Ch. 84: After Acquiring Cures for Lycanthropy the Adventurers Head to the Mountain's Toe Gold Mine

ROLO: morning all slept great looking forward to playing with u all good morning all Dungeon Master (GM): Howdy Hello! Roqar: Morning Dungeon Master (GM): Mr. Chiller should be coming in ROLO: morning dm Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Mr. Chiller! Marshall : howdy' Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, we can get started, Buddy, might be coming in late maybe so, there is a plan with Marcuria looking to write a note to her contacts about cures for Lycanthrophy? And a visit to Daran Edermath at the orchard to discuss that as well? It's August 20th right now I believe and the full moon Occurs the 22nd ....then you need to wait until September 20th, game time so looks like you will need to wait a month really OK, so what course of action are we going to start off with here? It's the following morning on the 23 rd . Dungeon Master (GM): so you have a month to acquire a cure Marshall : lets speak to daran who else might we acquire a cure how* Dungeon Master (GM): through Marcuria's contacts I guess in Neverwinter ROLO: also i iwas readinding up on my spells for componets i only have one spell that consumes componets which is protection from good or evil the rest only need componets to cast Dungeon Master (GM): what Sirus mentioned: I was thinking that in the following morning, Marcuria could pen a letter to her criminal contact and use that to get information on someone in the game world that would be able to help them deal with the Wererat Lycanthropy if one or more of us do end up getting bitten and afflicted, which would become relevant if trying to cure it with Wolfsbane doesn't work. ok, Rolo ROLO: also did we get a long rest while here Dungeon Master (GM): yes, it's the following morning now ROLO: resting my spell slots ty Dungeon Master (GM): ok Roxxi are you there?! You can go pay a visit to Daran ROLO: would i be able to know any info on this to help Roqar: Yes I'm here Dungeon Master (GM): as a wizard, you would know that a Remove Curse spell should do the trick....if cast prior to, during, or right after a full moon ROLO: i let the party know that if they dont know it already Dungeon Master (GM): Does Rolo have that spell? Roqar: need my token ROLO: of curse i dont have that spell does anyone have it can i try to get it here if need be 3rd lev spell Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Morning, May I have a moment of your time?" Dungeon Master (GM): ok, it appears no one has that spell currently! Not in Phandalin, maybe in Neverwinter you can try to buy a scroll of it ROLO: k ty Dungeon Master (GM): if you guys actually manage to cure any of them I will double the XP on whomever you cure Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I was wondering if The Order could do anything to help us as we head off to fight a gang of lycanthropes?" Daran Edermath Says: "Oh, Hello There Roqar! Yes, I am not busy at the moment." Says: "A whole gang! By Help, do you mean eradication or curing?" Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We are more concerned with the curing part" Daran Edermath Says: "I see. Do you know anyone that has knowledge of a Remove Curse or a concoction made with wolfbane?" Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Sister Garaele has mentioned a concoction, once we bring her some wolvesbane" Daran Edermath Says: "With the later, I believe Sister Garaele can brew that for you." Says: "Acquiring the ability to cast a Remove Curse, could likely be had in Neverwinter." Says: "Do you have the funds for acquiring the items needed?" Roqar: (Hm, Lie? or be truthful? haha) ROLO: remove curse is a abjuration spell 3rd lev i get half the cost Roqar: So its 150 gp? or 300 full price? Dungeon Master (GM): from what i just found it's 90 for casting a remove curse (Level)2×10+(Consumed Materials×2)+(Non-consumed Materials×0.1) Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Um, I believe we have the funds for a spell of Remove Curse, if needed" Dungeon Master (GM): on a scroll it would be more i would think Daran Edermath Says: "Ok, however, if need be I may be able to get you the funds needed." Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Ah much appreciated, hoping we dont need it but good knowing its possible, have a good day and wish us good luck" Dungeon Master (GM): ha! you don't even need a material component when casting the remove curse: https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/remove-curse
