Skirtal is still worried for his nephew and asked if we could stick around for a few more days and help with more errands. The first day was relatively easy. The Roach has a lunch delivery service which was popular all around Zobeck. We spent the morning taking different meals to a variety of interesting and wonderful clients from scholars at the Arcaneum and inventors up in the Gear District and even some local nobility, The King of Scale Ally no less. With so much help Brix managed to get the deliveries filled giving us a chance to visit The Rough Patch -- Wrendell's favourite haunt. There was however, a small incident on the way to the pub with a group of alleyway hoods gathering taxes for taking a shortcut through their turf. Brix forgot to bring his purse and no one else could afford the tax. Wrendell had to explain to their leader Myk that taxes could be paid in currency other than gold and proceeded to start a dance move. Myk did a few steps of his own but was clearly outclassed. Another Backstreet Thug tried to cut in but knocked Brix over and then dropped his mace on Samba's toes, That's when things got interesting. Needless to say the Backstreet Boys were left lying in the gutter to work on their routine. We spent the rest of the afternoon over at the Rough Patch and finally made it back to the Rampant Roach in the evening. Skirtal was pacing about worried for his nephew. We had to explain that after the attempt on Brix we needed to stay off the streets for his safety. The next day Skirtal wanted Brix to go shopping for supplies. He handed over a list and made it especially clear that we needed to be back in the afternoon for another task. "There's nothin' on that list that yous'll find in a pub." After the street fight the previous day Brix wasn't keen to go out but Skirtal insisted and Wrendell said he would be fine as long as he didn't wander off. "We'll go down to the Cartways first and stay out of the main city streets as much as possible." So Brix begrudgingly came along. Looking at the list was quite enlightening. Simple stuff like Peppers and Rabbit meat don't stand out but the Bat tongues and Carrion Crawler saliva might be harder to find. I can tell you that Samba was giving Skirtal's Menu a second look. The cartway market is a sight to behold. Bizarre and Horrific are words that come to mind. Wrendell and Elden seemed very curious to look around but were pulled in line by Lea, their sensible companion. Samba didn't know quite where to look surrounded by a palpable unease. Brix led us through to the shop we were looking for only to find it closed.Taking a closer look I found the door was only stuck not locked but on opening was shocked by the sight and smell on the other side. The stench overwhelmed everyone in the corridor. A mangled corpse lay in a pool of ichor. Wrendell goes in for a closer look and is immediately set upon by what might be described as an assemblage of arms and hands stitched together with tongues and teeth that flail and grab, trying to tear Wrendell appart. As Wrendell hammers and smashes the creature it falls apart with each piece able to move about by itself. The rest of the party intervene and soon the monstrosity is defeated. The alchemist's shop is now able to be searched. Jars and vials line the shelves filled with all manner of potions and reagents. Suddenly a jar explodes and a living oozing grey sludge lunges out with tremulous psudopods that burn the skin and scour the weapons that hit it. Samba uses his magic to blast the ooze into a lifeless crust. Brix is now able to gather all the necessary supplies, though the alchemist himself is clearly dead, so takes some extra. I also found some interesting documents on the alchemist's desk. It seems that the Alchemist has set up here recently and, from the look of his spellbook, may have created something that got the better of him.
