Drakke Wizard (War Mage) – High Elf – Dia Xiloscient - Elizabeth K. Game Summary for Saturday (08/01/2021): Opening Scene: Day 50: August 10th, 6:00 am Marshall had
decided to imbue his weapon with a sacred light using his sacred weapon ability
and test if the light repels the orbs and goes back down, even though his
divine sense feels their presence they are currently not near the stairwell. Marcuria,
hollers for him to come back up and Marshall does so. The adventurers decide to
travel onwards to the village of Thundertree for now and will come back to deal
with the will-o-wisp and whatever else is in store for them in the Dragon
Barrow, later. The trip is
roughly 17 miles up north and a little east through grasslands and there were
no encounters along the way. It is still daylight when they arrive at Reidoth
the druid’s house and knock on the door, Rogar shouting, “Hey Reidoth! You home”? Reidoth
says, “Yes, yes, one moment”! Then he opens the door and ask them what brings
them back to Thundertree? They mention that the green dragon (Venomfang) is now
dead. Reidoth, is glad to hear of the news and mentions that the dragon cultists
are still in the village, expecting the dragon to return. Reidoth,
mentions that the cultist leader Favric and the others will likely just move on
and look for another dragon to worship and do deeds for, once they believe the
green dragon is not returning. The party
stays over night in Reidoth’s home and first thing in the morning they head for
the old wizard toward that Venomfang took up residence in. At
the top of the hill stands a round tower with a cottage attached. Both are in
good condition, although half of the tower’s roof is gone. A door leads into
the cottage, and several arrow-slit windows are visible in the tower. You can’t
help but notice an eerie quiet in the area and a strange, acrid smell in the
air. The
corpses of two hideous giant spiders are sprawled near the edge of the pathway,
apparently dragged there. Their bloated bodies are puckered and blistered, and
appear to have been mauled by a large animal. Avery,
kicks one of the dead spiders, just to be sure. They have been laying there
since the party’s first visit to Thundertree. When
the door to the cottage is opened, they see it contains dusty furniture draped
in webbing, but nothing of value. The adventurers burn away the dusty webbing
and proceeded to search the cottage but no secret doors or anything of value
was to be found. Marcuria
opens the door on the east wall, into the tower. It is a single room with a 40-foot-high
ceiling. A 5-foot-wide staircase circles the interior, rising to the now-opened
rooftop that allows the dragon easy access to its new home. Heavy wooden beams
and stair supports crisscross the tower interior. There
is an old wooden chest broken open on the tower floor. Juan,
opens and looks at the contents of the chest and sees silver (800) and gold (150)
coin pieces, four silver goblets (60 gp value each), set with moonstones and two
scroll cases sticking out of the coins. Roqar,
pulls the scrolls out of the chest and looks them over for a trap. After not
finding any on them she hands them to Rolo, who opens the cases and unrolls the
scrolls to see the two parchments contain
the spells, Misty Step and Lightning Bolt. Roqar,
digs through the chest now and finds at it’s bottom a rusty old battle axe.
Seeing Dwarven runes on the axe it is giving to Rolo, who casts his Comprehend
Language spell and sees it reads simply, “HEW” upon it. She also finds a coffer
with three diamonds valued at 100 gp each in it. [The coffer was a tribute paid
to the green dragon by the cultists]. Rolo,
then casts detect magic and sees only the axe glows with a magical aura. The
adventurers head back to Reidoth’s place, deciding to leave the cultist alone
and Rolo casts his Identify spell after fixing a glass of wine with 100 gp
worth of ground up pearl, stirring it with an owl feather. Then swallows down a
live carp from the river about 3 miles away and drinks the pearly wine down. Rolo
finds that the battle axe is +1 value and deals maximum
damage when the wielder hits a plant creature or an object made of wood. The
next morning it is off to Neverwinter City, just 25 miles to the west. Arriving
near nightfall, they stay at the Driftwood Inn. Roqar fences the gem at the
city’s thief guild and persuades the Guildmistress to shell out 300 gp for it
and sold the four silver moonstones goblets for their actual value of 60 each.
The diamonds sold at face value of 100 each and the coffer itself for 10 gp. Rolo,
copies the Lightning Bolt spell from the scroll into his spell book, using the
special ink he needs, costing him 150 gp and 6 hours to do the task. Marcuria
went to the moneychanger in town to reduce the load of coins on the party. The
next morning the party heads back to the Dragon Barrow, roughly 26 miles south
east of Neverwinter City, to deal with
the will-o-wisps and try to retrieve the dragon hurting sword that is rumored
to be within. And this ends the gaming session for the day, until next time! It is now August 5th (Day 56; 6 days later) at 6:00 am.