ROLO: yep Dungeon Master (GM): but if you do it via a potion, you need wolfbane and wine at least ROLO: would u like me to get that spell for the party Roqar: Roqar has wine just need to find some wolvesbane thats the next job of the day Dungeon Master (GM): getting a scroll then you and others can copy from it, Juan would need to find a clerical scroll however so buying two scrolls in neverwinter or getting them through Marcuria's contacts...I guess it's a matter of whichever is cheaper for you. Roqar: Lets try the contacts first ROLO: and i get get half cost on abjuration spells which will help Dungeon Master (GM): ok, however with them, you need to wait for a courier to deliver the note, then the return reply...that's 5 days time Roqar: ah lets find out when we get back hehe searching for wolvesbane is the next job ROLO: i will help Dungeon Master (GM): which should be easy enough, just go into the woods at each compass direction around Phandalin and make a percentile roll of 40% or less Roqar: Ah ok we can do that Dungeon Master (GM): each find yields enough for 1 potion ROLO: cool Roqar: Is that each PC searching rolls? cause we want enough for the whole party? Dungeon Master (GM): so if rolo gets a scroll it's 45 gp yes you can do that ROLO: i cn do it for the the party Roqar: Roqar swings by the shrine to ask for good luck and then we can roll for each of us Dungeon Master (GM): ok Roqar: Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Tymora, We can use some good fortune as we prepare to fight some were rats" Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so you can go searching in the woods for the wolfbane now Roqar: and than we go searching for wolvesbane Dungeon Master (GM): it will be 50 per potion Roqar: we can afford that Marcuria Violezi: rolling 1d100( 38 ) = 38 she finds some Dungeon Master (GM): that's one dose Avery: rolling 1d100( 68 ) = 68 ROLO: do i need to roll too Dungeon Master (GM): each member of the party can roll, you are, let's say currently in woods north of the town ROLO: rolling 1d100( 80 ) = 80 Roqar: rolling 1d100( 80 ) = 80 Dungeon Master (GM): any more rolls? Juan Denero: rolling 1d100( 82 ) = 82 Marcuria Violezi: rolling 1d100( 89 ) = 89 ROLO: can we try again Dungeon Master (GM): in the north east woods yes ROLO: east Marcuria Violezi: Northeast then ROLO: k Marcuria Violezi: rolling 1d100( 59 ) = 59 ROLO: rolling 1d100( 38 ) = 38 Dungeon Master (GM): 2 doses now Avery: rolling 1d100( 73 ) = 73 Juan Denero: rolling 1d100( 85 ) = 85 Roqar: rolling 1d100( 58 ) = 58 ROLO: rolling 1d100( 22 ) = 22 Dungeon Master (GM): 3 bunches for 3 doses Roqar: ok now east Dungeon Master (GM): alright ROLO: how many we need Marcuria Violezi: rolling 1d100( 93 ) = 93 Avery: rolling 1d100( 44 ) = 44 Dungeon Master (GM): you don't know the exact number of them....however if you want to go by how WotC does things ...there is typically a number equal to the party + 1 ROLO: ty Juan Denero: rolling 1d100( 9 ) = 9 ROLO: rolling 1d100( 50 ) = 50 Dungeon Master (GM): 4 batches now Roqar: rolling 1d100( 56 ) = 56 south east now
ROLO: rolling 1d100( 37 ) = 37 Dungeon Master (GM): 5 batches ROLO: rolling 1d100( 23 ) = 23 rolling 1d100( 2 ) = 2 Dungeon Master (GM): 7 total ROLO: i found 3 great job Roqar: yes great job Drow :P Dungeon Master (GM): any more? you are looking at 350 in gold Roqar: we can afford that Dungeon Master (GM): ok so looks like now, you need to decide about going to Neverwinter city to get the scrolls which would be 45 for rolo and 90 for juan Roqar: was thinking we would get the potions made rather then go looking for scrolls Dungeon Master (GM): you can do that of course you do have some time before the next full moon September 20th...it's August 23rd Roqar: give Sister Garale some good wine to make them with Dungeon Master (GM): ok ROLO: where were the wererats again? Dungeon Master (GM): at the Mountain's Toe gold mine Roqar: Roqar will pay the cost for the potions to be made Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so you have a few weeks to kill before a full moon, what do you do until then? ok Roqar: once the potions are made we head off for the mine Dungeon Master (GM): While there are not specific brewing rules, the same creation rules that apply for any magical item are in effect when creating a potion. To make any magical item, you must work on it for 1 day for each 25 gp of creation cost. 14 days Roqar: wait for a response from the contact may as