General Discussions and Shenanigans Thread #07:

Mr. Chiller, don't forget to add your four 1st level Paladin knight spells and two 2nd level spells. Also, pick a deity that Marshall worships. [This goes for all players as well, if you haven't already picked one, especially if your profession relies on getting your abilities and spells from them. Also, if you don't pick one, you won't be able to pray and get that 1% chance that the deity or one of it's avatars, will have audience with you and maybe grant what you ask for.] Typically, new characters do not have any magical items when starting, unless party members give them something. Though, if this were like a new high level module being started, where you face foes that are only hurt by magically enhanced items right from the start, then you would get something for sure, unless it's set up in a way that you acquire them first. That said maybe Buddy's, Juan Denero will let you have the Dragonbane sword. Plus, the party is at the Dragon Barrow, specifically looking for a sword rumored to be magically enhanced to fight dragons. <a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/paladin" rel="nofollow">https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/paladin</a> <a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/class/paladin" rel="nofollow">https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/class/paladin</a>
Roxxifarius: It was awhile ago I know, but she got a short sword with a leafy motif she took it from the body and replaced it with her own short sword and the body was wrapped up in webbing to be giant spider food will look through the logs and find it next couple days Dungeon Master: Ok, what I have so far found is that the +1 Great Sword from the sunken Star Crossed Lover by the old lighthouse, is apparently not on anyone's sheet. I have not come to a description of a magical short sword, in the Icespire module so now I check the Phandelver one. So, that +1 great sword could go to Mr. Chiller's Marshall then. I will put it on his sheet. As well as macros for shield punching and rushing. I also spotted that no one has the Mithral Chain Mail (AC 16; Str: 13) that (Big Al)&nbsp;Alfonse Kalazorn, awarded the party for finding his prized cow, Petunia.
Pretty sure I took that Mithril Chain mail the Mithril makes it light armor which is why as a Rogue I can wear it
Ok, in the Phandalin module, I came across this armor that no one appears to have: Dragonguard: &nbsp; This +1 breastplate (15+dex(max 2)), has a gold dragon motif worked into its design. (Marshall can have this since it's better than Chain mail).
Ok, yes Roxxifarius I see it in her equipment list now. I will place it's info on the sheet with the rest of her magical items.
Ok, Actually Marshall's AC would be 17 instead of the 18 it is now if as the Chain Mail is actually two steps better. So the Dragonguard +1 breastplate is still up for grabs.
Roxxifarius, I went through the Phandelver module locations and could not find the magical short sword.&nbsp; I think I have have described the Dragonbane sword as having a leafy pattern.
Alright guess its not magical so she will have a short sword with a leafy design then

Ricky, no! Marcy is wearing the breastplate actually, i'm pretty sure.

Another overlooked item I found, is the&nbsp; Small leather packet with fine dust inside. This is the Dust of Disappearance found in a book at the Woodland Manse. I don't think it was ever used so who wants this? Dust of Disappearance Wondrous item, uncommon Found in a small packet, this powder resembles very fine sand. There is enough of it for one use. When you use an action to throw the dust into the air, you and each creature and object within 10 feet of you become invisible for 2d4 minutes. The duration is the same for all subjects, and the dust is consumed when its magic takes effect. If a creature affected by the dust attacks or casts a spell, the invisibility ends for that creature. That appears to be it now, so everyone's sheet will be updated as well as the handout that shows all the magical items everyone has, once we see who has that packet.
Lady Roqar will take the Dust of Disappearance in case she actually needs to be sneaky for a change :P
Ok Roxxifarius, I will put it on her sheet now!
Looking at "Storm Lord's Wrath", I see I need to make a map and maybe a few more. I had already re-purposed 2 maps for use in the add-on module. I, of course look on the net, (none available on DMSGuild), to see if others had made maps and one person has but looks like I will still use the two mentioned and just make a new map for this next encounter I am on, of which I cannot find any user made maps for.&nbsp; Also, there is the usual incorrect tokens or blank tokens with just the names on them that have to be fixed. Next, is prepping the Add-On Module, "Sleeping Dragon's Wake". I have bought expansion material for "Storm Lord's Thunder", during the Xmas in July sale. Now, I just need to get "Storm Lord's Thunder", itself now. In addition to all of that, I need to work on making maps, and creating monster/npc sheets and encounter information, for my AD&amp;D game as well for "Caverns of Thracia", of which they will go through after "C1: Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan", coming up after two to four more sessions for "I1: Dwellers of the Forbidden City". So I will be busy, busy here trying to get this all prepped! I will need all your e-mail addresses, since starting with "Storm Lord's Wrath" I am just going to e-mail out the edited down Chat Archive and Weekly Summaries from then on. I know I have Buddy's and Roxxifarius's e-mails addresses. I am doing this to keep from adding to the clutter from the threads, since it is not like a BBS forum set-up where I can compartmentalize the information. Also, it will be just two posts since I am not limited to posting 3 MS Word pages at a time. Those of you just reading the game I will need your e-mail addresses as well, if you wish to continue reading the adventures.
Elizabeth, i'm fairly certain Marcy is supposed to have the Clockwork Amulet, although it's still on her bio for some reason. Marcy's supposed to have it, right? Since Marcy doesn't use spells and such.
Heres an idea, we leave the sword, go to town, buy a few bags of flour, come back, toss the flour around, if we roll good, it will catch the Stalker and coat it in flour
I have a different, more instant-gratitude idea. Marcy cuts herself with the axe, puts the blood on the blade, and uses the Clockwork Amulet to guarantee her next attack rolls a 14, which should hit. The blood will go all over the Stalker, making it visible.
The only problem I can see with that is that the DM maybe doing the 50% miss chance with Invisible targets, if he is, its not that we dont roll high enough, its the odds are against us

