The adventurers are at the Stonehill Inn, getting breakfast with the exception of Roqar who had one at her house before arriving in the inn, so she orders a bottle of wine. A Paladin Knight, by the name of Marshall,  has arrived in town the evening prior and is also seated and eating a meal. The troubles in the region with Orcs, Goblins, Anchorites, Bugbears, the Redbrands gang and dragons having drawn him to the town.   As they all are enjoying their meals and drinks, they discuss on where to travel to next, the rabbit skin map found in the Wyvern Tor cave, rolled out on a table. They had introduced themselves to Marshall and told him of their travels and deeds and invite him to join them on the next trip and he accepts.   The choices appeared to be either going to the spot marked ‘Eris’ at the base of the Sword Mountains, about 10 miles south west of the Wyvern Tor mountain area. There is a spot labeled ‘Home’ approximately 6 miles south west of ‘Eris’. The Dragon Barrow location is also on the Many Arrows tribe Orc’s map, as they were looking at options to deal with the white dragon which chased them from their home.   It was decided that they would head for the Dragon Barrow, a gravesite, near where the dragon fell, of those whom had bravely fought a green dragon known as Azdraka. Lady Tanamere Alagondar, a royal scion of Neverwinter, is said to be laid to rest there, along with two companions.   The trip is roughly 40 miles north west of Phandalin, amid rolling hills and grasslands, between the High Road and Neverwinter Woods. A cold wind from the west coast assails the party bring occasional rain. During the 2 nd day of the trip, the party traveling roughly at a 24 mile a day pace through the grasslands, they spot a very tall fellow in the high grass, approaching them.   As he draws near he waves and calls out to the adventurers, “Greetings folks, what brings you out this way?! The Anchorites giving you trouble?!”, in the Elven language of the area. At this point they realize the fellow is a centaur, as he emerges from an area of tall grass.   Avery says, “Greetings, what brings you here then, Centaur?” (In Elven).   Marcuria says, “ Not since we crushed the bastards flat. Just looking around".  Roqar says, “No we have beaten them down well enough I believe”. The Centaur says, “Beaten them down? I am afraid not, as they still roam the realm here. I stay around here now because of them otherwise I would be deep in the Neverwinter woods."   Avery says, “We dealt them a crushing defeat some time ago. I imagine they must be done licking their wounds by now."   The Centaur says, “If you say they are licking their wounds, some must still be alive no?"   Avery says, "Only those that managed to send word out of their failure. As you said, if they were completely gone, you would be back in the forests. Do you know where the remaining Anchorites congregate?"   Juan says, "We would love to kill them”.   The Centaur says, “ No I do not, they seem to be split into roaming bands now. Not coming from their usual places in the woods. So as I mentioned, what brings you folks out this way? You seem to be looking for something as you are not on the High road. My name is Xanth, by the way”.   Avery says, "There is a dragon's barrow somewhere around here. We thought it prudent to go looking for it, now that there are a couple less dragons tormenting the area. Xanth...a nice name. My name is Avery."   Juan says, “My name is Juan Denero, the Spanish Johnny Cash”. Marcuria sighs and shakes her head. Juan Laughs.  Roqar says, “I’m Lady Roqar”.   Xanth the Centaur says, A couple less dragons you say? Well if you are heading to the barrow I must warn you that Strange witchlights hover over Dragon Barrow at night. The hill is haunted by the restless spirits of the dead and that Neverwinter Wood has become overrun with orcs in league with half-orc spellcasters. Deep in the forest, atop a cave-riddled hill, is a circle of standing stones where the evil half-orcs perform their dark rites. "   Avery says, "Although...the place sounds familiar. Like we'd been there already. I suppose there is the chance there are reinforcements...."   Xanth the Centaur says, "You have been there?! Interesting, did you approach them? And yes there could be more."   Roqar says, We came, we saw and we kicked ass". Juan says, “Amen Roqar”.   Xanth the Centaur says, "Well that is good to hear I suppose”.   Avery says, "Yes. We slew the Anchorites there, and released their sacrifices back into the wild......I fear that even if we do clear them out again, though....that they'll keep sending more to use the place again....", "If there was some way to make the place unusable for their dark rites..."   The adventurers talk of sanctifying the Circle of Thunder to render it unusable by the Anchorites and Xanth points out the general direction of where the Dragon Barrow is saying it can’t be missed due to the row of white rocks in the shape of dragon fins.   When the party approach the Dragon Barrow led by Xanth and Sildar this is what is seen:   A thirty-foot-high hill rises ahead of you, its top too flat to be a natural occurrence. Jutting from the grassy hilltop is a row of ten-foot-tall, bone-white rocks that arc toward the stormy sky like outstretched talons. Dia believes the Witchlights are evil fey that prey on the living, otherwise known as will-o-wisps.   