Ch. 77: A trip to the Dragon Barrow Between the High Road and Neverwinter Woods

Dungeon Master (GM): Howdy Hello Folks!   Mr Chiller: hiya   Roqar: Hey   Juan : whats up yall   Elizabeth K.: hey   Dungeon Master (GM): Daniel might not be able to make it in today.   Sirus: Alright. Danny is....Rolo? Right? Or...   Dungeon Master (GM): So lets see here. We are back in Phandalin now after arriving from Axeholm Ah! Rolo is here!   Sirus: yey Also I take it we got new character, or...?   ROLO: morning   Dungeon Master (GM): Yes, we have a Paladin knight joining the adventurers and he's hanging at the Stonehill Inn   ROLO: sorry late   Sirus: Sweet. A cleric and a paladin now. Nah it's fine, you didn't miss anything   Mr Chiller: greetings   Sirus: I guess we could start by introducing the paladin then.   Juan : you didnt miss anything bro how areyall   Sirus: guud   Roqar: Oh Dear another Knight :P  Tries to act more gallant   Sirus: Yes. You have to  actually  act ladylike, Roqar. :P   Dungeon Master (GM): Mr. Chiller you can level up Marshall's sheet. I just let every be the same level, here on roll20 due to the turnaround that can happen otherwise normally you would start at level 1   ROLO: welcome mr chiller   Mr Chiller: okay 12991 xp?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Roqar: We are close to Level 6 at last count so you might get that soon :)   Sirus: Mmmh yis So eager to hit level 6.   Dungeon Master (GM): level 6 = 14,000 xp   Mr Chiller: done   ROLO: yes lev 6 is got me drooling with power hunger i say to myself   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, let's just say it's two days later after returning from Axeholm fortress and it’s early morning around 7 am and take it from there. Let's have Marshall at the Stonehill Inn having a breakfast   Roqar: What Race is Marshall? Dwarf? Human?   Sirus: human   ROLO: good ?   Sirus: Lawful Neutral, the sheet says.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Positively famished. Come on, let's get something good before we have to head out again."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian nods, accompanying Marcy to the bar, although her eyes briefly lock onto Marshall for a moment or two, making a mental note.   Sirus: ...f Ok clicked wrong Have to pay attention to active tokens   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Morning guys, where are we going now? "   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "So Good Morning folks! Where are you all off to next? I see Mr. Wester has one job left on the job board. That was for going to the old Dragon Barrow to look for a rumored sword there."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Breakfast, first."   Juan : off to find some woman   ROLO: yes   Juan : and ale   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Yeah. We might take a look at that. How about something to eat first though?"   Juan : maybe play some cards   Roqar the Elf Rogue Roqar Female Elf (Rogue) Chevall of the Order of the Gauntlet pin   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Some woman you say?"   Juan : yes yes we need woman to tell us guys how great we are I have gold jk   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "I see."   Juan : lol just kidding   Roqar: "Maybe after you pay them"   Juan : thats why I said gold   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Ha Ha!"   Juan : lol
Dungeon Master (GM): [You folks need to decide on your next course of action here. Will it be checking out the location of Eris and Home on the rabbit skin map or will it be going to the barrow and Thundertree, to inform Reidoth of the green dragon's death and investigate it's tower home?]                    Sirus: I guess Eris/Home? First tho, need to prod Marshall a little bit.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Avery the Half-Elf Bard waited for things to settle down a bit with ordering something to eat, before approaching Marshall.   Elizabeth K.: Maybe the dragon's tower first, so we pick up any treasure before it's completely emptied?   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Greetings. You look...different from the usual customers here."   Sirus: not a terrible idea.   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Watches and listens to Avery talking with the new person   Marshall : and how might you define different friend   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "The attire you wear. The weapon at your side....and also, if I can be so bold, the determined gaze in your eye."   Marshall : I gather you and your friends here are travellers like myself, the names mars   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Yes. My name is Avery. My friends here are Marcuria, Lady Roqar, Juan, Dia and...the drow over there is Rolo. He's friendly enough."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hey."   Marshall : exactly how friendly can a drow be? haha   Juan : I am friendly too   Roqar the Elf Rogue Gives Mars a smile   Juan : marshall where you stay at   Marshall : stay?   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "He's a traveler, Juan. Wherever his home may be, it's far from here...."   