Chapter concept for my heroic exploits book by Jon Macintosh The following is based on true events: Wrendell got word of a new restaurant just off Crown Square. He had managed to convince Samba to come and sample what the other half eat. Samba is suspicious at first but agrees to visit the Rampant Roach with his entourage. Upon arrival Skirtal, the chef, bows and welcomes the group warmly making a fuss of the companions and seating them in prime seats at the best table in the small establishment. Everyone makes an order and the food is soon brought out in generous portions. To everyone's slight surprise the food is very tasty. Wrendell especially enjoys the spicy meat nuggets and expounds to Skirtal his appreciation. Skirtal then goes on to explain how he needs some help getting more meat for the kitchen stores and how his feckless nephew can barely scrape together enough supplies to last a single day. Wrendell offer the groups assistance in the matter in exchange for meals in the future and possible " French " lessons. Samba rests his face in his palm praying to the divine. Looking back up with a face of calm, he nods to Wrendell as if to say, "Think of the less fortunate and shine your light into the dark places". Skirtal's nephew Brix leads the party through the narrow back streets of Lower Zobeck and down into unknown alleys that lead to the Cartways. "This spot is a great place to put my traps. It's quiet and out of the way. No one should bover us down here." Though before he's finished his sentence the sounds of wild amusement can be heard from downstairs. "This sounds like fun." says Wrendell who pushes forward to find a group of Goblins goading the rats into fighting each other and betting on the results. "What are you doing with my rats?" yells a pained Brix. "Eh! These is our rats." reply the goblins. "No they aint." says Brix "Oh yes theys is!" Wrendell steps into the room. "Surely we can come to an agreement here. We're all friends here. No one wants to get hurt do they?" Wrendells appeal is almost starting to work when he accidentally steps in a rat trap and shouts in pain and surprise. His startled cry sets off the Goblins into a flurry of furious scimitars and another pack of rodents of unusual size rush in biting and gnashing. After a short but vicious fight the rats are all dead and the goblins have decided to drop their claim to the meat. Wrendell negotiates with Lord Grot terms of release and the goblins leave with slightly more than their pride damaged. Brix is worried that the rat meat may be damaged but Wrendell explains that the meat has been tenderised. The " German " word is Hamburger, another fashion of cuisine that could become a popular addition to the menu at the Rampant Roach.