The adventurers decide to camp out over night, at what they hope is a safe distance away from the barrow and look for a way inside at daybreak.   When daylight arrives, the adventurers begin probing around the barrow to find a way in as Xanth, who will not go near the Dragon Barrow,  stands a watch from the north end of it as Sildar covers the south.   It is Marcuria, that spots a difference at the base of one of the white spine shaped  rocks, as there is a bit of  an open depression at it’s base. When the adventurers try to lift it out together, they get it to move straight up a bit but can’t get leverage to tip it over so they try again with 100 ft of rope that Juan has.   The combined effort helps the rock spine to tip over to the west and topple over, revealing a two feet wide opening with a narrow flagstone staircase going down into the darkness below.   Marcuria, leads the way down in, holding her lantern for light, and heads down the 30 ft deep spiral stairwell.  As the bottom is reached two Orbs of Light are seen floating in the air, in the south and west direction Marcuria turns in, while Marshall sees one to the north, his divine sense causes his nose to twitch, registering a great sense of evil. He senses the presence of 3 evil beings. The Orbs stay ahead of the party and begin to float away from them.   Roqar warns the party that they may be trying to lead them to a trap.   Marcuria, follows the nearest Orb to her, which heads down a narrow 5 ft wide passage when suddenly the floor beneath her gives away! She rolls a high Dexterity Save of 22 and managed to grab onto the near side with a twist of her body. She managed to hold onto the lantern which did not break. The floor of the pit is 10 ft below. Dia with her Mage Hand spell providing 10 pounds of pull and Juan tries to lift her out then Roqar and Marcuria is helped out.   Juan, tries to jump over the 5 ft wide pit, rolling a 7 on a dexterity check he fails to do so and falls down into the pit and to his surprise the floor gives away from the impact, impaling him on 2 of the swords imbedded into the actual floor below for a total of 6 falling damage plus 8 more from the blades, screaming in pain from the trap!   Marcuria lowers rope down to Juan, who ties an end around his waist and the adventurers begin to  assist him out of the pit.   Avery casts her Healing Word spell down upon Juan restoring 7 hit points to him. Juan uses the same spell upon himself for 4 more hit points restored.   Dia asks Marcuria to lower her down into the pit so she can have a look, however the orb that was floating just south of the pit decides to try and finish Juan off and attacks him shocking him for 6 damage!   Initiative rolls are made and Combat Round #01 begins!   Will-O-Wisp, missed Juan with the shock!   Avery moves over to Marcuria to assist in pulling Juan out of the pit.   Rolo, fires 3 Magic Missiles at the Will-O-Wisp, dealing a total of 9 force damage to it!   Dia, grabs Rolo and drags him up the spiral stairwell!
Marcuria,  works quick to pull the rope up!   Marshall retreats up the stairs behind Dia and Rolo!   Roqar, follows Marshall!     2 nd Attacks / Bonus Actions for Round #01:   Avery and Marcuria, gets Juan out of the pit and he takes an action to head for the stairs!       Combat Round #02   Will-O-Wisp, tries to shock Juan again and missed!   Avery, dashes for the stairs!   Will-O-Wisp #02, follows Rolo but stops short, near the first Will-O-Wisp!   Dia, continues to flee up and out of the barrow and prepares the flaming sphere spell!   Marcuria, moves Juan to the stairs!   Marshall, continues to retreat out!   Roqar, retreats out!   Juan, retreats out!   End of Combat as the Will-O-Wisp, will not come outside!   Roqar, believes the Barrow is cursed and the Will-O-Wisps are not a product of Anchorites.   Dia, suggest patching up Juan and maybe plan a nighttime ambush on the Will-O-Wisp, out in the open.   Marcuria, is like no, as they might be more dangerous at night!   Roqar, now wants to go beat down more Anchorites or head to Thundertree to have a look at the old wizard tower that the green dragon (Venomfang) used for a lair.   Marshall meanwhile, after restoring 17 hit points to Juan (8 left for the day), decides to imbue his weapon with a sacred light using his sacred weapon ability and test if the light repels the orbs and goes back down, even though his divine sense feels their presence they are currently not near the stairwell.     And this ends the gaming session for the day, until next time!   It is now August 5th (Day 4?) at ??:?? pm.     The Adventurers’ Experience Points Earned This Session:   None this Session     Total:  0 XP 0 / 6 = 0 XP per Adventurer   ----------   Grand Total Experience Points:   Everyone is at 12,990,76 XP    Level 6 now reached at 14,000 XP     Loot Found This Session:   None this Session      Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 77 h Session for “Lost Mines of Phandelver / Dragon of Icespire Peak” 07/24/2021   [1st Session start was 08/15/2019]