All the DM is doing is making us roll with disadvantage. Clockwork Amulet will toss all of that right out the window, with one guaranteed hit out of Marcy, essentially. EDIT: Another possibility is to at least keep tabs on the creature's whereabouts via sound if the DM allows that to be possible somehow.
Ok, looks like I have the Add-On Adventure Module, "Sleeping Dragon's Wake" all set-up now and up next is the final add-on, "Divine Contention", that I need to work on. The modules, as usual have missing maps, or don't have a map of the indoors, or tokens with just names and no image and incorrect tokens. Some maps don't have all the detail mentioned in the boxed text. For example, I had to add the white dragon skull and sword image in the barrow. I do wish the maps looked realistic instead of cartoonish and the the tokens were a top-down view to match the maps, instead of 'Head' tokens.
"Psycho Goreman" is on sale on Vudu for $9.99 and was even recommended by Luke Gygax! I have the collector's Hunky Boy Edition blu-ray with the soundtrack! <a href="https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/details/PG-Psycho-Goreman/1599883" rel="nofollow">https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/details/PG-Psycho-Goreman/1599883</a>
I might not get last week's summary posted until after the game session tomorrow, though I might try and stay up for another hour and get it done.
A Heads up here to let you all know that the "Fu Manchu Cycle 1965-1969" blu-ray set is 30% off right now using the Discount Code: POWERHOUSE <a href="https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/the-fu-manchu-cycle-1965-1969-limited-edition/12659401.html" rel="nofollow">https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/the-fu-manchu-cycle-1965-1969-limited-edition/12659401.html</a> I should be getting this sometime next week. And another reminder of the "Drums of Fu Manchu" serial Blu-ray at Serial Squadron: <a href="https://serialsquadron.com/bluray/hybrid/index.html" rel="nofollow">https://serialsquadron.com/bluray/hybrid/index.html</a> Note: it's a hybrid blu-ray. They used the DvD quality print and enhanced it a bit more.
Less than 7 hours to back the "Captain Midnight" Comic Book Kickstarter! <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/publicdomaincomics/captain-midnight-100-page-giant-super-special" rel="nofollow">https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/publicdomaincomics/captain-midnight-100-page-giant-super-special</a>
I don't have the game summary from last week type all up yet. I am down to the 3rd round of combat with the ravens so far. I will have to work on it after the game tomorrow, sigh! Sorry about that!
Are we 6th level yet?&nbsp; Are we there yet? :P
You are almost 6th level!
rolo cant wait
What AD&amp;D has to say about Lycanthropy: If the player eats any belladonna within an hour after being bitten, there is a 25% chance the disease will not manifest itself, and thus the character will not be afflicted by it. Note that this infusion will incapacitate the person for 1-4 days and there is a 1% chance of the poison in it killing the creature. If not, then a 12th or higher level patriarch must be found to administer a cure disease within three days after being bitten. If the adventurer is only able to find a patriarch of a high enough level after the initial three days, or it will become a lycanthrope in 7-14 days, he or she may elect instead to have the priest attempt a remove curse, on the night of a full moon, or the night immediately preceding or following the full moon. This spell must be performed on the player character when he or she is in wereform. The beast will need to make a monster’s saving throw against magic, and while in wereform the creature will fight violently to put as much distance as it can between it and the patriarch performing the spell. If all this fails, there is still hope . . . In 5E: You basically just need to find belladonna or have a Remove Curse spell cast upon the victim, cast by a cleric or even wizard of 5th level or higher. For This Game: You need to have the belladonna administered within an hour to have a 25% chance of not contracting Lycanthropy with the 1% chance of being poisoned and die, (No Save). You will be incapacitated for 1D4 days. If the belladonna does not work or you can't find any.... You have a chance to find someone that can cast a Remove Curse on the night of a full moon, or the night immediately preceding or following the full moon. This spell must be performed on the player character when he or she is in wereform, which takes 7 to 14 days to manifest. The beast will need to make a wisdom saving throw against the magic, and while in wereform, well trying to fight to get as far away from the caster as possible.