Juan : oh ok I meant say where are yall from but didnt want to sound like a redneck   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Mars, if you wish...we happen to have a lot of adventuring on our plate. You're more than welcome to join us. Your talents would come in handy, to be sure."   Juan : ooc   Marshall : Western Aus, btw how do i use those in character boxes?   Sirus: click your token, click the SAY-SOMETHING macro, type what you want him to say in the box.   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "yeah I always forget to use this thing"   Sirus: You can use the EMOTE-SOMETHING macro for actions instead of talking   Marshall : ok thankyou   Juan Denero the Human Cleric I will drink a beer   Roqar: Should see them along the top of the screen after clicking your token   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Alright one beer for breakfast for juan coming right up."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "For me, i'll take whatever you've got that's a hot meal."   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Ok, Marcuria"   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "it would be unwise to turn down an offer like that, however who exactly is it that I would be travelling with. You don't exactly look like a band of criminals"   Dungeon Master (GM): [I can't find the darn menu handout and I tried to move it over from the other game but it says it would overwrite so it's here but I can't find it!]   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Toblen, another bottle for me, I had my breakfast before I came here, wine this time"   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "We're adventurers of a sort. Free-lancers, doing various jobs for people who need them done. Usually people in trouble."   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "however looks are almost always without a doubt deceiving "   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "welcome aboard"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...I can respect that attitude, Mars. It's a good way to live. I think you'll see we have good intentions, though."   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Right, coming right up Roqar."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Oh..! Um, Toblen, i'll have whatever Marcuria's having."   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Gives beer to Juan and bottle to Roqar   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "in that case, I'm pleased you'll take me"
Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "A pleasure, indeed....~"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Pops the cork and takes a drink   Juan Denero the Human Cleric to all our fallen comrades and to all the pretty ladies. To willie and the green smoke   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Flashes Marshall a smile before going to find her seat.   Toblen Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Make that two breakfasts Trilena!"   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "so who is this eris i heard mentioned earlier, is this your next contract?"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric glug glug glug glug drinks   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Eris is a spot on a map we found"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "No, it's a place on a map we found, I think....dunno why you'd name a place Eris, but we're going to find out. The information might not have been entirely....accurate, to put it bluntly...?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "How accurate is a map made by Orcs?"   Dungeon Master (GM): 20 minutes later Trilena Stonehill places the breakfasts for Marcuria and Avery.   Trilena Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "I hope you enjoy the meal ladies."   Sirus: What's the price on the food+drink?   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "A map made by orcs huh, that doesn't exactly sound appealing"   Dungeon Master (GM): since I can't find the map just say 1 gp a person Menu i mean   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "No, but if it leads somewhere interesting, might still be worth it....thanks, Toblen."   puts down a gold coin on the table to pay for the food, Avery doing the same.   ROLO: i will order brekfast too   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Mars, May I ask? What is your chosen, um, profession?"   Trilena Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Thank you Marcuria!"   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "I agree especially with 5 other souls to travel alongside"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Not at all. It's a pleasure.~"   Trilena Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Alright, I will get you a plate Rolo."   ROLO: ty   Sirus: Alright, that'll do me for now. I guess I will put my vote at the dragon tower. Then Eris/Home. If we are still up for more after that, then the barrow?   Trilena Stonehill the InnKeeper Comes back a few minutes with a breakfast plate for Rolo.   Elizabeth K.: Sounds good   Marshall the Human Paladin glances around at the other peculiar patrons and lingers for a second on avery   Trilena Stonehill the InnKeeper Says: "Enjoy your meal sir."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Takes note of Mars, chuckling and flashing a big, encouraging smile.   