well contact mine also hehe Dungeon Master (GM): and it is one day's travel to the mine Roqar: sure Dungeon Master (GM): is the rest of you ok with that? ROLO: Mage Armor Abjuration 1 Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Target: A willing creature who isn't wearing armor Components: V, S, M (A piece of cured Leather) Duration: 8 hours Rolo, touches Rolo, who isn’t wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds the recipient until the spell ends. The target’s base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action. SPELL SAVE DC : 14 SPELL SLOT LEVEL 13 OF 4 REMAINING Sirus: Hey. Just popping in real quick on mobile to say that I could be back before the session ends. maybe. Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Sirus ROLO: hi Dungeon Master (GM): ok, is rolo and Marshall ok with sending out a message to the criminal contacts? ROLO: im ok with that Dungeon Master (GM): ok so what do you tell them in your note? Marshall : yeah Roqar: we send notes to our criminal contacts to see if they can help in any way? to those at mountain toe we just tell them we are coming to settle the dispute with the Dwarves Dungeon Master (GM): ok the courier to the mine would take 2 days there and back the one for Neverwinter city 5 days Roqar: we are waiting for potions anyways Dungeon Master (GM): so late on the 25th you would get the response from the mine and and the 28th the response from the criminal contacts then it's 9 more days on the potions, so September 6th for all the potions. Roqar: ok have potions will travel hehe Dungeon Master (GM): then you have 2 weeks till the full moon from there. Roqar: we go to the mine with our silvered weapons and potions ROLO: do we each get a potion Dungeon Master (GM): well there are 7 potions you want more? ROLO: one should be good for me dont plan on getting bitten Dungeon Master (GM): you should discuss the plan on what you are going to be doing once at the mine. Like how do you intend to get them to drink the potions, unless you want them for yourselves. Are you getting two scrolls of Remove Curse spells? ROLO: i thought we were but roqar said other wise Dungeon Master (GM): well, Rolo and Juan have the time frame to acquire the scrolls for themselves Roqar: we dont plan on giving them the potions they are for us if we get bitten, if needed we can go to neverwinter afterwards ROLO: then i would do it Roqar: we can go get the scrolls since with travel it would be close ROLO: would i have time to copy to my spell book Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so you have all gone up to neverwinter and spend 3 days up there to get the scrolls and come back...so that's a week say from August 24th. you arrive back in phandalin on the 31st now 20 days away from a full moon and 1 week until all potions are made make sure you deduct 45 off gold on your sheet rolo...i took off 90 for juan ROLO: k Roqar: wait a week for the potions than head to the mine seek out the dwarves camp near there ROLO: done
Dungeon Master (GM): ok ROLO: can i copy into spell book Dungeon Master (GM): yes you can do that now...make the macro for it ROLO: 185 gp minus 45 gp 140 gp left Dungeon Master (GM): ok ROLO: i dont know how Dungeon Master (GM): ok I will put it in for you ROLO: ty i added spell brb restroom Dungeon Master (GM): Remove Curse Abjuration 3 Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Target: 1 Creature Components: V, S Duration: Instantaneous At Rolo's touch, all curses affecting Thagren Ironforge or object end. If the object is a cursed magic item, its curse remains, but the spell breaks its owner's attunement to the object so it can be removed or discarded. SPELL SAVE DC : 14 SPELL SLOT LEVEL 31 OF 2 REMAINING ok Dungeon Master (GM): ok Do you want to go look for the dwarf camp? Roqar: yes Dungeon Master (GM): I think you had already worked some sort of a deal or did those dwarves head off to Wave Echo cave? I will have to look that up ROLO: k do i subbtract that spel slot Roqar: + Dungeon Master (GM): you just need to pick the 2, 3rd level spells you have memorized which can be 2 remove curses if you want let me look up info on the dwarves from Mountain's toe ROLO: done ty Dungeon Master (GM): ok, those dwarves took up Gundren's offer to work the Wave Echo cave mine so to speak to them you need to find the dwarven camp near there. Roqar: hm skip it then ROLO: k Roqar: head to mountain toe afterwards let them know they have their mine back assuming it goes well ROLO: just continue