That....seems kind of a bit much compared to how laid back 5e is with most other things, doesn't it, GM? Also a 25% chance for it to work at all, when we already need a nature roll to even find Wolfsbane at all, gives me the impression this whole thing is going to not be worth it. It'd be one thing if we could just buy it from a store in town and it had a very high chance to not work, but...seems to me like this is going to make the prospect of searching around in nature, only for it to either do nothing or worse, kill us, to be very, very unlikely to be worthwhile. Shouldn't Constitution have some impact on this too, also?
There's more than a D20 to use in the game, that said you need to roll percentile dice on the belladonna / wolfbane and a wisdom save on the remove curse. And this is an adventure game, not a shopping one. Letting the adventurers buy every before they go on the adventure defeats the purpose of the adventuring to find the things that help them deal with adversaries. Only basic supplies should be had in a town and when you get to a city that can have basic simple magical supplies, like potions and it should be a bit pricey at least. Be happy that Sister Garaele is even expanding her potion offering now that Phandalin and Leilon, has an increase in trade to deal with the encroaching evils. Sister Garaele, simply didn't have any wolfbane to use for the day and since a customer can offer to go find some in the woods all around Phandalin, The DM declaring a 40% chance or less to find enough for a concoction, shouldn't take many rolls.
I am typing up the 09/04/21 game summary and am on page 20 of 45, (not 96 like I mentioned above as that included the previous week's as well). So I am at the point where the party decides go to back to talk to the Stone Cold Reavers, in the summary. I am taking a break now, to maybe strum some guitar. I have a twitch page set up where I might stream the game from my end and also try to play requested tunes. Currently, I am trying not to monetize the page and I don't know how to make sure subbing doesn't charge you. There being no charge for requesting tunes for me to try and play, of which can be set up to have donations. <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/spectrekahless/about" rel="nofollow">https://www.twitch.tv/spectrekahless/about</a> Song Requests (Currently free):&nbsp; <a href="https://www.streamersonglist.com/t/spectrekahless/songs" rel="nofollow">https://www.streamersonglist.com/t/spectrekahless/songs</a> My first attempt, which I did not broadcast, was a tune requested by Buddy; R.E.M's "The One I love". It took at least 6 tries to get it to where you see it in the video and is really just one riff repeated through most of the tune aside of a chord change up 3/4th of the way in at the bridge:&nbsp; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SszcWcFJ87g" rel="nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SszcWcFJ87g</a> Buddy also requested, Herb Alpert's "Tijuana Taxi", which I will try to do! No Idea if I will attempt to sing the tunes!