ROLO: ty i put a gp down to pay also   Juan : me too   Dungeon Master (GM): Sirus if you go to thundertree first you may as well go to the barrow prior since it's off the high road...Sildar knows where it is and can guide you there   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "who says we go kill some orcs"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Ugh. That's not even exciting anymore...."   Sirus: Ok so barrow first, then thundertree, then Eris?   Roqar: Sounds good to me   ROLO: thundertree?   Roqar: Former home of Green Dragon   ROLO: catchy name ohh my eyes light up with excitment   Roqar: nice little town except for the monsters around it   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, all for going to the dragon barrow say Aye   Sirus: aye   Marshall : aye   Roqar: aye   Dia Xiloscient: aye   Sirus: we goin   Dungeon Master (GM): half the party so far ok
ROLO: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): we are going there   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Mars Are you a member of any knightly orders? I am a Chevall of the order of the Gauntlet"   Dungeon Master (GM): let me bring up the realm map as you continue to mingle in the inn   Juan : aye aye   Dungeon Master (GM): now I need to check on the barrow location and mark it for you   ROLO: where i found thunder tree   Sirus: sounds like we're taking the high road again literally could stop by Neverwinter on the way, see about that gem?   Juan : true   Sirus: aaah wait, a thought   Juan : that wouldnt be a bad idea marcy   Sirus: Guys, the helm? The maybe possibly cursed helmet that made marcy's eyes go red when she tried it on?   Marshall : my token is not on the board hehe   Roqar: I know someone I can sell it to for a good price   Sirus: Isn't it time to get that ID'd?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, I just pinged the barrow location   ROLO: ty   Sirus: GM, can we have the helm be identified now, or does it need to go to someone special? Or it already is, and it's just a Dread Helm lawl   Dungeon Master (GM): it is a 50 mile trip so approxiamately 2 days travel trough grasslands   Sirus: Pfff. nvm   Dungeon Master (GM): oh yea sure ok so Rolo had cast identify the night before and rested and he found out that the helm simply has the wearer's eyes glow red for effect and nothing more   Sirus: hurr I guess Marcy will wear it for the time being, for when she needs to be spoopy and intimidating.   Dungeon Master (GM): Who wants that helm? ah ok Marcuria   ROLO: i would do that for sure   Sirus: Avery is good on stuff like that she'll pass   Juan : marcy should get the helm   Sirus: Maybe it'll help if a rock falls on her head. :P   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so Sildar leads the party to the spot where the Dragon Barrow is known to be...you camped out one evening and arrive at the place say around 6 pm   Roqar: When does the Sun Set?   ROLO: i will cast mage armor when we leave   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, during the trip up a cold wind from the west coast would assail you bringing occasional rain I believe it's august so like 9:15pm Roqar as you all approach the area you see a lone centaur up ahead! He smiles and waves at you all and approaches....what do you do?   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard waves back   Roqar: Watches him warily   Sirus: Avery will see if he's in a talkative mood yeah   Dungeon Master (GM): [looking for token]   Dungeon Master (GM): The centaur seems friendly enough to you all, and does not appear to be looking for trouble as he approaches.   Sirus: Does he know common?   Xanth the Centaur Says: "Greetings folks what brings you out this way? The Anchorites giving you trouble?"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "hey amigo how are you doing"   Sirus: christ juan. Really love to tempt fate don'tcha.   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "..Greetings. What brings you here then, centaur?"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Not lately. Not since we crushed the bastards flat. Just looking around."   Dungeon Master (GM): he's speaking elven   Sirus: Oh. Should have...argh, ok ignore that. Hang on.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "No we have beaten them down well enough I believe"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "..? What's he saying?..."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "..He's asking if the Anchorites have been trouble. It's speaking elvish....let me take care of this."   Xanth the Centaur Says: "Beaten them down? I am afraid not, as they still roam the relm here. I stay around here now because of them otherwise I would be deep in the Neverwinter woods."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "We dealt them a crushing defeat some time ago. I imagine they must be done licking their wounds by now."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Lets the Bard do the talking
