Weekly Gaming Session Summary #69 (08/07/2021)

A Thank You For Playing today's Dungeons & Dragons 5 th  Edition game of 08/07/2021 - From 10:00 am EDT, until 2:00 pm EDT, and our 79th Gaming Session, goes out to:   Barbarian – Human - Marcuria Violezi -  Connor D. Paladin Knight – Human – Marshall - Mr. Chiller Rogue Thief – High Elf - Roqar -  Roxxifarius War Priest – Human – Juan Denero –  Buddy-D   Wizard (War Mage) – High Elf – Dia Xiloscient -  Elizabeth K. Wizard (Sage/Scribe) – Drow Elf – Rolo -  Daniel M.     Whom Could Not Make It Today!   Monk – Elf – Farren Nidanas -  Bahrrenn Drakke     Game Summary for Saturday (08/07/2021):   Opening Scene: Day 56: August 16th, 6:00 am   Nightfall has come and the Will-O-Wisp inside the Dragon Barrow, have now come out and hover slowly around the barrow. The adventure party begins to cast spells upon themselves and others in preparation to do battle with the wisps. Dia and Rolo, casts the Mage Armor spell upon themselves armor protection the equivalent of a chain shirt + their dexterity bonus.  Dia also casts, Blur upon herself, blurring her image, giving disadvantage to an adversary in striking her., Dia then casts Longstrider upon Marcuria and Marshall, giving them 10 ft more extra movement speed. Juan, casts Shield of Faith upon Marcuria, upping her +1 armor  from  AC 15  to 17 + 2 Maximum Dexterity bonus equaling an AC of 19. Avery casts Heroism upon Juan, Marcuria, and Marshall, giving them 7 temporary hit points, Dia, casts Light upon a small rock and gives it to marcuria. As they approach the barrow, Juan fires his light crossbow at a Will-O-Wisp, whom them sinks into the ground, back into the barrow. Initiative Rolls are made and Combat Round #01begins: Marshall moves closer to the barrow.  Will-O-Wisp #03, also descends through the ground into the barrow. Marcuria, moves to go down into the barrow. Now Will-O-Wisp #02, sinks into the ground into the barrow. Dia then Avery, dashes towards the barrow. Rolo, moves towards the barrow. Juan, goes down into the barrow, seeing Wisp #03 he fires the light crossbow and scores a critical hit for 7 half damage due to damage resistance!   Combat Round #02: Marshall moves, reaching the bottom of the stairs and seeing Wisp #03, he jabs his +1 greatsword at it, hitting for 14 slashing damage!  Dia, runs down the spiral staircase now! Avery, dashes right behind Dia! Rolo, dashes down behind Avery! Juan, missed Will-O-Wisp #02 with his magical +1 Lightbringer mace! Roqar, follows the others down into the barrow.   Combat Round #03: Will-O-Wisp #02, shocks Juan for 4 + 3 more for Critical hit damage! Down to 33 after the 7 temporary HP are expended. Marshall, attempts to Turn Undead, and flees!   2 nd Attacks / Bonus Actions for Round #02: Marshall, uses his Channel Divinity ability to add his charisma modifier of +1to attack rolls for 1 minute!   Round #03 (Now being used to keep an orderly flow on Player Actions here): Marcuria looks for a trap in the passage but did not find one (Note: This typically takes 10 minutes per 10 ft section and I would roll a D10 to see how long it took to search if something was found otherwise it’s the full 10 minutes. However at this point the combat was not happening so this took 10 minutes). Dia, tries to determine where a Wisp went, and for all she knows it went through the walls into another passage or room somewhere, not being familiar with the barrow. Avery, comes down off the stair well. Roqar, looks for a trap as she moves along and none was found however, Juan goes ahead of her.   Round #04: Marshall moves down the passage using the light from his Channel Divinity spell upon his sword as a guide. Marcuria, dashes down a corridor. Dia, hands the lantern to Juan. Avery dashes down the corridor. Rolo, follows Avery. As Juan moves down the north Corridor he triggers a pit trap, and fails his dexterity saving throw! It’s similar to the previous one as the false floor gives away on impact and impales him on 4 swords, roughly 1 ft apart! He takes 6 falling + 12 damage from the swords!   