Dungeon Master (GM): you're welcome! Ok, so off to Mountain's toe now? Roqar: yes Dungeon Master (GM): how soon before the full moon do you wish to arrive?? Roqar: we leave right after potions made a days travel so that leaves what 11 days or was it about a month? anyways we leave once we have the potions Dungeon Master (GM): you had 2 weeks prior to the full moon Roqar: good enough Dungeon Master (GM): so it would be like 12 day prior once you arrive at the mine Roqar: thats fine Sirus: I am here! Dungeon Master (GM): Hello Sirus! ROLO: hi Sirus: Yeah the engine meet was over a lot quicker than I thought it would be. So, what happened? Roqar: Cool just in time to meet the were rats we each have a potion and 2 scrolls of remove curse Sirus: Ooh nice. No luck with the dwarves tho? Dungeon Master (GM): plus 2 more memorized and prayed for 'Remove Curses' Sirus: Very good Dungeon Master (GM): each from rolo and juan Roqar: they are at the other mine working decided to skip it Sirus: :x kay. Dungeon Master (GM): you are arriving before the full moon day before Roqar: 12 days before next full moon Dungeon Master (GM): ok ok Sirus: Right. So the intent is to tell them they better find another cave to hide out in, or else I imagine. :p Roqar: basically yes Sirus: Fun. Dungeon Master (GM): so you are changing the previous deal then which I believe was that they could help work the mine Sirus: N-no? I don't.... I don't think we agreed to that. Dungeon Master (GM): i can check on that like i did with what happened with the dwarves Sirus: I could have sworn it was more, "You don't attack us, we take the dwarves out of here." If we had agreed on that at first, that became a rather sour idea the moment we found the starving dwarves. Roqar: yes, it was an offer until we found the dwarves that was a deal breaker
Dungeon Master (GM): The party tries to see if the wererats would be willing to help mine for the gold in the mine. It appears that they are willing to help so long as they could stay here. Sirus: Ofc, wererats are known to be quite avaricious little things, so I could absolutely believe they're not serious about that, and that they'd be constantly trying to pocket some of the gold for themselves. So yeah, most questionable action out of the party so far. The wererats gotta go, one way or another. Oh yeah one last thing, did all the wolfsbane get used? Or is there any left over Dungeon Master (GM): it was all made into potion concoctions Roqar: what we found got used Dungeon Master (GM): cost the party 350 in gold Sirus: Ah ok. Dam. Ready to pick up then. Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Well, here we go. You guys ready for this?" Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "...As ready as one could hope to be..." ROLO: yes Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Ready as I will ever be" ROLO: i cast mage armor if i didnt already Dungeon Master (GM): ok Thime -Female the Were-Rat Says: "Looks like we have vistors here today. Some Of you have been here before I see. What is your business here today?" ROLO: i also swapped fireball for remove curse for prepaired Dungeon Master (GM): ok Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Got some bad news for you and the others in there." Thime -Female the Were-Rat Says: "Ok, what is the bad news then?" Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "We decided that we can't trust a bunch of wererats to mine gold without pocketing whatever they find. You're leaving. All of you. There's plenty of other perfectly good caves for you to hunker down in, but you won't be having this one." Rix -Female the Were-Rat Says: "Shouting loudly: ALARM! ALARM! WE HAVE INTRUDERS! WE HAVE INTRUDERS!" they take defensive attack stances Sirus: ...Should've had Avery use Silence. Dungeon Master (GM): then they wouldn't hear you say that ROLO: can i cast a spell Dungeon Master (GM): not until we go into combat round now Sirus: Not if Marcy was inside the dome I don't think... Roqar: Roqar, the Elf Rogue, gets ready to make an attack move! So crossbow. Dungeon Master (GM): so 4 bolts will damage you want to fire them? Sirus: Well I mean he literally can't harm these wererats with anything else so Roqar: no macro for attacking Dungeon Master (GM): yea, do it from the main sheet and aimmed at Thime Roqar: 19 | 21 80/320 Light Crossbow (+6) Tarth Tangle 10 Piercing Dungeon Master (GM): ok, a hit! : Tarth 's turn is done. Marcuria , it's now your turn! Sirus: Right. Marcy. Let's see... Rage time.