Xanth the Centaur Says: "If you say they are licking their wounds, some must still be alive no?"   Juan : some probably are   Dungeon Master (GM): for reference you are in the hills that surround the barrow currently and not at the barrow itself   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Only those that managed to send word out of their failure. As you said, if they were completely gone, you would be back in the forests. Do you know where the remaining Anchorites congregate?"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "we would love to kill them"   Xanth the Centaur Says: "No I do not, they seem to be split into roaming bands now. Not coming from their usual places in the woods."   Says: "So as I mentioned, what brings you folks out this way? You seem to be looking for something as you are not on the High road."   Says: "My name is Xanth by the way."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "There is a dragon's barrow somewhere around here. We thought it prudent to go looking for it, now that there are a couple less dragons tormenting the area. Xanth...a nice name. My name is Avery."   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "My name is Juan, Juan Denero, the Spanish Johnny Cash."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian sighs and shakes her head lightly.   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "lol"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I'm Lady Roqar"   Xanth the Centaur Says: "A couple less dragons you say? Well if you are heading to the barrow I must warn you that Strange witchlights hover over Dragon Barrow at night. The hill is haunted by the restless spirits of the dead and that Neverwinter Wood has become overrun with orcs in league with half-orc spellcasters. Deep in the forest, atop a cave-riddled hill, is a circle of standing stones where the evil half-orcs perform their dark rites. "   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "....Do you suppose this is all coming from those half-orcs, then?...."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Maybe we should find the henge in the woods first?"   Xanth the Centaur Says: "The possibility is there so yes."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Alright. Perhaps we'll go see about them now, then. Thank you for the warning, Xanth."   Dungeon Master (GM): [when he mentions the location it should dawn on you that it sounds like the circle of Thunder you visited where the anchorites were performing rituals on a hill with a stonehenge-like structure with their living quarters in caves beneath it.]   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Although...the place sounds familiar. Like we'd been there already. I suppose there is the chance there are reinforcements...."   Xanth the Centaur Says: "You have been there?! Interesting, did you approach them? And yes there could be more."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We came, we saw and we kicked ass"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "amen roqar"   Xanth the Centaur Says: "Well that is good to hear I suppose."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Yes. We slew the Anchorites there, and released their sacrifices back into the wild......I fear that even if we do clear them out again, though....that they'll keep sending more to use the place again...."   Says: "If there was some way to make the place unusable for their dark rites..."   Xanth the Centaur Says: "The barrow is just over these hills that way (Pointing towards it). Not hard to miss due to the row of white rocks."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Thank you. Although it sounds like it might be best to deal with these Anchorites first.....again."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Cant Juan or someone? Bless it? or make it holy or something?"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "only thing holy about Juan is his underwear"   ROLO: lol   Xanth the Centaur Says: "I guess you could sanctify the Circle of Thunder if you wish."   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "maybe marshall can"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "I'm not religious in the slightest, but i'm pretty sure that'd be a mighty tall order. It'd have to be someone pretty high up, with a lot of power."   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Not safe? We have been to many places that were not safe"   Sirus: Yeah I think we need to go back there and kick ass again before visiting the barrow
Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "I am able to sanctify that place , alas only for a few minutes each day"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Damn. No good. Wouldn't be worth the bother."   Sirus: The place is laid out with massive stones right GM? Would it set the Anchorites back if the stones were destroyed?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Winces as Mars speaks of sanctifying   Sirus: Almost wondering if Marcy could a pickaxe to the rune stones there and just break them to pieces. She still has the pickaxe from way back earlier   Xanth the Centaur Says: "The stones would have to be a part of their rituals. I have no idea if they are magical in nature."   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Interesting. Maybe the stones could be destroyed, then..."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Sure. I happen to have just the implement for that sort of job."   