Round #05: It is noted by Marshall that a Wisp enters a narrow 2 ft wide crevice and disappears as he enters the east sid room and sees it. Marcuria, just follows after Marshall. Dia, uses the help action to give Roqar advantage on pulling Juan up out of the pit. Avery, just hangs around for a moment, as does Rolo. Juan, gingerly moves off and away from an blades, and waits to tie a lowered rope around him. Roqar,  even with Dia’s help could not lift and pull Juan out of the pit just yet!   Round #06: Marshall, dashes up to where they pulled Juan out of the pit, to help him. Marcuria, begins to move to where Juan is.   Round #07: Marcuria, sets up a rope with a grappling hook, and sets the rope down into the pit. Dia, decides to jump across the 5 ft wide pit, rolling a 22 on an Acrobatics check she was successful! Avery, moves up to where the others are by the pit. Rolo, jumps across the pit, rolling 22 on an acrobatics check! Using the rope Marcuria set into the pit, Juan climbs down it, only to fail his dexterity check rolling a 7 and the fall does 5 damage to him! (Forgot about the blades so just say it’s included). Roqar, clears the pit, rolling a 19 on an acrobatics check, as she jumps across!
Marshall, tries to jump across rolling a 7 on an acrobatics check he fails and now rolls a dexterity check of 16 and grabs the far side ledge of the pit to avoid falling in but rolls a 7 on strength and could not pull himself out! Marcuria, waits to jump across, until there is more room to land on the other side as adventurers move. DIa, investigates a sarcophagus in an alcove, on the east side of the north passage. Inscribed upon it is the name, Tanamere Alagondar, whom she knows through tales to be a knight under Lady Alagondar. Avery, just bides her time for now. Rolo, investigates, a sarcophagus on the west side of the passage, in an alcove, and finds it reads Squire Sam Kanusk, upon the lid. Juan, takes the rope, pulls it to move the grapple off the ledge and tosses it up the other side and pulls himself out with a successful athletics roll of 16. Roqar, grabs hold of Marshall and tries to pull him up ????   Round #09: Marshall, using Roqar’s grip on him has leverage, rolls a 21 on a strength check and pulls himself up out of the pit now! Dia, searches for a trap in the first 10 ft of area after the east alcove where Tanamere’s sarcophagus is and rolling a 12 on a perception check, did not find one. Rolo, moves into the north chamber now, on the west side, checking the first 10 ft for a trap rolling a 10 on an investigating check and did not find one. Juan, climbs up out of the pit now. [Opps, no roll was made to check on this though!] Roqar, looks for a trap, rolling a 6 on a perception check and did not find one.   Round #10: Marshall, rolls an investigation check of 22, while looking at the dragon skull, while noting that on the wall  is inscribed Azdraka – Ancient White Dragon, he sees resting upon the skull a two-handed greatsword. He finds nothing more to note and runs his finger along the hilt and picks up the sword to have a closer look at it. It appears to be the sword they were looking for. Marcuria, just moves along. Dia, casts Detect Magic as a ritual. 10 minutes pass and the spell is cast, only the great sword in the room, glows with a magical aura.   Combat Round #11: (Back to Combat now) Marshall, moves to leave the chamber, with the newfound sword and the next thing he knows is that something slams him from behind, dealing 7 damage to him! Others nearby see this and wonder if he tripped up or something! Marcuria, activates here Rage ability and creates a carapace as her skin hardens. Dia, recast Blur upon herself. Avery, considers casting Vicious Mockery but can’t see or hear where her target is yet. Rolo, Casts Faerie Fire in the area where Marshall was attacked, the Invisible Stalker, was able to dodge out of the way rolling a 14 needing ≥ 14. Juan, moves and swings his +1 Lightbringer mace hoping it hits something but no.
