to run away!   Dia, goes after Roqar and tries to grab her, rolling a 10 needing ≥ 19 and fails!   Vlydara the banshee, now lets out a mournful wail, which could drop a victim to 0 hit points! Farren, Juan and Marcuria all make their constitution saving throw and are not affected!   Marcuria, uses her rage ability now and uses form of the beast to grow a tail, which hits for  2 rage + 7 damage!

Roqar, gets to make a save against the fright and rolls a 6 on the wisdom saving, failing and keeps on running!   Juan, pounds Vlydara the banshee for 8 + 2 radiant damage with the +1 Lightbringer mace!   Farren, pounds Vlydara the banshee for 7 damage!   Rolo, fires four Magic Missiles into Vlydara dealing a total of 13 force damage!   Feralda, casts Enhance Ability upon Avery, giving her Owl Wisdom so she has advantage on wisdom checks!   2 nd Attacks for Round #02:   Farren, pounds Vlydara the banshee for  7 damage with the fist (unarmed strike)!   3 rd Attacks for Round #02   Farren, pounds Vlydara the banshee for 10 damage with the fist (unarmed strike)!   4 th Attacks for Round #2:   Farren, pounds Vlydara the banshee for 8 damage with the fist (unarmed strike)!     Combat Round #03:   Avery, rolls a 20 on the wisdom save, and is able to shake off the fright from the banshee now!   Dia, decides to try casting an Minor Illusion for Roqar to see, with the idea of it giving her happy thoughs, so she makes a bathtub and warm fluffy towels appear in front of her! This will give Roqar an advantage on the wisdom save against the fright!   Instead of attacking the party, Vlydara the banshee now goes south, right through the fortress wall! Marcuria runs into the room to the south, through the door, (middle room in the hall), and whips her tail at the banshee dealing 2 rage + 6 damage, defeating Vlydara! Room Description: This bedroom was set aside for honored guests, but its furnishings have decayed with age and are covered with dust and cobwebs. Nothing of any value is found in the room and no secret door or hidden item was found. Going to the north door on the east-most side of the hallway, it is entered to see a hall littered with rumble, likely from an earthquake. Opening the double doors in this hall’s west wall, opens out onto a stone balcony which overlooks the mustering hall. The third door in the south wall of the main hallway is opened now and reveals: A stone-framed bed with a moldy mattress stands in the middle of this room, covered in dust and cobwebs. Set into the south wall is a soot-stained fireplace. Juan has a look in the fireplace and spots two dwarven hand prints in the soot of the fireplace’s back wall but doesn’t investigate any farther out of fear something could be behind the wall. Nothing of any value is found in the current bedroom. The party goes to the western door of the main hallway and opens it. Rusty chain mail curtains conceal a pair of privies, each with a wooden bench set against the back wall.  Feralda, fires a fire bolt cantrip up the chimney after hearing some fluttering noise and it does hit a stirge, dropping it to the floor from the chimney! Rolo does the same right after her and drops another stirge!   Initiative Rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins: Roqar, just draws her sword now! Farren, fires his shortbow, nailing Stirge #03 for 9 damage, defeating it! Marcuria, grabs Feralda to pull her back from near the fireplace! Dia, casts a Web spell into the chimney to block it! Rolo, fires a Fire bolt up into the webbing in the chimney, which then ignites the web, dealing 6 damage to the remaining Stirges (#04 to #10)! They all plop down, from the chimney as the webbing burns away, smoldering on the fireplace floor! End of Combat!   Marcuria goes back to the guest bedroom in the middle of the long hallway to have a look in it’s fireplace but does not see anything out of the ordinary. Same with Juan. Marcuria gives Juan the healing potion restoring 5 hit points. The party goes back down stairs to the western double doors of the throne room and opens them. In the middle of this room, a carved stone dining table (15 feet long by 5 feet wide) is flanked by a pair of equally long wooden benches. Above the table hang two iron chandeliers, their candles long since melted away. North of the seating area is a sooty fireplace and an alcove containing a rough-hewn pit that descends 60 feet. Two 50 ft length of rope is tied together and Marcuria and Roqar prepare to climb down after a stone with a light spell is cast down into the pit. At the bottom appears to be bone fragments. It is decide that a bonfire spell would be cast down into the pit to burn up anything down there and Feralda does so. The flames flare up the pit initially due to the gases then die back down. As it burns the dinning room gets all smokey. The updraft in the fireplace pulling some of it up. Marcuria, goes down halfway with a stone with light cast upon it, after Feralda dispels the bonfire and the smoke clears. There’s really nothing more than burn bones and food waste down there so she climbs back up. The door in the south east corner of the dining room is entered next to reveal: The dusty room has all the trappings one expects to find in a dwarven kitchen, including metal dishware, utensils, and drinking mugs. A stone sink is equipped with a faucet. The party searches the room and fire place, but no secret doors or hidden items is found and there is nothing of value laying around. The adventurers head on back to Phandalin. Town Master Harbin Wester is visited and Marcuria informs him that Axeholm fortress is secure for habitation by the townsfolk to hide in until the the green and white dragons are dealt with. Harbin pays the job fee of 250 gold pieces, by sticking his hand out the door with the pouch of coins and handing it to Marcuria, still afraid of the dragons. Marcuria notes a job on the job board: “The dragon that besets us is not the first to threaten this region. Between here and Neverwinter lies the barrow mound of a warrior whose magical dragon-slaying sword helped fell a green dragon terrorizing the High Road a century ago. Rumor has it the dragon slayer sword is buried there too. Retrieve it, and let the sword be its own reward!” Meanwhile while at the Stonehill Inn, Feralda receives a courier letter saying her family got in big trouble and needs her help immediately. Hoping there is still time she tells the adventurers, she will be leaving first thing in the morning and says her goodbyes. Marcuria, informs Toblen Stonehill the innkeeper to help spread the word around town to get the townsfolks belongings packed up, in order to head out to Axeholm fortress the next day. Toblen, informs the party that Orcs are coming around again stealing foodstuffs, after Roqar inquires about it. The party meets Butterfinger the dwarf bard and Thyus the human warlock in the Stonehill Inn and exchange banter with the newcomers. When Toblen pays Butterfinger for performing earlier Avery offers to pay 13 of his 25 gold pieces fee. After a meal and drinks it appears Thyus and Butterfinger will help with getting the town evacuated to Axeholm, with the party acting as guards for the townsfolks. Butterfinger’s and Thyus’s curiosity likely piqued about seeing an ancient dwarven fortress, afterall, at least Butterfinger was drawn into town by the news of the lost mines of phandelver being rediscovered.   And this ends the gaming session for the day, until next time!