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard I start casting Detect Magic as a ritual   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "How big are these "stones""   Sirus: Dia, we're not there yet lawl   Xanth the Centaur Says: "Let me lead you to the barrow and have at it what you will but be careful."   Dia Xiloscient: Are those not stones on the other side of the centaur?   Sirus: Yeah but that's just where the barrow is   Xanth the Centaur Says: "oh I'd say at least 10 ft high like the ones here at the barrow." as you approach the barrow this is what is seen now: A thirty-foot-high hill rises ahead of you, its top too flat to be a natural occurrence. Jutting from the grassy hilltop is a row of ten-foot-tall, bone-white rocks that arc toward the stormy sky like outstretched talons.   Sirus: Are we not gonna go to the lightning circle anchorite area before going to the barrow? I'm a tad confused   Marshall : we can go by after the barrow   Sirus: It's coming up on night too, so if we went to the barrow now, that would mean Witchlights yeah And ok, sure. We can at least see the Barrow first, if we're all agreed on what we're doing.   Dungeon Master (GM): [the lightning circle is days away from here] granted you have about 3 hours before sunset so you could explore it now or wait till daybreak what do you all choose?   Sirus: My gut is telling me, that if we don't nip the Anchorite situation in the bud now, it's gonna screw us over when we explore the Barrow.   ROLO: im not sure   Sirus: Idk what Witchlights do, but I presume it's very bad   Marshall : how long to the barrow?   Sirus: We are like right there now   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "Shall we continue to this barrow while we have the sun in the sky"   Dungeon Master (GM): you are there now as Xanth just lead you up over a few small hills to it. at least you know where it is now   Roqar: If Witchlights = Will o Wisps from earlier editions yes it will be very bad   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "...Xanth....have you seen anything peculiar going on with this barrow during daylight? Or do the Witchlights only come out at night?"   Dungeon Master (GM): who wants to camp overnight somewhere within site or just out of sight of the barrow?   Sirus: If there's something Anchorite-related with the barrow during the day, then i'm gonna vote hard that we go beat up the Anchorites again first.   Roqar: Lets go for broke and camp in the middle of the flat top :P   Xanth the Centaur Says: "Nothing during the day no, but if the witchlights are what I believe them to be, it is dangerous to be around them."   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "lol"   Sirus: Gonna run an Insight check on Avery to see if she knows what Witchlights are.   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "roqar you sure do love to live dangerously"   Avery: 12 | 6 INSIGHT  (4) Avery   Sirus: 12. GM?   Xanth the Centaur Says: "To be sure I have not seen Anchorites approach the barrow since I have been in the area."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I get bored easily, always looking for more excitement"   Dungeon Master (GM): she does not know   Dia Xiloscient: 20 | 23 ARCANA  (7) Dia Xiloscient Would Dia's Arcana work for knowing?   Dungeon Master (GM): dia knows...they are fey
ROLO: just reelized this map is shaped like a dragon   Dungeon Master (GM): evil fey that prey on the living   ROLO: not a good sign   Dia Xiloscient: Do they naturally live on this plane, or would they have to be summoned?   ROLO: head to tail   Marshall : lets camp just outside the barrow   ROLO: did u see this map   Xanth the Centaur Says: "I believe they could be multi-planar."   Sirus: I presume Dia is gonna comment or share this info   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "These witchlights sound like a type of fey . . . evil ones . . . "   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "..Fffffffuck. I don't think this is a good idea, setting up camp outside the burrow. Just asking for those witchlights to suck us dry."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Thats bad, evil Fey, bad news"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so we are camping out over night then for sure?   Juan : yes   Sirus: A safe distance away yeah.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "It's good to know where this place is, but...I think it'd be a lot safer to go after the Anchorites and their crummy ritual circle crap first, before risking it with this burrow. "   ROLO: i can cast lemonds tiny hut   Sirus: so can dia.   Dungeon Master (GM): [you were already there, you would be going just to try and topple stone blocks that weigh tons]   Sirus: Wha Nonono hang on. We're at the burrow right now, right?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Sirus: Isn't the burrow and the place where the Anchorites were doing their rituals before a different place?   Marshall : yes   Sirus: Yeah right. The place that's a three day journey.   Dungeon Master (GM): I guess you could call the caves they lived in barrows as well   Sirus: I'm also presuming that there's more anchorites at that place now, if there's weird shit like Witchlights over the Dragon Barrow.   