So I'm trying to build a character sheet and really only have a semi-firm grasp of the basics. I'm trying to make a simple, functional and 'useful sheet' but am running into a few stumbling blocks, used the Kitchen sink version listed in the tutorials as a base. For those curious, the game is a homebrew based off of the Dwarf fortress 'Long night' mod with some borrowed elements from Underrail-Expeditions for the overall theme of it, it's meant to be just something for fun with friends and I wanted to try and learn something new with sheets since I couldn't find a system that really 'fit' the feel of the setting. The following are some of my many current issues: The system uses 3d6, roll under an attribute for various skill and attribute tests, same with attack rolls, though I am borrowing the idea of 'Roll 1d6' for skills from Lamentations of the Flame Princess . I have been trying to add in a 'button' that auto-rolls on the sheet, but haven't been able to compare it to an attribute (For example, having it roll such that a PC who has a Strength score of 10, needs to roll a 10 or less to succeed on such a check with 3d6), but all the options I've seen so far are for 'number of successes' with dice rolled similar to Wrath and Glory... which is not quite what I'm looking for. Is there a function or dice string I can use for such purposes? I'm trying to consolidate the sheet slightly so the players don't have to scroll a LONG time to get anywhere. I've tried to place some text boxes near one another in the sheet HTML, but when I go to see it in game, the Text boxes are still listed right below one another, or it becomes a horrible amalgamation. Is there a way to format some text-boxes that have info like 'Race, Archetype, Character name, Experience' and such in the same line together so as not to eat up so much vertical space? I've tried to borrow elements from other character sheets others have done, but it always shows up as 'red text' on the character sheet for when I do import some strings of code. Specifically trying to put in the inventory management of LOTFP , with the gain 1 encumbrance for every 6 items, but it all shows up as garish red text rather than black. I can't seem to find what is causing it. If anyone knows how to make a sorta 'inventory table' that a PC can use and list items more neatly than a text-box it'd be appreciated. I Think I have a hang of drop down lists (Though a in detail tutorial would be helpful as I'm not sure), but I can't figure out how to use the numbers listed in the drop down lists I've made to be placed into a formula (For instance a damage roll for an attack and damage button, or listed 1d6/1d8/1d10 put into said damage button). Thanks in advance for any hints/tips/tricks or tutorials you can point my way that make it a little easier!
