Looking up from the floor of the warehouse at the human Orlando standing on the catwalk above with what appeared to be a hobgoblin bodyguard, Twitch quickly cast her mind back on the events of the past day. Twitch had accepted a job lead from Captain Redtusk, confident that The Traveler had a path in mind for her. She traveled to The King's Coin, a seedy and notorious tavern in the Stormreach marketplace, with the code phrase to enter. There she met her friend and business acquaintance, the kobold Yipping, but it appeared that they were not the only invitees to this job. Also present were a brooding female tiefling called Envy, her pale male companion Lukar, as well as a socially awkward warforged named Legion. A goblin riding a warg greeted Yipping and ushered the group to meet in a private room with a person calling himself Sondar Lockman, who claimed to lead a bandit gang called the Jade Vipers. Sondar offered each member of the group 100 gp to clear out a warehouse that he claimed to own, although he was stingy on the details of what they could expect to find there. The group agreed to the terms and each received 50 gp in platinum pieces up front for the job. Traveling across town in the cover of darkness, the group approached the warehouse and located two thuggish guards playing cards outside. One of Twitch's companions indicated to her that the thugs bore the colors of a rival bandit gang, the Bilgerats, although that meant little to Twitch. Despite the group's best efforts to take down the guards silently, a brief fight ensued and the group was able to subdue the guards. Legion snuck through a window into the warehouse and found two bugbears fighting inside, apparently oblivious to the scuffle outside. The group charged through the warehouse doors and quickly frightened away one bugbear and took down the second. Just as it appeared as if the group had gained victory, Orlando emerged onto the catwalk above them with his hobgoblin guard. It appeared as if Legion and Orlando knew each other, because Orlando addressed Legion and demanded that the group leave immediately. Orlando had his guard hit him with an axe, leaving Orlando unharmed, to demonstrate his apparent toughness and invulnerability. Many thoughts and questions raced through Twitch's mind as this display unfolded above her. Who was this Orlando? How did he and Legion know one another? And what was so important about this warehouse, Orlando, or both, that had caused Sondar to pay the group to conduct this raid? The Traveler's ways are mysterious, and while Twitch's fate was destined only for The Traveler's glory, she knew that a path once taken closed some and opened myriads of others. Yet it appeared some significant choices lay immediately ahead both for Twitch and for her new companions. She hoped none of them were so rash or foolish to make a hasty decision when there appeared to be an opportunity for negotiation.