Dungeon Master (GM): let me bring up the realm map   ROLO: im confused to what we are doing this map clearly shows a dragon which i think they are summing dragons   Dungeon Master (GM): i just pinged the circle of thunder and dragon barrow you are looking at a roughly 51 mile trip through the woods at least 3 days   Juan : ok   Roqar: Maybe trying to make a Dracolich or awaken one?   Sirus: Right. Here's the thing tho. We either go for the dragon barrow now, and risk getting diddled by witchlight nonsense, and probably something much worse inside the barrow itself, or we do a 6 day diversion to go back to the Circle of Thunder, clear it again, destroy the stones there, and then come back and resume as normal.   Dungeon Master (GM): 3   6   5   2   ROLO: any sugestion for destroying stones   Dungeon Master (GM): I would think you would need a team of strong oxen or horses   Roqar: dont know spells that well but maybe shatter?   Sirus: could marcy just break the stones down to pieces with her pick? Instead of trying to take them away?   ROLO: would fireball help   Sirus: ...Unlikely....   Dungeon Master (GM): fireball would not help, it would just conform around the stones   Juan : it would just burn around the stones bet me to it dm kik lol   Mr Chiller: do these stones align in any way? do i need to roll for that   ROLO: chromatic orb with acid   Mr Chiller: in relation to the other set of stone   Dungeon Master (GM): ok as you camped out over night and Rolo cast the Leomond's tiny hut no encounters have wandered by.   Dia Xiloscient: Would a lot of thunder damage affect the stones?   Dungeon Master (GM): it is now early morning and you must decide if going back to the circle of thunder is worth it or have a look at the barrow now.   Sirus: Well you know what my vote is.   Dungeon Master (GM): all in favor of the barrow say aye   Roqar: I say check the barrow now   Mr Chiller: aye   Dia Xiloscient: aye   Dungeon Master (GM): 3 for the barrow and 1 for the circle of thunder I need rolo or juan to chime in here!   Sirus: Unfortunately, seems likely we're going to be going into the barrow anyways. Even if rolo and juan both said no, it'd just be a tie.   Dungeon Master (GM): ROLO? JUAN? What is your vote!!!!!!   Juan : aye
Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Barrow it is   Marcuria Violezi: Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "This is a mistake. My gut tells me so......"   Dungeon Master (GM): so again you approach the barrow and what do you do now?   Juan : Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "maybe"   Dia Xiloscient: Did we see the lights overnight?   Sirus: We should have been able to, since the hut is transparent from the inside out, like a 1-way mirror   Roqar: Look for a doorway or other entrance   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Fine. But be ready to bolt out of there if things get too dangerous...."   Sirus: Marcy will start looking for an entrance, starting from about here and working down.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Roqar i would need you to tell me where you are looking and give me a wisdom perception check   Roqar: 14 | 12 PERCEPTION  (2) Roqar   ROLO: morning i cast mage armor   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Rolo and Roqar where did you look for a doorway?   Marcuria Violezi: 13 | 4 PERCEPTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   ROLO: where did we have the hut   Dungeon Master (GM): the search is a typical 10 ft area around your token Rolo off to the side somewhere over other small hills   ROLO: ty   Dungeon Master (GM): where Roqar and Marcuria is now they did not find anything   Dia Xiloscient: 10 | 7 PERCEPTION  (3) Dia Xiloscient   Dungeon Master (GM): dia did not find anything   Sirus: Alright. Marcy will move along a ways and try elsewhere.   ROLO: 6 | 7 PERCEPTION  (4) Rolo   Dungeon Master (GM): Rolo did not find anything   Marcuria Violezi: 18 | 23 PERCEPTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Dia Xiloscient: Can I use investigation to look for clues about where an entrance is likely to be?   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria did not find anything   Dia Xiloscient: 14 | 14 INVESTIGATION  (7) Dia Xiloscient   Juan : 11 | 5 PERCEPTION  (2) Juan Denero   17 | 16 INVESTIGATION  (2) Juan Denero   Dungeon Master (GM): Dia did not find anything....make sure you move your tokens to a new spot at least 10 ft away from where you did not find anything! Juan did not find anything   Marcuria Violezi: 15 | 8 PERCEPTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria finds something!   Sirus: yay! what find   Juan : Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "bomb digity"   Dungeon Master (GM): the base of this bone white spine shaped rock is different than the others.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hey...hey, hang on! Think I see something..."   Sirus: Marcy will try to dislodge the spine-rock   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria sees a bit of an opening beneath the base of the rock!   ROLO: nice   Sirus: Marcy grabs the spine rock and tries lifting it up?   Dungeon Master (GM): do a strength check Marcuria   Marcuria Violezi: 6 | 12 STRENGTH  (4) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: oh ffs.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, no, she could not even budge it a little   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hf...hf....mind giving me a hand here, guys?..."
