Total newbies looking for 5e game

My roommate and I are both interested in playing DnD. Our only previous exposure was looking at some older edition books many years ago, maybe 2e or 3.5.  Anyway, we're looking for a free experience for now, but need someone who will guide us through the basics of game play. We'd be looking to play in English, with either voice ano/or video, and sometime in the later evenings.

Hi! I am in the position. I have played a few games before but haven't had the opportunity to play anything more than that. I am a newbie and would love to get involved in a game as a PC.
