Hail Brave Adventurers! D o you dare to venture into the mysterious land of Barvoia? If
so, I am forming a brave company of adventures who are interested in
character development, roleplay, and immersing themselves in the gothic horror
setting of Ravenloft. Whether its is your first time venturing into the
demi-plane of dread or a veteran to the Curse of Strahd module, this campaign will
likely hold something for all. I have been writing and running as a Dungeon
Master for Dungeons & Dragons for more than three decades. Though I am well
versed in the Ravenloft campaign setting in addition to creating and horror-based stories,
this will be my first-time running Curse of Strahd. However, I am something of
a obsessive compulsive writer and planner. As such I have not only extensively
researched the module, reviewed countless revisions, created an exhaustive
amount of artwork, music and maps but added quite a bit of my own content and
style to its existing content. I am particular about detail and helping a
new and veteran player detail the history and motivation of his or her
character. Due to the extensive amount of work and effort I put into all my
campaigns, I do have a few requirements that are non-negotiable before anyone
should reply to this posting. 1. Backstory: Be prepared to spend some time with me developing your
character’s history, personality and goals. If your idea of a character is a
stat block involving little else than race, race and a punchline – this won’t
be the campaign for you. I don’t expect anyone to write a novel but in order
for the storyline to have weight, players will need to have a well-developed
character. 2. Open Minded: The biggest hurdle to leap over in playing my campaigns is the
need to learn and play with my system, which has been extensively playtested
and improved for over twenty years. While it is themed around the basic
concepts of D&D it is very much its own thing. It is not a homebrew but rather
a standalone system that is 150+ illustrated pages with its own Monstrous Manual
and DMG. The reason why it exists is to help promote roleplay during character
creation, and during the game session regardless of whether the Player
Characters are in or out of combat. 3. Scheduling: Due to other sessions I am running on the weekend my availability for this campaign is only open for afternoon/evenings between Mondays
and Thursdays. During the week, I have uninterrupted free time so I can work
with just about anyone's schedule. Having good attendance is a requirement for
being a consistent part of my campaigns. No call No shows or habitual cancelations is a good way to lose your spot at the table. 4. Experience: Due to the fact that I run a different system that will require
you to learn a new set of rules, I do not require anyone to be a veteran of
D&D games in order to play. Having said that, I am not looking for a person
that has never played a roleplaying game before, unless said individual can
think on his or her feet and is adept at interacting with others. There is an
18+ requirement to join this campaign and the ability to get along with others.
Anyone that is easily provoked or enjoys starting party battles will not be a
good fit for my DM style. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If
these conditions sound like your cup of tea, please by all means feel free to
leave a response in this post or send me a PM and I will set up a VC interview
in a discord server and answer any further questions you might have! I am
hoping to have everything ready to go within a week depending how long the
recruitment process takes.