Dia Xiloscient: Does that make you angry :P   ROLO: check for secret door   Sirus: I am determined to not waste rage making this stupid rock move   Marshall : can i do a strength roll to lift it   Sirus: Roqar and Avery have high str. Maybe they can help Marcy move it   Marshall : im not sure of the command   Dungeon Master (GM): Rolo, that may be what Marcuria found   Sirus: Roqar and Avery have 18 str due to ogre gauntlets   Dungeon Master (GM): yes a strength check is needed   Sirus: if they help, can it be with advantage?   Roqar: 7 | 9 STRENGTH  (4) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): I would say yes   Marcuria Violezi: 21 | 13 STRENGTH  (4) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: 21 w/ advantage   Dungeon Master (GM): Marcuria did manage to get it to move a bit but the angle wasn't right for it to topple. It was like lifted up a bit but she couldn't move it more than straight up and down.   Marshall : how do i roll a strength check?   Sirus: Is it possible to keep lifting it straight up until it comes all the way out?   Dungeon Master (GM): click on quick reference then look at the submenu   Marshall : 11 | 5 STRENGTH  (3) Marshall   Sirus: Or go to character sheet, and core, click on the strength text on the left side where your ability scores are.   Marshall : oof   Sirus: mmmmm   Juan : 23 | 20 STRENGTH  (3) Juan Denero   Sirus: ayyyy Critical Success. Teamwork. Let's yeet this rock   Dungeon Master (GM): ok even with juan and marcuria the rock just moves up and down with the way you are trying to move it now   Sirus: So I take it there's something preventing it from being just deadlifted all the way out, GM?   Dia Xiloscient: 21 | 17 INVESTIGATION  (7) Dia Xiloscient Do I see anything other than rock and hole?   Juan : i have acrowvar   Sirus: I doubt a crowbar is going to help.   Dungeon Master (GM): yes, I guess it's just it's sheer weight, but I am going by the module which seems to indicate you need to do something else to get it out as with just your arms it won't topple over.   Sirus: Can it be broken apart?   Juan : cab we dig it out can we break it it yup sirus   Dungeon Master (GM): look at it this way if you had oxen or clydesdale horses how would you use them to topple something?   Sirus: Pull?   Dia Xiloscient: So rope around the rock?   Sirus: Like, tie it to the horses and have them start moving.   Dungeon Master (GM): Dia has an idea   Juan : can we a 3 to 1 knot   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Urgh...it's no use...not gonna work.....set it down....hff...."   Juan : round turn with a bowland   Roqar: push or pull it left right not up down   Sirus: Ok. Have dia say such things. And we'll go from there.   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Hey, Marcy, don't you have some rope?"   Juan : i have 100'   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Hff....hff.....yeah. You got an idea?"   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Maybe pulling would be easier?"   Marshall the Human Paladin Do you think the centaur might lend his strength as a work horse for us haha   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Maybe. Which direction, though?"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so Juan has rope and you tie it around the rock I assume?   Sirus: Marcy has rope also.   Dungeon Master (GM): the centaur will not go up on the barrow mound
Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Perhaps to the north, Marcuria. These spires seem to be pointing that direction anyways."   Dungeon Master (GM): so he is watching from afar   Dia Xiloscient the Elf Wizard Says: "Definitely not parallel to its length. Either East or West should be easiest."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so if we are pulling on the rope I need that strength check   Marshall : 19 | 17 STRENGTH (3) Marshall   Dia Xiloscient: Oh, are they tall and pointing up? I thought they were long and skinny   Sirus: Well the map image makes it look like they're pointing up, to me.   Dungeon Master (GM): Marshall gets it to move a bit but it does not topple   Juan : 14 | 6 STRENGTH  (3) Juan Denero   Marcuria Violezi: 12 | 10 STRENGTH  (4) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: fucking embarassing   Roqar: 16 | 9 STRENGTH  (4) Roqar   6 | 7 STRENGTH  (4) Roqar   Marshall : oof :(   Dia Xiloscient: All pull together and add the rolls?   Dungeon Master (GM): Juan and marcuria's effort does not work sam for Roqar   Marshall : tug of war   Dia Xiloscient: 2 | 12 STRENGTH SAVE  (-1) Dia Xiloscient   Sirus: wronge That's a saving throw not a check   Dungeon Master (GM): just keep rolling until someone gets it to move   Marshall : i hold at the front of the rope about 10 feet back from the stone   Marcuria Violezi: 19 | 18 STRENGTH  (4) Marcuria Violezi   Dia Xiloscient: But same modifier   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "someone grab the rope behind me"   ROLO: maybe try pushing down   Sirus: does an 18 pass?   