That's not really the point. Very much not a fan of what is essentially layers upon layers of RNG to not become a werewolf or have someone else in the party not become a werewolf. Especially considering how frequently the dice just spit in your eyes. It's rng to find the wolfsbane, rng to not get bitten, double-sided RNG to have the wolfsbane even *work*.....or maybe it just kills you stone dead. This is on top of being rendered completely out of the campaign for 1d4 days. Starting to wonder if I should cancel that trip on saturday, now... What I am trying to say is that this is increasingly starting to inch towards being so much of a bother that it isn't worth trying to get it. I got a bad feeling about this next session to be sure. EDIT: I realize now i'm coming off as very whiny, and I apologize. It's just that this feels like a substantial curveball, especially for someone who doesn't actually have a lot of tabletop experience.
In case you don't already know, the, "Titan's Quest: Anniversary Edition", base game is currently FREE on Steam until 1pm ET September 23rd. The DLC bundle is discounted and was $9.56 for me. Buddy also has the game now!&nbsp; <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/475150/Titan_Quest_Anniversary_Edition/" rel="nofollow">https://store.steampowered.com/app/475150/Titan_Quest_Anniversary_Edition/</a>
Ok, everyone leveled up to level 6 and has&nbsp;14,452 experience points now. So Please get in the game and level up you characters prior to the game Saturday!
Working on it now! "The feral power within you increases, causing the natural weapons of your Form of the Beast to count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. In addition, your Form of the Beast weapons gain +1 to attack and damage rolls. This bonus increases to +2 at level 10 and +3 at level 14. You can also manifest an additional beastial feature when you transform, for a total of 2." Ricky, make sure to add +1 to attack and damage rolls for the beast weapon macros.

Another Free Game on Steam! <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/283270/Jagged_Alliance_1_Gold_Edition/" rel="nofollow">https://store.steampowered.com/app/283270/Jagged_Alliance_1_Gold_Edition/</a>
Okay so, if anyone wants to coordinate what they are doing for level 6: Marcy can now have 2 beast features, and her beast weapons are +1, including being magic. I gave Avery Dispel Magic, Protection From Poison(gee I wonder if that's relevant) and Warding Bond(need to get plat rings). I also swapped out her healing magic for Cure Wounds. Also she gets Countercharm now.
I gave "Lady" Roqar Expertise in Acrobatics and Perception, so she has a better chance to see things and do more tumbling&nbsp;
I had just added in Rolo's Shadow Blade and and Dispel Magic Spells. The Shadow Blade has 2 attack macros for Melee and Thrown. Only Buddy and Dan, need to Level up their Sheets now.
I am working on converting over the RL1 &amp; RL2 adventure modules, "The Craft Dungeon and Charnel Pits of Reynaldo Lazendry", from my AD&amp;D game to this 5E game. We will go through it either after "Storm Lord's Wrath" or after "Sleeping Dragon's Wake". I have ran folks through the first one at 1st-3rd level play and 5th-7th level of play.
Progress continues on, "The Craft Dungeon and Charnel Pits of Reynaldo Lazendry". I have about 14 more monsters to convert over, then I will give it all a once over and it will be ready for play. After that I will continue to copy / paste information over from "Caverns of Thracia" for my AD&amp;D game before I start upgrading maps with Dungeonographer. Then I will get "Storm Lord's Wrath" for this game and put in all of the add-on content.
Ok, with posting last Saturday's Chat Archive and Gaming Session Summary. I expect one more maybe two more sessions worth of posting before I switch over to sending them both via E-mail, with the start of "Storm Lord's Wrath", since things get cluttered with the way Roll20 formats the threads. I already have Buddy's, Dan's and Roxxifarius's E-mail address and need the rest of the party's so i can send them out!
I am going to go ahead and put the information on the two newly acquired staffs, on rolo's and Chiagold's sheets. Rolo will still need to cast then Identify on them over two nights before they actually know what they can do. We can say that Rolo cast detect magic on them at the end of the session and yes they are magical.

I am going to start the General Discussions thread in the Dragon of IceSpire module and have you all post to that thread now as we start "Storm Lord's Wrath". I will also move the House rules and miscellaneous thread over to the Icespire module, as well as the Attendance thread, so that all that info is for the add-on modules going forward until we play the Reynaldo Lazendry dungeon (between "Storm Lord's Wrath and "Sleeping Dragon's Wake"), and "Storm Lord's Thunder". After that Perhaps, "Tales of the Old Margreve" and or "Dungeon of the Mad Mage". I would like to see the characters progress up to level 20 so that it's feels like a complete campaign. I do currently have Curse of Strad and the other Yawning Portal Modules. Perhaps I could place one of the Yawning portal modules between Sleeping Dragon's Wake and Divine Contention. Perhaps, "S2: White Plume Mountain" as it's starting level is 8.&nbsp;
Saw the news about Isis star :( she was a hottie to watch back then, as for whats next, not sure if "Lady" Roqar will make it or not :P if not what ever character I have once we get to level 20 will be great highest level I have made it to was 16th so far in Pathfinder