Marcuria Violezi: Rage Marcuria Violezi Class: Barbarian In battle, you fight with primal ferocity. On your turn, you can enter a rage as a bonus action. While raging, you gain the following benefits if you aren’t wearing heavy armor: -You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. -When you make a melee weapon attack using Strength, you gain a bonus to the damage roll that increases as you gain levels as a barbarian, as shown in the Rage Damage column of the Barbarian table. -You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. If you are able to cast spells, you can’t cast them or concentrate on them while raging. Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your rage on your turn as a bonus action. Once you have raged the number of times shown for your barbarian level in the Rages column of the Barbarian table, you must finish a long rest before you can rage again. Form Of The Beast Marcuria Violezi Class: Path of the Beast When you enter your rage, you can transform, revealing the bestial power within you. Until the rage ends, you manifest a an aspect of your inner beast. Any weapons manifested count as simple melee weapon for you, and you add your Strength modifier to the attack and damage rolls when you attack with it, as normal. You choose the form of your manifestation each time you rage: Bite. Your mouth transforms into a bestial muzzle or great mandibles (your choice). It deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit. Once on each of your turns when you damage a creature with this bite, you regain a number of hit points equal to twice your proficiency bonus. Carapace. Your skin hardens into tough hide or chitin. Your hit point maximum and current hit points increase by your barbarian level plus your consitution modifier. In addition, you have a +2 bonus to your Armor Class. Claws. Each of your hands transforms into a claw, which you can use as a weapon if it's empty. It is a light weapon that deals 1d6 slashing damage on a hit. It counts as a held weapon for the purposes of two-weapon fighting. Once on each of your turns when you attack with a claw using the Attack action, you can make one additional claw attack as part of the same action. Tail. You grow a lashing, spiny tail. It is a heavy weapon which deals 1d10 piercing damage on a hit and has the reach property. If a creature you can see within 10 feet of you hits you with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to swipe your tail and roll a d10, applying a bonus to your AC equal to the number rolled, potentially causing the attack to miss you. Wings. A set of wings sprout from your back. You gain flying speed equal to your walking speed. Tail Marcuria Violezi Feat: Form of the Beast You grow a lashing, spiny tail. Sirus: I presume that makes the regular attack be a 2nd attack? Dungeon Master (GM): yes Sirus: Ok then, queuing it up. : Marcuria 's turn is done. Thime -Female , it's now your turn! Shortsword (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only) Wererat Attack : 9 | 17 Sirus: noep Dungeon Master (GM): missed Juan Sirus: ok 2nd attacks. Dungeon Master (GM): 2nd attacks or bonus actions now in turn order ROLO: no Sirus: I haz for marcy Roqar: npe Sirus: Marshall He has. Dungeon Master (GM): ok, marshall first then marcuria Marshall the Paladin, Attacks with the Magical +1 GREAT SWORD (6ft; Two-Handed) at Rix -Female!