Dungeon Master (GM): Oh ok we just need a 19 not a 20 so Marcuria did indeed get it to start to tip over and everyone else's effort helps it along some more and it topples over to the  1 west The opening beneath the rock reveals a 2-foot-wide spiral staircase with flagstone steps   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "who wants to go first?"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian doubles over briefly, catching her breath.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Me"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...Whoever built this, i'm gonna punch them in the mouth..."   ROLO: lol   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...Like...hell you are, Roq...."   Stands up and heads down the staircase in a huff.   Marshall the Human Paladin follows marcuria   Roqar: Follows Mars   ROLO: getting a drink brb   Juan : same   Marshall : anyone with darkvision or a torch   Juan : blind as hell   Sirus: Marcy still has lantern + oil iirc   Juan : oh ok   Roqar: Low light lantern and torches   Dungeon Master (GM): yes it is dark down there ok, so marcuria leads the way down, which is 30 ft   Roqar: Marcy light it up?   Sirus: Marcy lights lantern and continues onwards down the stairwell yes.   Roqar: Left or Right? Wisps..!"   Dungeon Master (GM): when you proceed forward they move away from you.   Sirus: instant regret tho   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "Marcy, hang on...!"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "...?...They're....not attacking...?"   Sirus: oooh don't trust this for a second, no sir.   Dungeon Master (GM): no they are not attacking   Roqar: "Maybe trying to lead to a trap"   Dia Xiloscient: Do I know anything about their normal behavior patterns? 8 | 27 ARCANA  (7) Dia Xiloscient   Sirus: nope   Dia Xiloscient: . . .   Dungeon Master (GM): just go by what Roqar said   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "I don't know. But I definitely don't feel like getting devoured today....no sudden moves, alright? And be ready to run for it if they do start attacking. We don't have much of a chance in these narrow confines...."   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "yeah being someones lunch isnt not a good day"   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Cautiously continues around the corner, keeping a sharp eye on the wisps as she does so.   Sirus: yoohoo rolo, roq, c'mon   Dungeon Master (GM): marcuria how exactly are you being cautious?   Sirus: moving gradually and slowly, listening carefully and keeping an eye on the wisps in case they do suddenly take a turn for the violent. no sudden moves   Dungeon Master (GM): alright and as you slowly follow the orb the floor suddenly gives out beneath your feet!   ROLO: k   Sirus: Dex save with advantage.   Marcuria Violezi: 22 | 11 DEXTERITY SAVE  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Sirus: yoooo 22   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, she grabs onto the side of the pit!   Roqar: 11 | 12 DEXTERITY SAVE  (5) Roqar   14 | 18 DEXTERITY SAVE  (5) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): 10 ft below here appears to be solid ground   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Ngh...a little help!?"   Sirus: The drop might not be too bad but there's no clear way back up from down there.   Juan : i have roap rpoe   Roqar: If Roqar did not fall she will grab Marcys arm   Juan : rope   Sirus: She's grabbing the edge just pull her up Juan, you doof :P   Juan : oh shit lol grab her up   Dia Xiloscient: Mage Hand Conjuration Cantrip Casting Time:  1 action Range:  30 feet Target:  A point you choose within range Components:  V, S Duration:  1 minute A spectral, floating hand appears at a point you choose within range. You are level 5 5*5=25   Marshall : yeah okay   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: ".....We started this. It's probably a good idea to go finish it. We get Juan patched up, go in there, try to...somehow, get rid of those damn wisps. "   Sirus: Actually no. 17 HP restored, leaving Marshall with 8 points left in reserve. and juan at full health   Marshall : my weapon is now considered magical and emits and a bright light for 20ft and dim light for 20 more for 1 minute   Dungeon Master (GM): alright ok Marshall   Sirus: actually I think it's about time to stop the session after that. look at the time lol   Roqar: Mars Welcome Hope you had fun but for some here its LUNCHtime   Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, we can stop here and feel free to discuss a plan of attack in the general discussions thread so that it's out of the way when we start next session!   Sirus: Ok.
