Can I as a DM roll from a character sheet and it appear as if the character did the roll?

Just wondering if I can roll from an NPC character sheet and it not pop up as me, the GM, doing the roll but instead have the character's name and token doing the roll? I know there's that drop down menu of names you can roll as but I was wondering if there was any way for me to roll as the character without having to do that all the time as I make use of a lot of NPCs. If not, fair enough I just haven't found a straight answer on the forums yet.

Since you didn't specify which character sheet is being used, it is not possible to give a concrete answer. Some sheets have an option to display the name on the sheet with the roll. Maybe you should check to see if the sheet you use has that option.
It's the regular 5E one, my bad for not specifying.

Well, did you try turning that setting on? https://wiki.roll20.net/D%26D_5E_by_Roll20#General_Options_2
Do you mean just turning the NPC setting on?

Also I should rephrase my original post, it's not an NPC sheet but a character I am running as an NPC, I wanted to know if when rolling from their sheet if I could appear as the character instead of as the DM without having to use the Roll as drop down menu.

So instead of getting this in the chat when rolling as the character I get this: without constantly having to swap back and forth on this: I hope this clarifies my post enough.

If you are using the npc version of the sheet, the "Show NPC name in rolls" option is what I was talking about. It would insert the name in the roll template. If you are using the PC version of the sheet, there is a setting for it as well. https://wiki.roll20.net/D%26D_5E_by_Roll20#General_Options The "speaking as" isn't something that character sheets have control over. I think there might be an api script that can make changes to that, but would require the game creator to have a pro subscription for access to the api. However, turning on the setting to show names in the rolls means that it would always show the name of the sheet being rolled from, regardless of the "speaking as" setting.
Alright, thanks for the help.

If it is only a single character you are running this way, you can log in as that character using a Dummy Account . Then just switch windows or browsers when you need to make their roll. If you set their rolls up as macro bar buttons, you might be able to do this quite quickly.
